Okay!  So I love using Medifast products to lose weight!  I admit it and my passion for helping to change the obese problem one person at a time is something that helps me get out of bed each and every day of the week.  I have taken back my life through the use of Medifast and all that the overall program can offer.  As I sit here writing this brief article aboutweight loss success stories I have to tell you something that I have noticed for some time now.  As I sit here trying to convince the obese people of the world the reality of Medifast being able to create a success story on an individual basis I NEED to show you something.  I need to show you what sets Medifast apart from any so-called competition out there.  I want you to travel with me and check out weight loss success stories all over the Internet.

As you research the different weight loss plans and travel through cyberspace I invite you to check out all of the success stories that each organization has to offer and I really want you to note the tiny difference that is what sets Medifast apart as the superior weight loss plan in the world today.  I want you to travel to the competitors of Medifast and see for yourself just how inferior they all are to the weight loss potential that Medifast really has to offer.

Click on the link below and you will arrive at the official Jenny Craig website, success stories page.  On that page you will note that there is a itty-bitty asterick below the smiling man that says….and I quote….“*Clients following our program, on average, lose 1-2 lbs per week.”

Jenny Craig Official Website

Now shoot over to eDiets and see that Connie lost 136 pounds in 17 months.  That equals to 1.9 pounds lost per week. (136 pounds divided by 17 months equals 8 pounds a month.  8 pounds per month divided by 4.2 weeks a month equals 1.9 pounds per week. / Yes, on average there is 4.2 weeks per month when talking about a year.)

eDiets Official Website

Now check out Weight Watchers and you will note that they too only offer you the ability to lose as follows…and again I quote from their own website….”People following the Weight Watchers plan can expect to lose 1-2 pounds per week.”  Once again you will note that they are just like the status quo of the weight loss world and offer their ability to help you lose 1 to 2 pounds a week.  That is all they offer on their success stories and that tiny fact makes them just like all of the other mediocre weight loss plans in the world today.

Weight Watchers Official Website

Now let’s check out what is available on the weight loss plan that I feel is the best in the world for being unique and effective.  Lets go see what is said on The Medifast Website.  As you travel to the link below I want you to note that on the Official Medifast Website Success Stories the following quote will be revealed on ANY link you find that has a success story…and there are MANY such links.  What you will note in the fine print of the Medifast website is that the following is claimed…and once again, I quote…“Typical weight loss on The Medifast 5 & 1 Plan is 2 to 5 pounds per week.”

Now imagine that…if you just explored what I provided you it will be discovered that out of ALL the weight loss websites in the world today give you the information you need to make a quality decision to decide what weight loss plan works best.  When you follow the link below you will discover that on the WORST average week on Medifast is twice as good as the BEST week an any other plan!

How Accurate is BodyBugg For Weight Loss?

I consider myself to be a non-employee BodyBugg expert because I have been using it for well over one year now and know quite abit about how it works because of the fact that I live and function with it on my arm everywhere I go.  So, when I write about how accurate BodyBugg is I just want you to know that I have tangible results that I can back up with the reality of my waistline being reduced.  The amazing results I write about on this page is a collection of the thoughts that have been focused by a use of BodyBugg that has been going on for months.  The question I hope to answer for you is “How accurate is BodyBugg?”

The problem I see with BodyBugg is that it is just too darned accurate for most casualweight loss minded people to fully understand.  Although the ease of use is universally accepted, I will be the first to acknowledge that there is one major issue with the accuracy of using BodyBugg.  The issue that I speak of is that it is just too darn accurate and that is the downfall that causes many individuals to not really fathom what it is doing for you.  The accuracy I speak of dwarfs most people because of the inability for many people to enter the amount of food that is eaten accurately.

In the past year I have watched the numbers of my BodyBugg fluctuate wildly in accuracy and all of those fluctuations were because of MYinability to correctly record the information on the BodyBugg website.  My in ability to get the calories I ate on a daily basis correct was really causing a crisis in my personal life.  Struggling with weight loss has been an issue I have had to deal with for many years and since I had to lose 97 pounds, I really started to get frustrated after I struggled with the first 40 or so pounds that were lost.

