The Biggest Loser Couples Recap / Review March 3 2009
After the commercial, Bob Harpersaid that 24Hour Fitness had started a new program that was like shadow boxing. As they were led into a room there was Sugar Ray Leonard jumping rope. Sugar Ray said he was a huge fan of The Biggest Loser
and that losing weight was mostly mental and that one had to conquer the mind to win the weight loss battle. He said that he still uses boxing as his form of workout but no longer does he get hit by another fighter. He said he liked to say the phrase “POWER.” He then said Prepare, Overcome Win Every Round. Then there were a bunch of scenes and all of the contestants were shown in various aspects of the new 24 Hour Fitness routine that included shadow boxing. Bob Harper was in a few of those scenes and Aubrey was revealed to have been a former boxer that was undefeated. Sugar Ray signed autographs and the scene was over.
Next Dr. Huzienga showed up in the gym and spoke to Mike and Tara and he told them they had become the King and Queen because of their accomplishments. Mike had lost 134 pounds in 9 weeks and gained about 20 pounds of muscle in only 3 months. Tara had lost 29% of her body weight in that same time frame. Both of these were great accomplishment. Mike was told that if he had not made the changes he may have been dead in 5 years.
Ron then met with the doctor and spoke about his failed bypass surgery. Ron revealed that his surgery was when he weighed over 500 pounds and it was a failure and that is why he looks the way he does. The doctor then told him that he is showing tremendous progress as his insulin use was way down and he was gaining muscle.
The next few moments were filled with Black Team members opening the mail from home and the tears they were shedding as the love-sick notes were read. It was a touching scene to see the reactions of the players one by one. Soon Mike knocked on the door of Aubrey and said that he was a college kid and did not need the free groceries and that he wanted to give the prize to Aubrey. Upon hearing this Aubrey broke down in tears, hugged Mike and then ran to tell her teammates. The Blue Team was thrilled to see it all and the father of Mike, Ron was beaming with pride because of the gracious thing his son had done. Mike giving his food to Aubrey was not only very generous but may have also earned him some love points at a future elimination round. Either way it was a really great thing for him to have done.
The last chance workout began with the typical scenes of Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels pounding their players into the dirt. Jillian was really upset when she heard Laura sat out the challenge. Jillian said to the camera that Helen was much older and Sione was weaker, yet Laura sat out the round. Jillian then asked all of the players on her team who they thought was the weakest link. They all replied one by one, that it was Laura. Jillian asked why Laura was always last and that she was tired of having to always confront Laura. Jillian said she never yelled at Laura because no matter what Jillian had said, it did not matter. Jillian said Laura needed to make a change. Laura then stormed out of the gym and Jillian said to let her go. Jillian Michaels said that it “was the meanest thing she ever did’ to a person but she had to do it and that they needed to let Laura sort it all out. The next scene was Laura telling the camera in tears exclaiming what Jillian did was worse than being called fat. Laura was very upset and then the next scene had Jillian in the sleeping area asking if she could speak with Laura. Jillian then went into her weekly tale of how the result of Laura being obese had a root issue that had to be dealt with. The conversation then turned to Jillian asking “why do you want to lose weight?” The answers Laura gave were all over the place until Jillian got her to realize that she needed to lose weight for HERSELF. Once that was accomplished Jillian told her she was capable and strong and that she finally owned up to the situation a bit.
The weigh-in had a twist this week and that was that everyone had a chance to stay on the ranch. If all of the players lost more than 77 pounds they all could stay another week. If they all did not lose greater that 77 pounds one player from each team would be sent home. The weigh in went as follows.
Helen 198/193 lost 5 pounds
Mandi 203/195 lost 8 pounds
Sione 286/283 lost 3 pounds
Aubrey 211/203 lost 8 pounds
Laura 233/226 lost 7 pounds
Ron 349/343 lost 6 pounds
Tara 211/200 lost 11 pounds
Kristin 279/270 lost 9 pounds
Filipe 283/275 lost 8 pounds
Cathy 249/246 lost 3 pounds
Mike 297/????????????
This is when the big “to be continued” flashed across the screen. They did not announce wh0 was gong to be sent home this week. The show ended and there was no final answer to whether or not Ron was able to save the day. The entire decision was going to be revealed next week and we all have been left hanging for an answer.
Everyone should realize that the scale they all weigh on is not really what you see. The actual weigh in is done before the filming is done and the players do not even know the results. This is done so the order the viewers see is sequenced, to allow the maximum entertainment. Also that is how Allison has all those facts ready for us to hear. All of that does not matter, to us the viewers, because the end result is great TV.
Come back next week and then you will be able to get caught up again with The Biggest Loser.

I get really tired of the repeating as well. Not to mention watching someone getting weighed twice. I feel Allison drones on and on. Sometimes I even turn the sound off. All I really like is the weigh ins at the end. Unfortunately I miss it by falling asleep!
We do not comment to many posts here, but we could not pass this one up! YES!!!! They need to stop repeating things over and over again!!!!!!
Anyone else think they could shorten the show by probably 1/2 an hour by Allison (who I love, by the way) not repeating the same facts to them over and over again?
I do.
You know, the part when they’re weighing in and you already know and they already know what needs to happen, and she said it before the commercial but then she says it AGAIN. Argh! Not good TV there.
