  • what you call self-discipline, i call motivation–while self-discipline infers doing something necessary but distasteful that is undertaken to avoid, say… feeling anxious about being slothful. Motivation, on the other hand, propels you towards an activity, which in this case is exercise. there are many ways to self-motivate but avoidance of negative consequences is not among them. i suggest you refer to some literature regarding motivational techniques such as goal setting–then you won’t find sticking with a workout regimen such a fight

Really a nice post. Sself discipline is very important for doing any exercises and workouts. To stay fit and healthy, we should do exercises regularly and should take nutritious and healthy food. I feel that an average person’s self-discipline is not strong enough to stick with a fitness plan.It is essential to prioritize your activities for each day and set aside specific times for doing each task. The best thing I believe to solve the problem of self-discipline in fitness exercise is to workout with a partner.

Although I’ve never been to any marine training or never even think of going, I heard a lot of stories from my friends who been through that training. I think what everyone needs is a drive. The drive in marine might be fear of punishment but in life is different. Happiness, reward, recognition and love is our main drive. They drive me to be healthy and work hard to achieve my goals :)

Self-discipline is something that a person must be willing to do. It doesn’t need a religion or government, it’s all about free will. If you have willing to be disciplined then the rest will follow. In able for us to stay healthy we should do constant exercise and discipline ourselves. By the way, Mr. Keith blog post is very helpful, thanks for your sharing of your experience.

Discipline requires a religion(USMC-type like). Therefore, one must have a civilian religion (Mind-Body-Spirit). One needs to emulate personality traits from those that are discipline (e.g. Drill instructor type like), acquire new values, learn tactics, techniques, and procedures. Overall, one needs a driving goal.