What I have realized is that BodyBugg is so accurate in what it does that the average person cannot fully appreciate what is happening inside their own body.  Watching the variation of what I ate and what I entered each and every week was really starting to annoy me and I decided that I had to decide once and for all how accurate BodyBugg was, to settle my weight loss problem once and for all.  I had this great idea one night while I was watching The Biggest Loser.  I heard Bob Harper tell one of the contestants that they had to record every ounce of food they were eating.  When I heard that I knew I had to make it happen in my life and I had to take control of losing weight once and for all.  I was tired of always trying to lose weight and I just wanted to be done with this phase of my life.  I wanted to be done with all the dieting and just get it over with once and for all.  I wanted to become that skinner person that I knew wanted to come out.

What I soon realized was that I had to get a grip on my caloric intake once and for all to see if BodyBugg was worth all of the money that I had paid for it.  I needed to see if BodyBugg was accurate enough for me to continue using it as a weight loss tool. Looking into the best way to be able to track the calories I was eating I turned to the Medifast Program. This program was all about eating a very specific caloric count each and everyday.  This program was perfect because I did not have to worry about how much low-fat onion sauce was added at Subway.  Using this program I no longer had to worry about not getting the calorie intake correct because it was no longer an option to not knowwhat the EXACT amount of calories I was ingesting on a daily basis.  What I soon realized was that BodyBugg and Medifast was, and is, a match made in heaven for my weight loss desires.

When I started to see the results of my strict caloric intake, combined with the results I was seeing from BodyBugg, I could have cried.  After struggling for years with weight loss I now know that I am not only losing weight, I have proven that BodyBugg is really accurate and using Medifast helped me prove that is a true statement. I want to not only show you the results that I I have discovered, I want to shout it out to the world!!

The chart you see below is from a program I have on my computer that is from FitDay.  It is a good program and I have used it long before BodyBugg.  The results on this program are on my computer and do not ever become inaccessable to me, if I forget or neglect to pay a monthly fee, like with the BodyBugg website.  I like FitDay because it is always there. I enter my daily and weekly results not only in my FitDay, but also in the BodyBugg Website.  (I have been trying really hard to lose weight.)

As you can see I was doing really well until about Dec. 20th 2009 with the weight loss.  It was here that the BodyBugg started to not be all that accurate and I blamed BodyBugg more than I should have blamed myself.  I struggled with all of my efforts as my new and smaller clothing started to once again get tight on my body.  When I heard Bob Harper utter the words about recording my calories I decided that I had to get real with my efforts.  I knew that I had to give BodyBugg a renewed try because there were many early months with weight loss being a reality.

My subscription to BodyBugg had expired and I had to start it up again to fulfill my weight loss dreams and turn them into a reality.  As you can see I started Medifast on 7/26/2010, but I did not have an active BodyBugg subscription, so I had to wait a few days to get it all in sync and to set my life up for both of the programs to be aligned in my life. (LWTD = Lowest Weight To Date)

By the charts listed below, lifted right off my BodyBugg website, I can show you how accurate BodyBugg has been for my weight loss attempts. On the first chart listed below you can see the results from August 2nd to the results through August 7th.  What you can see on the first chart is that if my calorie deficit is based off of my FOOD LOG, the results would yield a deficit of 2,615 calories a day.

If you can follow along with me I want you to look at the chart and notice that the DEFICIT is based upon my food log.  What that means is that according to what I entered in the computer, of food eating and calories burned, I HAD a daily average deficit of 2,615 calories.  In the past the difference between the food log and the results on the scale were not always very close.  Although the variance was never all that bad or that far off, it was enough to drive me crazy when trying to decide just how accurate BodyBugg really is for me.’

The next chart you will notice is the screenshot right from the BodyBugg website that shows the changes based on what is happening in reality based on not only the results from the food entered, but from reality when compared to what is happening on the scale.  What is amazing to me is that in over 14 months or so I have never had such an accurate result.  To see that the difference in reality to what it should have been was not only refreshing, it was reassuring that I am on the right and the best weight loss path I have ever been experiencing.  BodyBugg is not only accurate, it is a marvel for me to be able to lose weight.  I can now see the “flaw” of BodyBugg was not that it was not accurate, it was, and is just too darn accurate for the casual weight loss attempts of many people.

