Mind versus Weight Loss

I have a few questions for you. How would you describe yourself while looking in the mirror?  How do you feel about yourself?  How would you describe yourself to other people?  Have you made your weight you?  Have you forgotten your dreams and aspirations because you feel like you are too overweight to accomplish them?   When you look in the mirror do you see a person you would want to be best friends with?  Do you love the person you see?  Can you see past your double chin and the wrinkles around your eyes?  What color are your eyes and can you look yourself in the eyes?

I am asking these questions because if it is difficult to love the person looking back in the mirror when we are overweight. How do we know we will love ourselves when we are thinner?   We need to love ourselves for who we are, from the inside first, and only then should we can work on controlling our weight.  Many people tend to try and fix the outside by trying every new fad diet or diet pill that comes on the market.  The truth of the matter is the problem isn’t on the outside of us, it is inside.  Dr. Sklare, an eDiets psychologist tells us that we cannot change our weight until we change our minds.

I know that you want to eat healthy and be healthy, but there is a driving force on the inside of you that steers you in the opposite direction.  My husband Keith and I were talking one day and we both agreed that it is almost like there are two different people fighting inside of us.  One part of you wants to be exercising, eating healthy, and taking good care of your body and then there is another part of you that procrastinates, makes excuses, interferes and sabotages your best interests.  This internal argument goes on all the time within you and it is at the very heart that keeps you from weight control.  If you listen you can even hear the argument.

So how do we fix this?  How can we make ourselves as one and become united in losing weight, begin an exercise routine and become healthy on the inside first before running to the next fad diet or the new diet pill.

Losing Weight Will Happen When You Make It Happen!

When a person is trying to lose weight they more often than not have failed at a few previous attempts. All too often they have tried fad diets such as Atkins, L.A. Weight Loss,Slim Fast and an entire host of other diets. A person will be able to lose weight on many of the “fad diets” but that is not where the problem for most people rests.

The end result for people using a fad diet is that over the long term any weight that is lost will return and when it does your body will pack on a few extra pounds when it is all said and done. What your body really needs is for you to stop trying to lose weight by eating some special foods from some fad diet. You will run into problems because one day you will want to “regular” food again and that will conflict a “fad” diet. Actually when you deviate from a fad diet it causes the diet to virtually implode. What you need to do is change your lifestyle. Believe it or not this is not nearly as hard to start as you would think.

What you first need to do is to get up and start moving your body. This does not mean you have to train for the Olympics but you can make subtle changes in the everyday things you do. Stop taking the elevator or walk a few floors then take the lift. Park farther from the store or walk to the store if practical. If you can, join a gym. Too shy to join a gym, then Bow Flex has great products.

Whatever it is you do you just have to get started. You can read all the stories you want and gather all the knowledge but what is going to make the difference is that you just get up and do something. I am pleading with you that losing weight is something that you should do for your spouse, your children…your whoever. When you see you can lose 5 pounds you will want to lose more. What you need to do is to resolve yourself to the fact that by eating better and moving, your body will lose weight. Now just get up and do it because you are worth it and it is not impossible unless you make it impossible!!!!! You are the master of your life and nobody will do for you.

So what are you waiting for ????

Weight Loss Excuses

Everybody wants to lose weight.  Most are looking for fast weight loss or quick weight loss and end up on a fad diet or some other lame brain idea to lose weight.  After many of us try to lose weight time after time and that time piles up as year after year, the attempts start to be put off more and more by excuses.  We are too busy, we have to take the children to soccer or the husband needs me to make sure the house is clean, I had to go to work early….bla, bla, bla.  Whatever your excuse for not being able to lose weight you need to realize just that.  It is nothing more than an excuse.

I have always been a very cut and dry type of person and I too could go work out more often or eat better foods.  I am no weight loss wonder or Hollywood diet guru, I am just me and I realize that if you are over weight it is your fault.  PERIOD!!!  Strip away all of the excuses and what you have in your life  is commonly referred to as reality.  If your life is too busy then you have chosen to be busy.  If your job is too demanding then that is your choice and that is what you are willing to accept.  If you are always staying late at work, you chose to stay there.  If you decide to make scenery for the school play, that was your choice.  If you have children that need to be driven all over town everyday that too is your choice.  You would not be a horrible parent to tell them to walk every now and then.  If you choose to prepare full course, time consuming meals, then that is another choice

The sum total of your day is decided by the choices you make.  Whatever you fill the time with is the things you allow to happen.  If you can not find enough time a few hours a week, you have made a choice.  If you choose to watch TV, that is alright, but do not think that you do not have time to exercise or prepare healthy meals.  Choices are choices and you are where you are today because of the choices you made yesterday.

