The BodyBugg Scam

We have all seen weight loss fads come and we have seen weight loss fads go.  I have become the most cynical person in the world when it comes to weight loss products and that is why I had approached BodyBugg as nothing but another

weight loss scam and a waste of money.  Before we really get into this short essay on why BodyBugg is a scam let me give you some input as to why I consider myself to be a very qualified individual that can tell you all you need to know about why BodyBugg is what it is!

I have had my BodyBugg on my arm for about one complete year now and I have paid alot of attention to what it does and it does not do to help me lose weight.  My original goal was to lose right under 100 pounds and that has not happened yet.  When I first strapped on my BodyBugg I weighed in at a whopping 297 pounds.  Foolish me thought that I would lose weight just because I wore the thing on my arm, like on Losing it With Jillian or on The Biggest Loser.  At first I thought it emitted some sort of anti-calorie rays that would negate the caloric value of all I ate.  Once again, that did not happen.

The BodyBugg did absolutely nothing to help me just lose the weight.  Each and everyday I wore the darned thing and would enter all the food I ate onto my BodyBugg website and see the results.  Each and everyday I would be able to see how many calories I had eaten and how many calories I had burned.  After a short while I started to pay attention to the fact that I was eating alot more calories than I had burned and that the trend was nowhere close to ending.  I could see the results of my choices on my computer and my bathroom scale everyday.  I would be able to see the days I was active and the days I just sat at my desk.  I could see firsthand what it would take to lose the weight.

I received my BodyBugg as part of a review for this website and I had many glowing comments to make because I was finally learning to take ownership of the calories I was eating and the calories that I was burning.  I used the BodyBugg for a full 6 months and I soon began to see the results of my efforts.  Simply because I had been paying attention to what I was eating and how I was exercising, I was able to drop about 50 pounds.  What really started to make me think it was another weight loss scam was the fact that I had to have an active suscription to BodyBugg after the initial 6 months, I just let it go.  I thought I no longer needed to use BodyBugg as I now lost 50 pounds and knew what I needed to do.

At first I thought that all BodyBugg did for me was make me aware of the calories I was eating and burning, so when the 6 month initial suscription ended, I threw the BodyBugg in the desk drawer.  Afterall it was my actions that made me lose the weight and BodyBugg really had little to nothing to do with that.  I had lost the first 50 pounds and since I only had about 47 more to go, I would just save my money and move on with life.

A few months of not using BodyBugg went by and I started to realize that my pants were getting tight.  My belt was getting ”shorter” and I started to feel fat again.  My wife would rub my belly (lovingly) while we watched television and my vest at work also started to get tight.  I came to the realization that I was gaining my weight back again and that I needed to do something, so I looked at BodyBugg once again.  This time I decided to order the digital display when I renewed my online membership.  I received the BodyBugg Digital display in the mail and once again I was determined to lose the weight.

By this time I really just hoped to get BACK to the weight of 239 pounds, as I expanded to 254 pounds during my non-BodyBugg months.  When the digital display arrived in the mail I was fairly impressed with it and started to wear it right away.  I soon learned once again that BodyBugg was a scam because that darn thing on my arm did nothing to make the weight fall off.  I would sit there and watch

the calories burned not go up all by them-self.  I soon began to realize once again that BodyBugg will not CAUSE one pound to come off my body if I did not make those numbers move.

Once again I had to burn those calories to lose the weight.  I started to go for long walks again and I started to go to the health club in the morning again and sure enough…the weight started to come off once again.  After about two weeks I had given back 7 of those gained pounds and am well on my way to getting rid of the rest as I continue on my march towards 200 pounds.  Once again I realize that BodyBugg just sits on my arm and does nothing but record what I am or am not doing.  Once again I look at those numbers and think “sh*t!” I have to go for a walk or I have to eat less because the calorie count is not going well for the day.  Once again BodyBugg just sits there and bugs the heck out of me by making me realize that I need to do something to make the weight loss happen.

So, in closing I must admit that if you think that BodyBugg is going to CAUSE you to lose weight, you will think it is nothing more than a scam.  BodyBugg WILL NOT cause you to lose one pound or one ounce or even cause you to shed one drop of sweat.  BodyBugg is not a weight loss tool in the fact that it causes you to lose weight.  It is simply a weight loss tool that enables the user to make decisions that will make or break your weight loss.  BodyBugg is pure science in the fact that it really never offers an opinion, other than “virtual coaches” on the BodyBugg website.  If you are looking to BodyBugg as a way to make the weight come off you too will think it is a scam.  If you are looking to BodyBugg as a device that will help you make better choices and motivate you in the right direction, you will be pleasantly surprised.

