My Bathroom Scale Does Not Reflect My Weight Loss

If you are trying to lose some weight then chances are you jump on the every morning to see how much weight you lost. I hope you are not placing too much importance on what the scale shows you everyday. If you set your mood for the day by the result on the scale you are heading for diet disaster.

You should use your weight scale as just another tool in your arsenal to help drop the pounds from your waistline. There is no problem checking out your weight daily but you must keep it in perspective that there will be days you do it all right and you still may gain a bit of weight. WHEN that happens do not think that all is lost and head to the store for your morning coffee and grab a box of donuts out of despair. What you must always remember is that you will not see that belly go away over night. What you will notice is that your body will lose the weight like an unlit candle melting in the hot sun. Do not look for spot reducing because that concept is almost as useless as diet pills. What you should use your scales for is to see and gauge how certain foods affect you and you weight loss. An example of this (for me) is almonds. They are great for you and are a benefit to most people. For me they are like eating lead weights because when ever I eat them my weight loss stops for almost a full 24 hours.

What I have done is what works for me. I use a simple (and very affordable) computer program that use to enter in basic information on my home PC. I use FitDay and I have used it for years. I have the ability to enter so much information that I have never even tapped the full potential of the program. I just use the simple features like a food food journalor keeping track of my weight daily. I love it and maybe one day I will delve deeper into the program but for now I just snip all around the edges of the program and use the weight loss features that fit my personality and desires.

So the next time you race to your scale and your daily weight loss was less than you had hoped for do not despair. You may gain a bit for a day or two and then lose alot more the next day. Remember that even if your scale is not reflecting your “diet deprivation” from yesterday good things are happening you are not noticing. Your face is getting thinner and your pants are a tad bit looser. So, if you are doing your best and the scale mocked you this morning fear not. What you should do is keep a journal and only be concerned that you have lost weight from what you weighed 7 days ago. That 7 day number is so much more important than what you weighed yesterday.

Happy dieting and Relax, the scaledoes not tell it all!

Absolutely correct, although I still believe strongly in utilizing a good digital scale as just one tool to measure your weight loss. Some people believe in checking weight once a day, others once a week and some don’t believe in it at all. For me it is important to check every day, as long as I remind myself that there will be daily variances that have absolutely nothing to do with the effort I may have put in.