I will stick to all of my earlier statements that BodyBugg is a wonderful device that will not help you lose one ounce of fat unless you are ready to make the change happen in your life.  Those changes you seek will happen one moment at a time.  Those choices will range from going for that walk and not eating that cheesecake.  Those choices are there to make and for BodyBugg to really be effective you will need to look at the results you are presented on your computer and make some new and bold choices.

The flaw I was dealing with in my weight loss attempts was that I was not admitting to myself what I was eating throughout the day and when I entered the food eaten to the BodyBugg website I was all too often underestimating how much I was really putting into my mouth.  By implementing Medifast I no longer had to “guess” about how many calories I was eating.  I no longer had to guesstimate because with Medifast each and every meal was accurate and there was no room for under or over estimating.

Is BodyBugg accurate?  It may be too accurate, but when you really know what you are eating….I MEAN REALLY KNOW WHAT YOU ARE EATING….BodyBugg is more accurate than I had ever hoped it to be.

How accurate is BodyBugg?  Well, It took me over one year of using BodyBugg and just one week of Medifast to really be impressed by just how accurate BodyBugg really can be!

BodyBugg and Medifast may be a match made in heaven that the two companies themselves do not comprehend.

Overeating and Dieting and The Holidays

The holidays are here again and you fell off the diet wagon again. Now you are looking for a way to get back on that diet wagon and really get serious about losing some weight. The first thing that you have to do is to stop beating yourself up over having a binge fest over the holidays. You cannot change one thing that you did or ate in the last few days. You can’t change the past, you can only move on and try to be better in the future. The 100 pound question is “what exactly is better?” If “better” for you is to lose weight that is great, but how long have you been doing this “better” thing?

If you have had trouble trying to diet and lose those pounds then let’s stop for a moment from beating ourselves up over trying to be “better.” We are what we are and if we desire to lose weight we have to stop thinking we live on a ranch somewhere secluded away from work, life and food. We need to look at what is in our life and learn to deal with what we have. If you have a hectic work schedule then you need to stop trying to lose weight around your work schedule. If you know you have to work late, then get up earlier to exercise which may mean you have to go to bed earlier. If you can’t find a healthy place to eat lunch, than start planning on bringing a healthy lunch. If you are using your schedule as an excuse from losing weight then you are really just making excuses.

If you do not have the ability to go to a gym during the day then buy a piece of equipment and stick it in your home. If you do not have the money to buy equipment then just get a pair of sneakers and go for a walk. If you are having a hard time losing weight then the answer may not be just another failed diet, maybe the answer is just a lack of motivation and mediocrity. If you really want to lose weight, and have no medical condition, the only one stopping you from losing weight is yourself.

Whew!!! Those were some pretty extreme words that were just spoken and it is hoped that your feelings were not hurt, but the truth remains that if you want to lose weight then you and only you can make it happen. You are not on some game show and you really are only in competition with yourself. You need to take a moment and reflect on what it is you really want out of the goal of weight loss. You need to stop accepting failure and stop expecting more than can be delivered.

As you move forward from this moment in time it is expected for you to stop beating yourself up and start to accept the need for self love. You need to stop being so filled with a lack of self tolerance and start to think about what will work for your own individual weight loss. You do not need to be in a rush and just because you want to lose weight does not make it an all or nothing. Set a goal for 1.5 pounds of weight loss a week. That is a doable goal and one that can be easily achieved and tracked with the use of FitDay, which is a wonderful weight loss program for your computer. Setting an achievable and measureable goal is better than just saying you will lose some weight.

As this holiday season starts and ends accept yourself for what you are and if you desire better, then you possess the power to make yourself better. Do not get side tracked by poor goals or with perceived competition with your girlfriends. Use your friends as tools that when used properly can help the situation. With the goal of a pound or two a week, and tracking that goal, you will be able to build that needed motivation for a successful weight loss journey.

