Law of Attraction and Dieting To Achieve Weight Loss

My wife and I have been trying to lose weight for quite some time and have realized that the best way to drop the pounds is not by counting calories but by healthy eating choices combined with sensible portions and some moderate exercise. During the same time we were trying to lose weight we discovered the Law of Attraction. This all happened long before the Oprah show made the idea popular. We have listened to Wayne Dyer and Ester Hicks and Louise Hay and have become avid believers in the possibility that the Law of Attraction is more than a fad. We have learned that it fits into every decision you make in your life and even when you do not make a decision, it is still there. We have learned that the Law of Attraction has the untapped potential to help you lose weight and make healthy choices in your life.

Diet Motivation

Diet motivation is actually what decides whether you eat too many calories in a day compared to how many calories you burn.  It does not matter what diet plan you are on or how many pounds you desire to lose, it all comes down to your motivation to lose weight.  As most people have learned it is not the amount of motivation you have that determines weight loss, it is the duration of that motivation.  What the deciding factor of long-term weight loss is the ability to sustain your motivation for the duration of your weight loss journey and beyond.  No matter how motivated you are today your weight loss goals will fail if your motivation does not endure long enough to actually lose the weight.

Lose Weight Now

You want to lose weight now and that is great!  If you really want to lose the weight then your weight loss desires must last longer than just this moment.  The problem with your previous weight loss attempts was that your desire to lose weight did not last long enough to actually make a lasting impact.  Most people only last three or four weeks before they give up on their diet and just gain all their weight back.  The sad part is that each and every time you yo-yo diet, you become so much closer to being a weight loss failure and this does not have to happen to you.

Curb Appetite Through Understanding Appetite

You have a nightly ritual of wandering into the kitchen and opening and closing cabinets looking for a snack even though you just finished eating a large meal. You know you do not have to eat but your mind is telling you to go and find that snack. You have your old favorites which range from peanut butter and bread to plain old chocolate cake. The actual snack is irrelevant because you are on a quest to satisfy the overpowering desire to just eat. As you settle back into your living room throne with your food bounty you wonder why you do this to yourself. Your mind tells you this is a bad habit and yet you just keep on doing it and cannot understand why.   You can relax because you are normal in the fact that you want to eat these snacks and gorge yourself because you are just succumbing to your evolutionary history.  You have just not yet learned that you are a normal person who needs to break free from their evolutionary history of food and learn to curb their appetite.

Accidental Exercise

While watching The Biggest Loser Families today I heard Bob Harper use a phrase that I just loved.  The phrase he uttered was “accidental exercise.”  I Choose Thin has written  many articles about this quite often but to hear the phrase that he said just caused me to have an inner smile after a rough day at work.  What he was talking about was that when you go out about your day and live your life you can do things that cause you to exercise, sort of by accident.

Losing Weight By Starving

Can a person lose weight by starving? The answer is a resounding yes! If you are considering this as a weight loss option or as a diet then we suggest you think again. Losing weight by starving is not only a horrible way to lose weight it is also the unhealthiest way to lose weight. If you deprive yourself of calories your body shuts down the fat burning process and starts to just attack the muscle. Your body does not burn fat when you are starving and instead starts to burn the muscles. This is an ancient and basic human fact that dates back to early human physiology when survival was a daily task.  Many young people try this method of starving themselves and do not even realize that they are on their way to a eating disorder. A great book for young people to read that is an easy an informative read is Faded Denim by Melody Carlson.  This book can be considered a classic and is a must read for any young adult that is experiencing a eating disorder such as attempting a starvation diet.

Healthy Snacking

Many people who try to lose weight do well all day long avoiding food that is less than optimal for weight loss.  Are you one of those people who can eat sensible food choices all day long while at work yet when you come home you just have to keep those fingers busy feeding your face?  Do you spend your nights sitting in front of the TV and all too often you get up for a snack that is something you regret the next morning when you get on the scale?  I used to be the same way and one day I realized that losing weight is sort of similar to trying to stop yourself from smoking.  I have learned that I am a victim of my own habits and because I feel the urge to keep my jaws chomping I was becoming more and more obese.
