Medifast and Sleep Apnea
It was not too long ago that sleep apnea (OSA) was a daily part of my life. My snoring was out of control and my wife had to fall asleep before me, or the roar of my snoring would prevent her from falling asleep. In an effort to get my snoring under control my doctor suggested I go to a sleep center to be evaluated for a sleep apnea machine. I went to Pensacola and had all of these wires hooked up to me and was told to go to sleep. The experience was horrible and the outcome was that I needed to get a sleep apnea machine. I soon found out that the reason I needed a sleep apnea machine was because I was obese, as my BMI was well over 35. Looking back at those early days I am astonished that the medical emphasis was placed on getting a machine and not solving the overall problem. What I mean by this is that because I had medical insurance everyone was more than happy to provide me with what amounted to a “FREE” sleep apnea machine. Despite being told that I could die in my sleep and despite the fact that death is often fatal…the machine was suggested so much more strongly than just losing weight! All of this occurred well before my days of learning about Medifast. This period of my life was well before what I learned in the book by Dr. Anderson. This period of my life was a very dark period for me because I did not realize that, in my case, sleep apnea was 100% curable… if I followed the Medifast weight loss program.
When I read the book I was shocked to realize that the medical world today is nothing more than a business and I (and you) are nothing more than a customer. Everyone is just interested in making money and that is why doctors “threw” a machine at me instead of harping about the simple fact that I had to lose weight to CURE my sleep apnea. I wore that stupid Darth Vader look alike mask and endured countless nights of tethered sleeping and yet never realized I had the power to free myself simply by losing weight. I mean I knew I was wearing the CPAP, but I never knew that I could really lose the weight. That was before I discovered Medifast.
If you are currently wearing a CPAP machine and are tired of trying to sleep through the night then let me be the first to tell you that if you lose the obesity, you most likely will not need the machine any longer. I will not sit here and tell you that Medifast is the only thing that will work, but I will tell you that Medifast is the only thing that has ever worked for me. Before I started Medifast and realized just how effective it was, I believed I was forever doomed to wear that stupid sleep apnea machine.
I do not want you to think I am just out here trying to push Medifast on you, I am simply trying to get your attention and tell you that you have the power within yourself to make weight loss a reality in your life. Whether you use Medifast or some other method, you can free yourself from the horrible night after night of wearing a CPAP machine. Once you realize that you have the ability to become that thin person, you are on your way to shedding the sleep apnea machine for life.
You know that sleep apnea can cause you to die in your sleep, and yet you still choose to remain overweight. You know that sleeping without your machine can cause your death and yet those nights come and go where you say to yourself “one night will be okay.” You need to realize that you do not have to play Russian roulette when you go to bed….you only need to lose weight. It is really not that difficult of a choice when you strip the issue down to the barest elements. Weight loss, sleep apnea, CPAP machine or death.
Maybe it will not be today or tonight, but if you do not make a change soon, why would you expect there to be a different result? I chose to make my change through what worked for me and that was Medifast. What will you choose?
Weight loss?
Obesity?
CPAP?
Death?
Ultimately… there really only will be one answer.
Accidental Exercise
While watching The Biggest Loser Families today I heard Bob Harper use a phrase that I just loved. The phrase he uttered was “accidental exercise.” I Choose Thin has written many articles about this quite often but to hear the phrase that he said just caused me to have an inner smile after a rough day at work. What he was talking about was that when you go out about your day and live your life you can do things that cause you to exercise, sort of by accident.
An example he was speaking of was that while at the mall park your car as far as you can from the entrance. Take a few flight of stairs instead of the elevator. The point he was making was that everyone has the ability to squeeze in some exercise on a daily basis. Everyone can make small adjustments to how they get through their day and those choices add up and affect not only your weight but also your health.
Accidental exercise is a cool phrase and one that I have adopted into my vocabulary. Thank you Bob Harper! Keep inspiring us all to make better choices.

3 Keys To A Heart Healthy Life
Our heart is a complex organ, but keeping it healthy is relatively simple. The heart pumps blood and generates oxygen to fuel all of our vital organs. The great news is that whatever is good for the heart is also healthy for our bodies. The following keys will help us attain a heart healthy life.
- Start with a healthy diet. We need to limit our fat intake. Fat has several good qualities such as providing taste to our food, and transporting vitamins and nutrients to key organs in our bodies. However, to much fat blocks the arteries which can lead to a heart attack or stroke. Fiber is also very important to a heart healthy diet. Eating fiber helps us reduce the absorption of dietary fat, cholesterol, and triglycerides. The old saying, an apple a day (with the peeling of course) keeps the heart doctor away, is true. We also need to eliminate excessive salt abuse. Your body doesn’t want or need extra sodium. Extra sodium overloads your kidneys’ ability to regulate blood pressure, resulting in increased stress on your heart.
- Get Moving! Exercise, or physical fitness is essential to keeping your muscles strong, healthy, and to generate oxygen throughout your body. Exercise helps keep the arteries free of plaque, and helps our bodies convert food into energy. Physical fitness also reduces unhealthy stress, another huge factor for heart disease.
- Take Charge of Your Heart Health! This means: know your family health history, monitor your blood pressure and cholesterol, don’t put off getting your yearly physical examinations, and know the warning signs of a heart attack.
Warning signs of on oncoming heart attack may vary between men and women. Below are some of the warning signals.
- Feeling breathlessness, often without chest pain.
- Flu-like symptoms–clamminess, cold, sweats, and nausea
- Pain in upper back, shoulders, neck, or jaw
- Feelings of anxiety
- Unexplained excessive fatigue or difficulty sleeping
If you have any of these symptoms please call 911 or seek medical attention.
Remember for a Heart Healthy Life you need to eat a low fat diet, increase your fiber, reduce your salt intake and to exercise regularly.
Type II Diabetic Healing Done Naturally
Modern medicine can only do what it can do when you are a Type II diabetic. You have been told that what you need to do to fight off diabetes is watch what you eat and exercise. Well…no duh! If I could do all that then I would not be a Type II diabetic in the first place. I watched The Biggest LoserCouples, Season 7 January 20th, 2009 episode and I watched the doctor tell two contestants that after only three weeks of diet and exercise they were able to throw away over 15 prescriptions. Yet when you go to the doctor they want to write you a prescription for a pill. The sad truth is that pill only treats the symptoms and does nothing for the root problem, which is diabetes. If you do not make a change then Diabetic Supplies
will become a way of life that you will always have to deal with, day in and day out.
We are not going to tell you that diet and exercise is not useful but let’s face reality, how far has the treatment from the doctor gotten you? If you do not make a change you may lose a toe or a foot in the future from amputation.
