The Biggest Loser Recap / Review Season 8 October 6 2009; If you want to read about how The Biggest Loser played out this week, you have come to the right spot. Bookmark this site because each and every week we will post a complete verbal recap of the show. Scene by scene and play by play, we will have it all right here. On this weeks episode the kitchen on the ranch closes for the week, forcing the contestants to make healthy choices at restaurants. Also: a medical condition sidelines a contestant; a calorie quiz nets the winning team a big prize.
The show began with a recap of last week. We saw black and white footage show how Tracey went against what everyone asked her to do. It stressed how she alienated the other players. Then the viewers were in a room this week with Shay telling Tracey how she broke the trust. She told America that Tracey dug herself a hole and that Shay wanted her to be honest. Tracey told America that she felt as if she (herself) did nothing wrong. Shay told America that she will never trust Tracey again.
Next we saw Bob Harperand Jillian Michaels
walk into the gym and Bob asked them what happened. Shay chimed in about what happened. Jillian told all of the players that they all need to be there and they all need to fight to stay at the ranch. Bob told everyone that they all needed to be there at the ranch and they had to put themselves first, because that reason is what they all need to understand. Bob stressed that they all needed to learn to put themselves first.
Bob then learned that Tracey still is not allowed to workout in the gym. Amanda was told by Bob that America voted her onto the ranch and we saw footage from last season when she was voted on the ranch. Jillian asked Julio how he got up to 407 pounds and he told Jillian that he was happy. Jillian told him that he was not happy. Julio said he was happy and that being overweight was the only thing he was not happy about. Julio told America that he just loved food. He loved to buy it, to cook it and eat it. Julio said he loved everything about food. Jillian told Julio that he needed to take the risk and get rid of that weight.
We saw a commercial about a new about Wii interactive Biggest Loser game that was available which looked pretty cool actually. We then were back at the ranch and we saw Dr. H. visit Tracey. Dr. H. told Tracey that they were doing blood tests every 3 days because of the major injury she suffered. Tracey learned she had a high level of PPK and that she needed to shut down the exercise because the tests revealed that she had serious muscle damage. She would no longer be allowed to work out at all. She would not be allowed to even walk. She was sidelined from all activity. Tracey was in tears and said she did not want to go home with the weight. Next we saw Tracey tell Coach Mo that she could not exercise and Tracey told America she knew Mo and that she would hope for the best. Mo told America that he knew he had to carry the weight for the team. He was not happy about that but he knew it had to be that way.
Next we saw Allison in the kitchen with all of the cabinets chained shut. The players were told that they had to learn how to eat out in the real world and learn what the healthiest options would be for them. Allison then had the first challenge. The team was to be presented with food choices and they had to pick the healthiest meal. The team that would be able to choose the healthiest meal would win free food for their home for one year. Shay told America how great that prize would be because she had to work 3 jobs to just make ends meet. With that prize, she could quit one of her jobs.
The meals they were presented with were as follows;
- roasted chicken without the skin, low-fat creamed spinach, sweet potatoes and non fat peach frozen yogurt and 2 cups of iced tea
- rotisserie chicken with the skin, regular creamed spinach, vanilla frozen yogurt and 1/2 cup of blueberries with 2 cups of green tea.
- 1/4 bbq chicken breast with skin, peas and carrots, 1 cup mango slices with a glass of milk.
The players all asked questions about how it was cooked as the camera flashed scene after scene of Allison. All the teams either selected A or C, as nobody chose B. Allison then said that the correct answer was between A and C and we were whisked away to another commercial. Allison then recapped that it was either A or C and then revealed it was A. Allison said it was because it was low fat peaches and the bad part was mango because they were full of sugar.
