Healthy Weight Loss

All too often people say that they “can’t lose weight”.  Although this statement is voiced by so many people the statement is really not complete.  What most dejected dieters really need to say is that they can’t lose weight fast enough or they can’t lose weight quickly enough to satisfy their diet expectations.  If you are trying to lose weight you must realize that you can’t lose what took you a few years to gain in a week or two.  You must understand and comprehend the fact that for you to lose weight you need to be motivated to the point that losing 1.5 pounds a week is the goal.  If you need to lose 100 pounds then you should expect it to take you 60 weeks or even longer.  Weight loss is not something that happens overnight.  What you should concentrate on is healthy weight loss because that is best type of weight loss plan.

As you search for ways to lose weight you need to skip the fad diet mentality.  You need to stop trying to look for a quick fix.  You need to approach your desire to lose weight in such a way that you are able to set realistic goals that you will be able to obtain.  If you are merely trying to lose weight to go on a cruise you are setting yourself up for another round of yo-yo dieting.  All too often your history of weight loss attempts send you down a path of unrealistic goals and ending up feeling as if you are a failure when you remain overweight.  Whatever weight you desire to lose you need to set a goal of 1.5 to 2 pounds a week.  That is a realistic goal that will not be wiped out by a vacation or a night out on the town.  Achieving healthy weight loss is all about being able to drop the pounds and doing it slow enough to allow your body to time to adjust.  By allowing your body time to adjust is what will make your weight loss more permanent.  When you lose weight too quickly it is not natural and your body will seek out that weight when your fad diet is over.  If you start a fad diet and lose 20 pounds your body will gain back 20+ pounds when you return to normal eating habits.  That is classic yo-yo dieting.

If you want to lose weight fast then you are setting yourself up for failure.  Plan on losing 1.5 to 2 pounds a week and you will find that you can lose the weight and that the weight will stay off much easier in the long run.  Healthy weight loss is all about the long term.  A fad diet is all about fast and now.  Choose long term weight loss with long term goals and you will reap the rewards of a healthier lifestyle for the rest of your own personal forever.