BodyBuggwill only be a scam to those that do not understand how it works.  It is merely a computer that provides you with information that you will either use or ignore.  Those choices will add up over time to equal either weight loss or weight gain.  The choice will be yours to make and BodyBugg simply presents you with choices that are based in fact.

Weight Loss Surgery: Gaining It All Back

If you found this article because you have had weight loss surgery and you looked great for a year or two and are now gaining it all back again, I am sorry you are reading this article.  I for one have written many articles concerning

weight loss and I always hope people will find and read them, but in this case, I am saddened by the perceived failure of your gastric sleeve or laparoscopic gastric bypass.  If you are sitting in front of your monitor and are saddened by the short lived results of your triumph and are now wallowing in the realization and fear of becoming fat again, you need to take a deep breath, relax and read what is about to be written with an open mind because what I am writing I do so with your best interest in mind.  When I write about what I believe to be the failure of weight loss surgery is what I have seen happen time and time again and it wrenches at my heart when I hear of bariatric patients that are starting to gain all the weight back again.  What I write is from my heart and it is not meant to hurt, it is only meant to enlighten and to help anyone struggling with the emotions when the realization that weight loss surgery may have not been the weight loss solution they thought it was going to be.

First off I want to say that you cannot have pity for ANY decision you may have made in the past.  However you arrived at the point you are at right now… is a moot point.  The past is over and the present is here and the future has not been written yet.  If you are sitting in front of your computer right now getting freaked out because you had weight loss surgery and now are getting overweight again, you need to step back and think about why that is happening.  Before you start reading the next paragraph I want you to think about what the single most important reason why a person that has had weight loss surgery would start putting all the weight back on again.  What is the reason you (as a healthy person) is gaining all that weight again?

It really does not matter what you may think the answer is, there really is only one answer.  That answer is as simple now as it was before you had the weight loss procedure and that answer is because you are eating more calories than you are burning.  It is not really a hard concept to follow because that is what weight loss and weight gain is all about.  Before you had weight loss surgery you ate too much and exercised too little and that meant there was a calorie surplus.  When there is a surplus there is weight gain.  Since 3,500 calories is equal to a pound, that meant that you ate 3,500 calories more than you burned for each and every pound you have gained.

To put it into perspective, if you ate just one apple crumb donut from Dunkin Donuts a day for a year you will have taken in167,900 calories, or almost 48 pounds.   If you washed it down with a 20 ounce Coke you would pack on an additional 25 pounds.  One donut and one coke a day would pack on 73 pounds to your body in just one year.  If you are sitting there thinking that since you had weight loss surgery, you do not eat donuts and you do not drink soda, that is not a relevant argument.  The reason I say this is because we are only talking about calories.

What you need to do is start reflecting on what you are eating and how many calories you are taking in and how many calories you are burning each and everyday.  The only way you can do that is with The BodyBugg, which is what you see on the arms of all the players on The Biggest Loser and also on Losing it with Jillian.  The only difference is that now, it is more important than ever that you take control of the calorie count you experience everyday.  If you have had weight loss surgery and are gaining back alot of weight, that is because the weight gain is only a symptom of the fact that you were obese.

If you ever watched Losing It With Jillian or listened to Jillian Michaels, you would know that being obese is merely a manifestation of a problem that is embedded in your mind or your life.  The list of those problems is about as limitless as one can conceive.  Your bariatric surgeon may have wanted you to have the procedure but did he/she ever go in depth with the issue that facilitated your obesity?  If not, then you may be still dealing with the issues that caused your obesity in the first place.  If you do not recognize that, you will gain the weight back and then what will be your options?  More failed surgeries?

What I am suggesting to you is to take control right here and right now and count your calories eaten and compare them to the results of your personal BodyBugg.  If you do not have a BodyBugg…then get one.  The stakes are much higher for you now and the failure of your bariatric surgery is even more dire as you once again try to tackle obesity.  If you do not take control of what you eat, then you will continue to gain weight.  It is all about calories in and calories out and if you can’t keep track of how many calories you are burning, then get a BodyBugg.

The BodyBugg I speak of is the same thing on the arms of the players on The Biggest loser and the show Losing It With Jillian.  It is THE state of the art weight loss tool available.  If you are floundering in your weight and you have had weight loss surgery, you need to take control of your life and you better do something and you better do it soon.  If you you do not make the needed changes just go take a look at how big you used to be and decide if that is where you want to return to in your life.

The BodyBugg is merely a tool and only order it if you are willing to use it because it will not cause you to lose any weight at all.  What it will do is give you the needed information and make you accountable to yourself for your actions.  That accountability is what you should have achieved before the surgeon convinced you to have weight loss surgery.

BodyBugg, Bob Harper and The Biggest Loser

This is a poor quality copy of how Bob Harper explains and brags on how great the bodybugg calorie management system being used by each Biggest Loser contestant works.