Weight loss is not a destination; it is a journey that will take the rest of your adult life. By embracing your failures you can improve your future. By pushing aside defeat you can create and maintain motivation. By accepting your shortcomings and holiday binges then you are on the right road for reality in weight loss. In that reality you will have up days and down days but as long as you have another day you are still in the game. Hang in there, realize you are human. Accept the fact the only competition is yourself and unless you can embrace that competition you may never reach your goals.

eDiets.com

You can achieve weight loss if only you were to accept the fact that you are human and that a diet is not an all or nothing event. When you reach that day of your ideal weight you will realize that it had to be a life style change to make it happen. Once you achieve that weight loss you will realize that to prevent weight gain you need to continue your “diet”. At that point your “diet” had better be a lifestyle because most people cannot live on a diet for the rest of their forever. Most people who lose the weight and keep it off are those who made fundamental changes in their behavior and now to keep that weight off they need to keep going to maintain that weight. To maintain that lower weight you better be living in such a way that you will be happy. If you are not happy with how you LOST the weight you will slip and that slip will cause you to gain all the weight back again.

Skip the diet, stop beating yourself up, make reasonable goals for your weight loss, stop being in competition with your neighbor, friend and especially yourself. If you want to lose weight make the change, love yourself for yourself and stop looking at the calendar. Weight loss will happen when you make it happen and you will not make it happen until you are really ready to make it happen.

Medifast Diet: Explained and Reviewed

I was so thrilled with Medifast that i just had to tell the entire world! Before an explanation of The Medifast 5 & 1 Meal Plan can be explained, it is essential that the reader understands that Medifast is essentially a meal replacement program. A Medifast Meal is often referred to as a PCMR, which means a Portion Controlled Replacement Meal. Although there are other Medifast Meal Plans available we will only be discussing, in detail, the Medifast 5 & 1 Plan.
Get 56 Free Meals, Free Shipping and 5% off!
The Medifast 5 & 1 Meal Plan is the most commonly used weight loss plan that is used by those people that utilize Medifast as a way to lose weight. Although there are variations of the Medifast weight loss program, the most common plan the majority of people using Medifast, is the 5 & 1. Variations of the Medifast Program will differ for categories of individuals such as diabetics or nursing mothers. What needs to be understood when discussing any Medifast Plan is that the number distinguishes how many Medifast Meals are being used as replacement meals, or PCMR’s. The 5 & 1 signifies that there will be 5 Medifast Meals being utilized as replacement meals while the 1 signifies that there will be one meal eaten daily, that is not provided by Medifast.

The essential differences of using Medifast to lose weight are quite numerous and distinctive from any other weight loss plan available to the general public, in America today. (Medifast is not sold outside of the borders of The United States as of this moment, although there are plans to grow globally.) The obvious differences of the Medifast Weight Loss Program are as follows;

Approved by over 30,000 doctors

Approved and used by Johns Hopkins

Clinically proven with peer review

Fastest, non-surgical, medically approved weight loss method available to the public

There is no other weight loss program available on the market today in The United States that has been approved to be used by more doctors than the Medifast (5 & 1) Weight Loss Program. There is a steady rise in physicians that are recognizing the effectiveness of using Medifast Meal Replacements as an effective tool in combating obesity. Over thirty years ago the only way to use Medifast was through a doctor’s prescription. Today Medifast is available without a prescription, but yet there are an increasing number of physicians that recommend using a Medifast Meal Plan for sustainable weight loss.

Anyone that knows anything about the medical field will hold a deep respect for the fact that the Medifast 5 & 1 Meal Plan has been used and is approved by Johns Hopkins. Medifast has been utilized in clinical studies and the results of the overall program have been shown to be effective. Those results have been peer reviewed and the quality of the program has been held to the highest standards of proven effectiveness.

If one were to compare the Medifast 5 & 1 program with other popular weight loss programs on the market today, such as Weight-Watchers or NutriSystem, there is a considerable difference in expected results. While other well-known plans maintain a disclaimer of being able to lose one to two pounds each week, Medifast maintains a disclaimer of 2 to 5 pounds per week. This amounts to the worst week on Medifast can be as good as the best week on any other weight loss plan on the market. Now that we have established the effectiveness of Medifast it needs to be stressed that although there are variations of the Medifast 5 & 1 Plan, such as the Medifast 4 & 2 Plan, the 5 & 1 Plan is the plan used by healthy individuals seeking fast and safe weight loss.