The winners at this point that chose A were Pink, Orange and The Brown Team. It was a 3 way tie. There was one more question and that was how many calories were in dinner A. The closet answer without going over would win the free groceries for a full year. Daniel said it would be easy and then the guesses were;
Brown Team: 547
Pink Team: 385
Orange Team: 475
The correct answer was 445 calories which meant The Pink Team won. Once again we heard Shay whine about how it was sad to lose. Then we saw Allison introduce The Biggest Loser Simple Swaps: 100 Easy Changes to Start Living a Healthier Lifestyle. She said this book was to help a person decide how to start the process of losing weight. The book was described as being about 100 easy changes to start living a healthier lifestyle. It seemed like a decent book and we will add it to our collection.
Then we saw the players go over notes about how to order in a restaurant. Julio said he would order it very simple. Liz told America that she did not like to order out. Then we saw all of the players making phone calls about what they wanted to eat. Each player was then seen opening the food they received and complaining about what they received. They were all saying how hard it was to get good food on take out. They said it was like the food was made by people who just did not care. Jillian then told America that you could use cauliflower as mashed potatoes.
Jillian and Bob then walked into the ranch and asked what was going on. The players all said that they just did not get the food they ordered. Jillian told them they would all go out to eat to help them learn to order food. Daniel said he was excited to get off the ranch. Jillian then told America they needed to learn how to order. Jillian then told the players they were going to a Mexican restaurant and everyone wanted to know what would be in a Mexican restaurant that would be healthy enough to eat. Jillian said that they need to learn to become high maintenance. Then Jillian broke out The Biggest Loser Calorie counter book. The waiters then brought out chips and salsa and then Jillain told them to control their choices and asked them to remove the chips from the table. Jillian told the players that they were on the ranch because of their choices and they had to lose the weight. Jillain said she was tired of the answer” I want to be healthy” Jillian said that they had to be in control of their food choices and Rebecca was in tears about wanting to eat the foods she wanted. Rebecca told everyone in the restaurant that she was tired of being a pretty face and wanted to make a real change in her life. We then saw all of the players trying to order a healthy meal. Bob asked what everyone was drinking and said water was best and any sauces ordered had to be on the side. They said they had to keep the power of control in their choices. Jillian said that that they should steam vegetables and Bob said it would also be great to roast vegetables. Jillian said do not worry about sugar in fruit sugar, only worry about calories. Stay away from anything sauteed and then Bob told America that they all did well and they did not have to suffer. Bob then said the best way to get food was either grilled, roasted, poached or steamed. If they can’t tell you how it is cooked, then avoid it
We then saw everyone walking up to pool for the next challenge. The prize would be for immunity. There was a platform over a pool and they had to hold onto a platform over the pool. The floor under them would slowly rotate until they had no floor and they would be just hanging. Shay then whined again about how it was the worst challenge it could be. Liz then said she was afraid of heights. As the platform rotated down Liz. Next Mo said his shoulders were hurting and Amanda fell into the water. Rudy then fell in the water and Allen said he would win and then Rebecca fell to the water. Dina then slid into the water and Allison said Shay, the heavies person was still hanging on after 5 minutes. Mo then fell and Julio said he was in pain and Daniel said he was just going to hang there. Shay then fell after 10 minutes. Julio fell and that left Daniel and Allen. Daniel said he was just saying “immunity” over and over in his head. Neither one was budging and then after a series of commercials we saw Allen fall into the water. Daniel then had to check to his left and right to make sure he won. He then told America he was proud of himself and he was glad he got past week 4, which is the week he was sent home last season.