Excuses Begone!: How to Change Lifelong, Self-Defeating Thinking Habits

We all have the same amount of time in day and what you choose to do in that time is…..your choice.  The entire point here is that if you are not the shape you desire, then you need to change the choices you make on a daily basis.  If you want to run a marathon but can’t, you have made the choice because you are not preparing.  We have become a nation that wants it now and gives up too fast.  If you want to lose weight, then make the choice and make it happen.

Weight loss is really kind of simple for the average person. It is merely a matter of eating less calories than you burn in a day.  There is not much more in the equation than that!  if it is such a simple equation why are there so many obese people today?  The answer is simple, it is the choice they make on a daily basis.

We are not here to fault you for being over weight.  We know that losing weight is much harder than it may appear on the outside, we just hope you will realize that if you are over weight, it is because of the choices you have made.  If you hope to lose weight in the future, it is merely a matter of how you handle the choices that are about to come your way

Yo-Yo Dieting, Choices, Diets and Weight Loss

Losing weight is all about never giving up.  The person that is a success at weight loss will know that in order to truly achieve weight loss success, the “diet” is never really over.  The person who is only trying to lose weight by dieting is doomed to a life of either obesity or a life of yo-yo dieting.  It may take a few diet attempts for a person to learn that diets basically do not work in the long haul.  What we want you to think about is what your life will be like after your “diet” and you lose your 50 pounds?  When you lose the 50 pounds does a bell ring and you will always be able to fit into that nice dress?  Chances are you truly will not be able to lose weight for the long haul until you realize that in order to actually be a weight loss success you will have to not only lose the weight but also be able to keep that weight off for the rest of your life.  Now that you know true weight loss success is for the long haul think about how that ”diet” you are planning stacks up in a year or two?

Are you contemplating a new “diet” plan in the not too distant future?  Is New Years bringing another weight loss resolution that you already know you will not keep?  One thing we want you to be aware of as you go from failed diet to failed diet is that in order to be a success in the weight loss arena there is no magic pill or weight loss gizmo that you can strap onto your body to make it slimmer.  If you want to lose the weight you need to stop looking for some magic cure or expect the weight to just fall off your body because you walked a mile last month.  As you make this journey through life you may have gathered a few extra pounds here and there and in order to get rid of them you will need to make a concentrated effort to get rid of the weight.  You will need to eat better food choices and also you need to get out and do some form of exercise.  This does not mean that you have to train for the marathon; it just means you need to get up and get moving.  Walk further to the door at the store.  Take the stairs every now and then.  Eat better and most of all get an education in what is good and what is bad for your body.  Knowledge is power and your education can be free.

We can all come up with excuses as to why we can’t lose the weight……I work too long, I have to watch the kids……I have to take care of……..and on and on we go.  The world still spins and you just keep getting more and more over weight.  You know you want to lose weight and yet here you sit and once again you are debating on what needs to be done.  This is the time that you need to start gathering the facts of weight loss and health.  This is where you need to stop making excuses and start to educate yourself in the field of weight loss.  You do not have to be a genius and you do not have to be wealthy, you just have to want.

Wanting to lose weight is the start and now you need to channel that motivation into education.  Start gathering knowledge about what health is all about.  Start by learning all the benefits of not being obese.  Learn what it takes to lead a healthy and normal life.  Learn about all of the different diets you have tried and failed.  Realize why they failed and learn from that experience.  We want you to know that the diets were the failure and not you.  We want you to realize that you and you alone hold the power within you to lose the weight you desire.  The grand concept needs to be that you have to want it so bad you can taste it!  (No pun intended)

The thing now is how will you break away from being overweight?  How will you permit yourself to allow yourself to do the things needed to make your weight loss a reality?  It all comes down to the choices we make and the big question you need to answer is what do you choose for yourself?  Do you choose sustained motivation that will attain long term weight loss or do you just try another flash in the pan fad diet?

You know you need knowledge about how to lose weight.  A good place to start is a support group and from there you can establish a base of knowledge that will propel your self confidence into allowing yourself to succeed and let that thin person inside you free.

Good Luck!!