The important thing to understand when using the Medifast 5 & 1 Meal Plan is that a person needs to eat every 2.5 to 3 hours, for the plan to be effective. The point of eating so often is what helps maintain a high metabolism while also maintaining a continuous and effective state of mild fat burning. By eating this often a person is saved from suffering cravings for carbohydrates (sweets) and rarely will suffer from hunger, after the initial three days of the program. During the course of a person’s waking hours it is essential that a meal be eaten every two to three hours.

The Medifast 5 & 1 Meal Plan requires that a total of six meals be eaten daily with the time-frame mentioned above. As mentioned earlier, 5 of the meals will consist of meals provided by Medifast. Those meals will consist of the commonly known shakes and the less commonly known additions that have been made over the last ten years. Medifast currently maintains over 70 meals to choose from with a selection that ranges well beyond just shakes to include stew, chili, pancakes, brownies and candy-like crunch bars. The unique and interesting fact about the meals formulated by Medifast is that all of the meals have very similar nutritional footprints. Whether a person is eating a Medifast Brownie, or a Medifast bowl of oatmeal, the calories and nutritional content are virtually the same.

During the course of an average day using the Medifast 5 & 1 Meal Plan a person will consume 5 Medifast Meals and one non-Medifast Meal. With each Medifast Meal containing 20% of all the daily recommended nutrition a person needs, it is easy to see that at the end of a typical day a person has consumed 100% of the recommended needed nutrition. Receiving low-calorie and low-glycemic meals is the key to the continuous and substantial weight loss promised my Medifast. By receiving the needed vitamins and minerals, as well as the needed protein, a person will experience an increase in fat burn while yielding minimal muscle decay. The loss of muscle that is so common to weight loss surgery patients is not a side-effect of using Medifast. It has been proven that the weight that is lost through the use of Medifast contains less muscle-loss than those that have lost weight through mechanical intervention.

The absorption of all the essential vitamins, minerals and proteins with the 5 Medifast Meals is further complimented by the 1 meal that is not a Medifast Meal. That 1 meal is often referred to the Medifast Lean and Green Meal. This is the one meal that is a pleasant surprise to most people that utilize the Medifast 5 & 1 Meal Plan for weight loss.

There are very strict requirements for the “1″ meal in the Medifast 5 & 1 Meal Plan. This meal can be prepared easily at home or it can be tailored in virtually any restaurant that offers a waiter or a waitress. The Medifast 5 & 1 Meal will not be one that can be found in a fast food restaurant simply because most fast food establishments do not offer the nutrition needed in Medifast Meal Plans.

The Lean and Green portion of the 5 & 1 Meal Plan consists of two parts with one being “lean” and the other being “green.” The lean refers to the portion of the meal that is composed of lean meats. The green refers to the portion of the meal that is composed of vegetables. The selection of the lean and the green portions of the program are not only fairly abundant, but also in larger than expected quantities.

The Lean Portion

The lean portion of the meal refers to eating protein and that protein can be pork, chicken, fish or beef. The preparation of the protein can be in any manner, other than frying. When a person realizes how large a portion size is, there is often a scoff of disbelief. The portion sizes of the protein in a Medifast 5 & 1 Lean and Green Meal are as follows, and are listed as the weight AFTER the meat is cooked;

7 ounces of:

Fish, such as cod, flounder, haddock, orange, roughy, grouper, tilapia, mahi mahi, tuna (yellowfin steak or canned in water), wild catfish.

Shellfish: crab, scallop, shrimp, lobster.

Game Meat: deer,buffalo, elk.

Ground Turkey or other meat: > or = to 98% lean

6 ounces of:

Fish, such as swordfish, trout or halibut.

Chicken: breast or white meat, without skin.

Ground Turkey or other white meat: 95 to 97% lean.

Turkey: light meat

5 ounces of:

Fish: salmon, tuna (bluefin steak), farmed catfish, mackerel, herring.