Turn the volume up and listen to how he speaks about the bodybugg.  I have seen him do alot of impromptu commercials on The Biggest Loser, but this commercial is different.  If you know Bob Harper from watching all of his “built in commercials” it is easy to notice that his tone is one of sincerity on this commercial.

Sure he is doing a commercial… but when he speaks of Bodybugg it is different.  I think it is because he really does believe in how great the system really can be for a person that is making an honest attempt to lose some weight.

Anyone Hate Bodybugg? Is It A Waste Of Money?

I just want something in addition to my trying to eat better and working out.  I heard that Bodybugg is the greatest invention for weight loss.  I am afraid to buy it because of all the scam weight loss products I have wasted money on.  I have wasted alot of money and my husband will kill me if I keep spending money and NOT lose weight.

I need help from someone that has REALLY used Bodybugg and can tell me if it is a waste of money?

Does BodyBugg Count Calories Burned?

I am thinking of using bodybugg and was wondering if anyone out there knew if it counted your calories.  What I mean is that does it really add up all the calories a person burns?  I have heard about it but I wanted to know if it really did count calories and how accurate it is.

Any Reviews Of Jillian’s DVD “Boost Your Metabolism?”

I did some exercise today and used the Jillian Michael’s workout video called “Boost Your Metabolism.“  It lasted for forty fives minutes or so and it consisted of using your body as the weight while you performed the cardio and weight training.  Has anyone ever heard of this technique before, because I have not.

When I was done I must admit I was pretty sore, but I have my doubts if this is a good work out.  I think it would be because I have alot of faith in what Jillian Michael’s endorses.  I was just wondering if anyone else has a review of the video and what they thought of the workout session.

What Is Comparable To BodyBugg?

I Wondering if there are any other similar products available today that are as great as bodybugg but not as expensive? I am hoping to find something that I do not have to have access to a website but I am hoping for something that is more accurate than a common store bought pedometer.

BodyBugg On Losing It With Jillian

I was really happy to see The BodyBugg on the series premier of the new show of Jillian Michaels called “Losing It With Jillian.”  The interesting thing about this was the fact that there was not one second of mention that the black band on the arms of the family members on the show was The BodyBugg.  In today’s age of television everything that is shown on your screen has been placed there becasue someone was getting paid.  That was not so with the “Losing It With Jillian” series premier tonight.

This left some interesting questions about why this was so and I would like to just put out this post as sort of wondering out-loud.  If you have been followingmy wife and I for the past few years you will already know that we not only use The BodyBugg daily, we love using The BodyBugg.  With that disclaimer being out in the open it was a pleasant surprise to see it on the arms of the family members but it was a huge surprise that there was not one word uttered as to what it was and there was not one commercial anywhere to be seen.  We waited for it, but it never came.  How could this be?

My first reaction was that Jillian and her producers are just testing the waters to see if the could get them (24Hour Fitness) to become a sponsor.  If the response from this show proved good, then maybe she could make alot of money.  I do not say this in a bad way about Jillian, I say it just as a matter of fact because we really feel that Jillian personally knows the value of the BodyBugg as a weight loss tool.  That leads us to our second theory as to why the family members had “the black band on their arms” and there was no mention.

Another possible theory behind the silent appearance of The BodyBugg on the show was that Jillian just realizes how great a weight loss tool the BodyBugg can be for a person that truly desires to lose weight.  Jillian wanted desperately for them to succeed and she provided them with a tool that would help them in a big way?

In the end there is one thing that cannot be disputed and that is that at the end of the seven week period the show covered, they ALL achieved the weight loss goals they set out to achieve.  With that being said…they all had BodyBuggs and the family members really did lose the weight in the day to day reality of their life and not on some ranch!

We really do love BodyBugg!

Losing It With Jillian: Mastropieto Family

Losing It With Jillian had its Series premiere tonight and I must say that it was not what was expected.  Jillian showed a side of herself that was only slightly visible on The Biggest Loser.  What can be said is that The Biggest Loser is now firmly behind Jillian and now her television future is entrenched for the next few years with her new television show “Losing It With Jillian.”

Before I get into what the show was about let me give you a little background on how the format of the show is set up to operate.  After all, this is not only the season premier, it is the series premier.  Jillian Michaels finds a family that is dealing with obesity issues that are so severe that it threatens the very lives of those on the show.  She arrives 20 minutes after the family

Jillian Michaels
receives a phone call and then moves in for one week.  She takes them through the grind in the gym but that is actually secondary to the events that take place within the home of the family on the show.

Sure there are the scenes of Jillian yelling at the family members but that will only go so far when she only has one week to help the family.  What the goal here is to give the members of the family the tools, or in this case, the knowledge to help themselves.  She has only one week to make such a drastic change that after she leaves they will be able to thrust the changes into their everyday lives that will allow them to maintain the needed self discipline to become the family and the individuals thay need to become…to live.

