Medifast First Three Days

On Medifast, the first three days can be a make or break deal for a person and their ability to lose weight.  The first three days are critical to the overall success of the diet and need to be approached with knowledge of what is about to happen to your body and your emotions.  Since I have lost over 100 pounds using Medifast and have mentored almost 20 people to start using Medifast I have to stress the importance of the first three days of using Medifast.  What I have seen is that the start of the program will have effects and they will impact everyone in a different way.  By understanding what is about to happen, can mean the difference between becoming thin or staying overweight.

The first thing you need to understand is that the first 3 days using Medifast will be unlike any other days on the plan.  The first 3 days on the program can be difficult for some, while being  simple for others.  Everyone is different.  The reason why the first three days on Medifast are so critical are not just from a physical standpoint, but also from an emotional standpoint.  The most common physical ailment people experience are mild and lingering headaches.  The reason for this is more than likely the fact that you are suffering from ingesting significantly lower amounts of salt.  The headache is fairly common as your body purges all of the less than healthy amounts of “stuff”  you have accumulated, with salt leading the charge.  To alleviate the problem of headaches it has been very effective to simply drink some chicken broth.  This will  help your body sort of step down from the massive amounts of sodium your body is no longer consuming.  This headache is not severe and is not known to linger, after the start of the program.

During the first three days of Medifast the hardest part may be adjusting to the fact that you need to eat 6 times a day, which is roughly about every three waking hours.  During the first three days some people experience hunger, and that is not a bad thing.  What is happening is that during the start of the program your body is literally changing how it fuels, or powers itself.  It is often sometime on the third day that your body makes the shift to achieving a mild fat burning state.  In order to get to that mild and continuous state of fat burn, a person may experience hunger during the first three days.  Once that state of continuous fat burn begins, the hunger pangs fade and are really not all that often, unless it is past your appointed time to eat a meal.

The difficulty people have with the first three days of Medifast is that the Medifast Diet is not really understood.  If you hope to lose weight with Medifast, you need to understand it is not about calories in and calories out.  Medifast is not the typical diet you may be used to doing.  The reason why I write this is because if you are experiencing hunger, when starting Medifast, then you need to eat an extra Medifast meal.  The reason you eat an extra Medifast Meal is because the 100 calories from the meal will not throw your body out of fat burn.  Medifast is all about fat burn and by eating an extra Medifas Meal, you will continue to burn fat.  If you were to eat “off plan” and have a bag of chips, you would actually turn the fat burn off for up to three days.  The reason for that is because Medifast is all about burning fat by eating the right mix of foods.  By eating off plan, the fat burn stops because of the junk that is in the food.  (ie: carbs, sugar)  When doing Medifast it is essential that you eat on plan so as to continue the fat burn.

Since the FOOD is what is important, if you are hungry during the first 3 days of using Medifast, then eat another Medifast Meal.  The 100 calories are much less important than being able to keep your body in fat burn, which is how Medifastachieves such efficient and continous weight loss.  It is critical to understanding the first three days of Medifast because you must pass through those days toget to the fat burn and eventually weight loss.  Medifast is not simply about calories in and calories out and that is a key point of understanding Medifast.

During the first 3 days some people experience no issues or problems whatsoever.  The program is not complicated and the only other issue for some people during the initial first few days is that they do not like the taste of the food.  What you need to understand is that you can season the food and more importantly, after the first three days your taste buds will change dramatically.  After the first few days I often chuckle when someone says that the taste of the food “got better.”  The reson why I silently chuckle is because the food tastes the same, it is just that your taste buds were so “polluted” that you really do not know what anything  tastes like.  After just a few days your body has undergone a detox of sort, and everything just gets better and easier.  After the first month everyone settles into the foods they enjoy, while understanding that it took awhile for your body to adjust to not eating crap food.

The one thing you need to remember is that the first days using Medifast are not what it is like to be on Medifast.  It is sort of similar to the analogy that boot camp is not life in the military.  If you can simply get through the first three days of using Medifast food there is a great chance that you will be able to see the plan through to your personal completion.   Once you get past the first three days you start to understand that losing weight is not about going hungry.  You learn that Medifast is unlike other plans in the fact that you do not have to be hungry to lose weight and that the food really is good food fast.

Trust me, just get past the first 3 days and you will be fine, as long as you follow the plan and adjust the flavor of the food, by seasoning as desired.  After the first three days of adjustment, you will start to lose weight and that weight loss is what it is all about.  You can expect to lose 2 to 5 pounds the first week and many people do much better than that, but 2 to 5 pounds is a normal average amount of weight that is lost using Medifast each week.  Just get past the first three days, continue to follow the plan and before you realize it, you will be much, much thinner.  I can say this because I know how effective Medifast has been for me and my wife.

Doubt it?  Call me and I will answer the phone and I am just me.  I work in retail at a home improvement store and Medifast changed my life for the better.  It can do the same for you!  Medifast has been what I had been looking for for years and since I lost all my weight, life has gotten so much easier to handle.  850-449-0121 is my cell phone.
