Losing Weight And Smoking Pot

A big question that is in the weight loss world of pot heads is if smoking marijuana can speed up your metabolism and cause you to lose weight.  Many people have asked if smoking pot can increase your metabolism while another group asks if it slows down your metabolism.  The answer to these questions is fairly simple and straight forward.  The answer you are about to read makes no judgment on the benefits or the negatives of being a pothead.  The answer of how smoking dope will affect your ability to lose or gain weight is as follows.

One of the things you must know about losing or gaining weight is that whether you are stoned or sober it is all about how many calories you eat and how many calories you burn off.  It does not matter how much THC you have ingested or how many joints you smoke daily or how many bong hits you inhaled.  If you eat more calories than you burn off then you will gain weight.  Simple as that.  So…….if you are worried about getting fat and you are smoking dope every day the important question really has nothing to do with your weight loss or gain.  What does have the effect on your body is the munchies.  If you want to lose weight and you get stoned and then wolf down a dozen donuts, three sodas and a bag of chips you are going to run the risk of becoming overweight.


The easiest way to explain how getting high effects your weight is to just track what you eat when you are high and then calculate the calories ingested.  If you eat more than you burn, you gain weight.  One thing about the munchies is the types of foods that you crave when you are high.  If you choose  large quantities of refined carbohydrates, then you are loading up your body with the worst type of carbs.  There are good carbs you can eat but when you are stoned what is more appetizing?  A bag of chocolate or stick of celery?  Most will be munching on the snickers while the celery is rotting in the sun forgotten.

So, to answer your question as to how smoking pot affects your weight.  It is simple, it is how many calories you shove into to pie hole and how many calories you melt away in the course of you day.  Whether or not you are high is meaningless.  You eat a bag of donuts everyday then do not be shocked when your friends call you lard ass.  The smoking pot concept only affects you through your desire to eat.  That is why they call it the munchies.   If smoking pot caused you to lose weight then it would be all over the world being sold as the weight loss miracle.  Pot may be a miracle but it is not a weight loss miracle. Your metabolism is not really affected by pot. Metabolism, either you have a high metabolism or a low metabolism. Smoking pot gives you neither. You have what you have stoned or sober.
