Candy? Diet? Everyday is a Battle For The Weight Loss

Everyday is a challenge for me.  I never before realized how many times a day food comes into my realm of choices that have to be made.  Some days I am offered candy and pastries and other sorts of food that do little but expand the waistline.  Today was one of those days!

I awoke this morning to a dozen fresh jelly donuts on the kitchen table that were beckoning me.  When I got to work there were candies piled in the break room and pizza in the afternoon.  All of these choices came at me so fast that now that I look back on the day I am slightly amazed that I was able to resist all of the cravings.  Pizza was the hardest to resist.

I have come to realize that even though today I chose to not eat the fat pills I know that it would not have destroyed my quest to lose the extra weight.  Maybe I have turned a corner and I will be able to control my will power and stop eating all of the bad choices so often.  Today was a good day!

As I sit here now I just remembered that butterfinger candy bar stashed way back in the freezer.  I guess the day is not over yet!!!  Losing weight is not the easiest thing I have ever done.  In fact I think I got through boot camp for the U.S.M.C. easier.

Butterfinger? Will power?  GRRRRRR!!!  The battle continues….

BodyBugg and the United States Marine Corps

usmc-flagIf you are looking to join any branch of the military you know you have to be in shape physically.  If you are wanting to become a United States Marine then you better get your butt in gear, tighten up and get in shape.  If you are currently overweight and want to become a Marine then you better lose the weight before you ship out because you do not want to be sent to the Pork Chop Platoon for extra PT (Physical Training).  If you want to enlist into The Corps you must pass the IST (Initial Strength Test) and you must not exceed the allowable body fat limits.  The limit for males is 18 percent body fat.

Prior to shipping out to Parris Island or San Diego for boot-camp, the Marine Recruits must meet different (more strict) weight standards.  They can still ship out if the following conditions are met:

Within 5 percent of retention weight standards: If the recruit passes the IST, he can ship to basic training with no waiver.

More than 5 percent over retention weight: Recruit must pass the IST, and receive a waiver from the Marine Corps Recruiting District Commanding Officer.

More than 10 percent over retention weight: Recruit must pass the IST, be within body-fat standards (18 percent), and receive a waiver from the Marine Corps Recruiting Region Commanding General.