Bob then yelled “Last chance workout” he was yelling at Julio to get on the treadmill. Bob said that he and Jillian had to beat out the crappy food they were eating all week long. Jillian said she was tired of all the excuses that Rudy was giving up. Jilliann said she was going to break him in half. Rudy said he was exhausted and he was not ready for the last chance workout. Rudy tried to stop and Jillian would not let him stop. Rudy just kept pumping and moving. Bob then told Amanda that the Pink Team had to work hard and earn every pound they lost. Liz said she was afraid she gained weight this week. We saw player after player jumping, sweating until we saw Tracey sitting in the kitchen doing nothing, because of her condition. Mo said he had to work twice as hard since he was alone in the weigh in and Tracey could not exercise. Mo said he was in alot of pain and then he could not sit up because he hurt his back. Allen said that Mo’s body just gave out. Mo told America “I’m done man….I’m done!” He was suffering from back pain and then Bob said that it was because he was in panic. Bob said that he brought all that pain to the ranch with him. Bob said “what is the other option….go home?” Mo said that was an option and Bob said “Why……Won’t you have the pain at home?” Bob said he just had to get his head on straight and that he needed to take an hour and then get back on the bike. Mo then buckled up and to the sound of heroic music Mo said he wanted to stay and hobbled back into the gym.
Prior to the weigh in all the players were interviewed and they said how crazy the week was. All of the players said that they did not know how they did because they had to eat out each and every meal. At the weigh in Allison said that this week was a major learning curve for the players. Allison then fielded questions about how the week went. Dina said she was afraid that she under ate and liz said the week “sucked!” The weigh in began with Daniel stepping onto the scale as he had immunity.

Tracey cried on the scale about how hard the week was for her. After they weighed in and were safe from elimination Shay was once again shown to be nothing more than a whiner as she complained to America that a “healthy” team needed to stay on the ranch.
The Black Team: Julio 368/364 lost 4 pounds. 1.09%
Julio said he struggled for those 4 pounds and he was happy he lost the weight, but sad because he knew he was below the line. Jillian chimed in that she thought that something was not right and if he stayed on the ranch, she would figure it out.
The Pink Team: Amanda 235/230 lost 5 pounds. Rebecca 248/244 lost lost 4 pounds. Total lost 9 pounds. 1.86%
Amanda was happy because she said she was able to lose the weight, even with all the eating out.
The teams below the yellow line were The Brown Team and The Black Team. Julio said that it would be a better choice to send the other team home since there were 2 of them and only one of him on his team. That would benefit those that remained on the ranch. As the players walked back into the house Liz said that she was torn and she would not fight against Julio to stay and everyone had to fight for themselves. Julio said he liked the Brown Team and he could say nothing bad about them and as he said that he welled up in tears. Julio said he wanted to be there and yet he would not say anything bad against the Brown Team. Liz said that everyone had to choose for themselves and she would say nothing bad about Julio. Danny said he was afraid to go home. Mo chimed in and said you have to go home someday and then Danny started to cry about how much harder it would be to lose weight at home. Mo then asked Julio if he was ready to go home and Julio said “NO” loud and clear. The Purple Team was split on how to choose. Mo was friends with Julio and Tracey wanted to keep the Brown Team around. The players all met behind closed doors and bickered about how to vote.
As the players walked into the vote Tracey told America how scared she was for those teams. Julio hoped he would stay and he told that to America. The vote began and went as such;
The Orange Team: Voted to send home Julio because he would succeed at home.
The Blue Team: Voted to send home The Brown Team and Dina was in tears as she revealed the vote.
The Green Team: Voted to send home The Black Team because of logic. Allen said in tears that Julio was his friend and he wanted to help two people at one time. The explanation was emotion filled and really made no sense.
The Purple Team: Voted to send home The Julio after Tracey made statements about how hard it was to vote for either team.
The Black Team, which consisted only of Julio was voted off the Biggest Loser for October 7 2009.
The Biggest Loser Transformation moment showed Julio speaking about how he has changed and how he was no longer afraid. He told America that he just needed a jumpstart and he had a great and rare opportunity and the next time we see him he would be slim and trim. Julio said he was scared to walk int the gym and now he looks froward to go to the gym. He went from 407 to 299. There was scenes of him playing with his teenage daughter and he looked much thinner. He told America that he still loved food and he was just learning to eat better and exercise. He said the only thing that really changed was his attitude. He said he was the one that had to make the change. He was the one that had to make it happen.
The show then ended.