Lean Beef: steak, roast, ground.

Pork Chop or pork tenderloin

Ground turkey, or other meat: 85 to 94% lean

Chicken or turkey: dark meat

As mentioned above the lean portion of the Medifast 5 & 1 Meal Plan offers a liberal amount of food and what is selected is based upon providing an individual with the needed amounts of protein to allow a healthy and continuous fat burn. The protein that is consumed on the Medifast 5 & 1 Meal Plan is one that facilitates the health and wellness that is unmatched by any other weight loss plan on the market today.

The green portion of the meal refers to the eating of the needed carbohydrates. Unlike other weight loss plans, Medifast recognizes the importance of consuming carbohydrates and include them in the daily intake of calories. The key difference is that Medifast makes the key and yet integral point of knowledge that includes only healthy carbohydrates provided through specific vegetables, in specific and defined quantities. Once again a person will be impressed by the wide and large selection of vegetables available. The quantity of the vegetable is often something that amazes most newcomers to the Medifast 5 & 1 Program.

When looking at the green portion of the 5 & 1 Plan it must be understood that it is necessary to ingest three complete servings as directed by the plan. There are essentially three groups of greens that are included in the plan with those groups being broken into the following categories.

Lower carbohydrate

Moderate carbohydrate

Higher carbohydrate

In each of the above mentioned groups there is a selection and quantity of foods that should be adhered to as follows;

The simple portioning concept of the plan makes it so a person can pick and choose whatever is the preferred choice. They can then mix and match to create a personal meal plan that can yield many different selections. A good example of “thinking outside the box” has been the Medifast spaghetti squash meal. This meal is a well known favorite of those that have been successful using Medifast.

Lower carbohydrates: 1 cup: collards (fresh / raw), endive, lettuce (green leaf, buterhead, iceberg, romaine), mustard greens, spinach (fresh / raw), spring mix, watercress.

1/2 cup: celery, cucumbers, white mushrooms, radishes, sprouts, (alpha, mung bean), turnip greens, argula, nopales, escarole, jalapeno (raw), Swiss chard (raw).

Moderate carbohydrates: 1/2 cup: Asparagus, cabbage, cauliflower, eggplant, fennel bulb, kale, portabella mushrooms, cooked spinach, summer squash (scallop or zucchini).

Higher carbohydrates: 1/2 cup: Broccoli, red cabbage, collard greens, mustard greens (cooked), green or wax beans, kohlrabi, okra, peppers, (any color), scallions, (raw), summer squash (crooked or straightneck), tomatoes (red, ripe), turnips, spaghetti squash, hearts of palm, jicama (cooked), Swiss chard (cooked).

The end result of being able to choose what lean meat will be eaten and what green vegetables will be chosen gives the Medifast user the option of keeping the meal plan full of variety and also flavorful. With the Medifast 5 & 1 Meal there is no reason for the diet to become boring. By mixing and matching selections, a Medifast user will be able to enjoy not only a large variety of food but also a selection that does not require a person to be hungry.

With the Medifast 5 & 1 Meal there is also a large selection of condiments and seasonings that are available to be added during the course of the day. In addition to those condiments and seasonings there is also the availability of healthy fat servings to round out the meal, and the menu for the day. In addition to the 5 & 1 Meal Plan there is also a small ability to add a snack, as long as it meets with the guidelines set forth by the Medifast Plan.

In closing, it needs to be stressed that Medifast maintains a continuous state of mild fat burning which is the reason why so many individuals have had success at losing amazing amounts of weight. The reason Medifast is able to achieve the high degree of success is because there is nothing in the plan that “kicks” a person out of the fat burning process. It is that fat burning process that helps to melt away the fat. When a person deviates from the plan the “damage” done to the fat burning process can set back a person for up to three days. That is why a person needs to have a high degree of commitment when attempting the Medifast 5 & 1 Weight Loss Plan. The positive results are possible to any healthy individual as long as they are committed to losing the weight. The Plan holds great promise as long as the commitment is being maintained.