This is one part of Jillian that we only have seen glimpses of in other shows and I bet this is going to soften the rough edges she has been known to have.  Jillian, on this show was seen to be the screaming trainer, but this time it was easily seen that her intentions were to shock the family into the reality that they had to make the needed change, or they would be the ones to die.

To review the episode that was on tonight (June 1, 2010) Jillian Michaels called the Mastropieto Family on the phone and told them to meet her at the gym and she would be there in 20 minutes.  The family was all excited and jumping for joy when they received the call, but all that changed after the initial greeting from Jillian.

After Jillian met the family it was learned that they were in very poor physical shape.  The exercises that Jillian told them to do was so intense that they all sort of just gave up and Jillian walked out because family member, after family member just gave up.  The daughter (Michelle) screamed at her parents and told her to go get Jillian and bring her back.

It was not long into the one week visit that Jillian realized the family had a dysfunctional relationship that was centered around food.  Watching the first meal getting prepared looked as if it was sickening Jillian.  Everything was fried and very high in fat.  Early the next day Jillian took the daughter out and introduced her to fresh vegetables at the supermarket.  Their home had none to be found before Jillian arrived.

Jillian soon dug into what was causing this family to have such a poor relationship with food and soon realized it was because of the fact that the Dad (Jim) would not talk to the Mom (Agnes) about their child that died 22 years before, when it was only 31 days old.  Anytime Agnes tried to discuss it, he would shut down and this drove her to food as a comfort.  Over the years this tragedy spread to the entire family and the relationship that was established drove all of the family members to become obese.

The daughter, Michelle, was to get married in six weeks and the family went shopping for the wedding clothing.  The sad reality was that they all felt obese and the Dad (Jim) was told he was too large to fit into the largest tuxedo.  Agnes said she was too large to fit into anything that made her feel good about herself.  The family then decided that they had six weeks to make a change and they committed to make that change.

An interesting sidenote about this show was that it was very clear in stating that weight loss surgery did not help the members of this family.  There were members that had the procedure and yet today they still dealt with their weight because they never dealt with the issues that made them over weight.  Although Jillian did not mention this herself, it was clearly shown a few times in the editing of the show.  The daughter even went so far as to say that gastric bypass just caused her to have “serious head-games.”  The Dad stated early on in the show that the surgery failed because he still had the “fat mentality.”  Never before had I seen a show pan the weight loss surgery concept so much.  The interesting part about this is that the results of this humble family are the results that are so prevalent of those I know personally one, two or three years after they have had surgery.  It was subtle and understated, but it was evident that Jillian Michaels is against weight loss surgery as a way to lose weight.

The next scene was quite interesting and pleasant.  It was noticed that each and every member of the Mastropietro family was wearing a BodyBugg.  So if you were wondering what was on the arm of the family on Losing It With Jillian…it was the BodyBugg.  It is the same devise that is on Jillian’s other weight loss show but it was interesting that there was no sponsorship from 24Hour Fitness.  I guess it can be concluded that Jillian wanted this family to succeed so much that she wanted to make sure they had all of the tools needed.  Since I know and love The BodyBugg, I realize and understand how great BodyBuggis as a weight loss tool.  I did have to chuckle at first because they were all so shiny and new and I knew that soon they would be scratched, beaten and well worn.  I was quite happy to see those black bands on the arms of the Mastropietro family because I knew then that with BodyBuggthey had the best weight loss tool available.  I knew at that moment that they had what they needed and now if they really wanted to succeed, they could do it.  It was all up to them.

BodyBugg by 24Hour Fitness

Jillian then told the family that it was time to leave and off she went with the promise to return for the wedding in six weeks.  Before she left she made each family member state what there goal would be until the wedding.  Soon Jillian walked out the door with her suitcase.

The next scene Jillian was walking up to the wedding in a sexy red dress.  This was where she would discover if the family was able to lose the weight.  What was soon revealed was that the family was on the road to discovery and each of the members of the family were able to achieve their goals.

Agnes lost 34 pounds, Jim dropped 48 pounds and 10 inches from his waistline while the son, Michael lost 25 pounds. Jillian then told them the show would pay for the wedding and sent the newlyweds off on a honeymoon.  Jim then told the wedding guests how Jillian helped heal the issues that were killing the family slowly.

In the end the entire show was what only received a few moments on the other show Jillian starred on.  That was the fact that in order to lose weight, and keep it off a person has to get at the reason food is an issue in the first place.  This family learned that it was alright to grieve the death of their newborn 22 years earlier.  This issue was the trigger for obesity.

It was not only obvious this show was a hit, it was obvious that this show saved the lives of The Mastropietro family.