Most people that are successful with the 5 & 1 Plan move on with their lives and yet always include Medifast in smaller portions because the nutrition and ease of the food is overwhelmingly convienient. Granted a person does not need to continue with Medifast forever, but the food is not only nutritious, convient and healthy…it is also pretty darn enjoyable….at least after the first three days of use. With the Medifast 5 & 1 Meal Plan the first three days tend to be the hardest and then after that the success rate increases rapidly.

Medifast Product Review: Day 1, Food Addiction?

My wife and I have taken the plunge and we ordered Medifast.  We both started using it yesterday for the very first time.  It is my intention to document the results of what I find in the form of a Medifast Review, but this review is going to be filled with more than just your typical statistics of how much weight we lose.  The reason for this is because we know we will be able to lose weight with Medifast simply because of the amount and type of calories that are to be consumed in the plan.  The real question and content of this Medifast review will not be one based on me bragging about losing the weight, it is going to be centered around the emotions and issues that come along with me being able to stick with , as a viable weight loss solution for long term results.  This review will go on for as long as I can keep to the program and as of right now it is my plan to lose all of my weight in about 6 months (65 pounds).  The real question will lead us to what will happen later on…after the Medifast Meal Plan has been implemented for the short term and the long term.

Yesterday was the first day that I ate food from the Medifast Program.  I signed up for the 5 & 1 Meal Plan and I must admit that after almost two days it is going to take a bit of an effort on my part.  The reason I write this is because the way I think about food has been changed in a way I never expected, and this is only after less than two days.

To set the stage for you to understand me a bit more, I am a 49 year old male that is undertaking Medifast with my wife of similar age.  We have both been struggling with weight loss for years now and we had our first major break through watching The Biggest Loser when we discovered BodyBugg.  I will not discuss BodyBugg here, but just so you know, it is a device that you wear that calculates how many calories are being burned by

your body. (Click Here To Read Feature Length Article About BodyBugg On This Website)  With the information BodyBugg gave me I was able to lose about 65 pounds in one year.   I have used it for over one year and think it works great, but now I am ready to take my weight, exercise and overall fitness to the next level.  By using BodyBugg to monitor my calories burned and by eating the controlled diet plan of Medifast, I am a shoo-in to take the last 65 pounds off.

Having started Medifast I have actually returned to the mind frame I had when I quit smoking two to three packs of cigarettes a day.  After just 2 short days on Medifast I have already revealed to myself that I am addicted to food.  I now realize that I just plain love to eat.  I love food and can eat and eat and eat until I am so full I am uncomfortable.  I love pizza and fries and burgers and have realized that I use food as a form of entertainment and comfort.  Just like smoking I find myself turning to food out of habit and eat whenever I am in the “mood” and that “mood” has little to do with hunger.

What I have learned is that I LIKE to eat until I am stuffed.  I like to eat all of the poor food choices and just like smoking, I now realize that my attitude towards food was just as deadly as smoking.  I discovered in just a day that I seek food in comfort and now that I am on Medifast, I find it more difficult to find that comfort I seek.  This morning in the break room at work somebody brought in a dozen cake donuts.  When I saw those donuts it took every ounce of me to ignore the fact they were calling my name.  After the moment of desire had passed I noticed that I was not even hungry and I just wanted the donuts because,….I wanted one, maybe two.

What I also must mention in this initial Medifast review is that when I saw the portion size of the “meals”, I almost panicked by how little Medifast appeared to be in portion size.  As I began yesterday for my first Medifast Day I thought for sure I would starve.  What I soon realized was that I was just fine with the portion size of the Medifast Program and that I would not starve.  After only one day I have started to understand that for me to lose weight for the long term, I need to repair my relationship with food.

I have learned that I need to eat so I can live and not live to eat.  That may sound like a basic statement, but it is one that I need to learn to live by.  I feel that after less than 48 hours of being on Medifast that the problem with my weight is simply because of my addiction to food.  I know that I need food to live and it is not the same as being addicted to smoking, but I find myself always looking for that next meal.  Always picking up that donut in the break room.  I have discovered in a very short amount of time that I often eat just for the sake of it,… it is what I do and not because I am hungry.

I do not know if this post made any sense to you, but it is how I feel and what I think as I sit here reviewing my first couple of days on Medifast.
