How To Lose The Last 20 Pounds

When you are trying to lose weight you must realize that not everyday is going to be a day of weight loss. Some days you will think you are doing it all right and the next trip to the scale you are shocked to realize you gained weight. There will be days you will see results and you will tend to get discouraged. The point I want to make clear here is that losing weight is not and you should not let it all be scale based.

Even if you go through a period of minimal pounds on the scale being lost you need not despair. If you are truly doing what needs to be done you will be losing inches off of your waistline. As you progress in your attempt to lose weight you will become healthier and that health improvement is what weight loss really needs to be about. If you are trying to lose 20 pounds do not give up when the scale seems to be fighting back. The whole point about weight loss should be perceived as a health gain and not about pounds being lost. If you choose to be healthy the weight will get lower and your health will improve.

Do not get discouraged when the time comes that you are having a hard time to lose some weight. If you just keep plugging it will all happen for you one day in the not too distant future. By not giving up on yourself you are bound to succeed once you realize your only competition is yourself. If you need some encouragement for the final push, eDiets is a great place to go. Whatever you do just give yourself a break and chill. Just keep plugging away and do not give up.

Losing Weight, Diet Pills, Depression Medication and Life

So here you sit! You have landed on another website seeking knowledge on weight loss. You have tried and tried and failed and failed again and again. You have tried diet pills and fad diets and maybe even are considering some form of weight loss surgery. You may be suffering from depression and are in a “funk” about life and do not know how to pull yourself out of it. I am here to say you are not alone, you are just a stranger among millions.

The world is full of people just like yourself so do not despair.

Are you suffering from depression?

I knew a friend that was depressed because they were not happy with their weight. They went to the doctor and they had anti-depression medication prescribed. What was not known by my friend was that a side effect of the pills was weight gain. Imagine that! A person goes to the doctor because they are depressed from being overweight and a prescription is given to treat the depression that has the side effects of causing them to gain weight! Ironic huh?

Are you using diet pills?

If you are using diet pills you should be realizing by now that diet pills really do not work. (WOW! You have landed on a website that is not trying to sell you a diet pill.) Diet pills are pretty much a scam, no, I take that back. Diet pills are a total scam, save your money. It is hard to believe the billions and billions that are spent on diet pills and they do not even work. Save your money and DO NOT purchase diet pills. My suggestion is to go to my favorite website where the basic information is free and knowledge is not slanted by the desire to make a profit at your expense. You read it correctly I am suggesting you to NOT purchase ANY diet pills at all!

So now comes the big finish of this entry! If you desire to lose weight then you need to get up and do something about it! If you are fretting over being overweight then get going, get started and make a change. Do not make the change because of anybody else but do it for yourself. Do not be in a hurry because you are not in competition with anybody but yourself. If you have a stroke and die the ultimate effect will be to you! So what are you waiting for? Park further from Walmart. Walk up a few flights of stairs. Walk to the store instead of driving. Pull the bike out of the shed and go for a ride. Find the leash for the dog and take a walk. Skip the diets, skip the pills, skip the thingamajig weight loss gizmo. Learn how to change your life. Gain knowledge and empower yourself to lose the weight.

The one thing you do need to know is that you will lose weight only after you eat less calories than you burn off. It is that simple. The amazing part is that you do not have to go hungry, at all.

What you need is unbiased information to make that journey to true weight loss. Skip the diet, gain the knowledge. Skip the diet pills because there is no magic bullet. Start getting up everyday and doing a bit more one day at a time. Soon the days will pile up and life will be better. Happiness awaits those who seek it, you just need to get up and grab it.

Dieting While On Vacation

You struggle so hard to be able to fit into those clothes and now you are besides yourself because you are afraid you are going to gain a ton of weight on those glorious few days of heaven, referred to as vacation.  As the day of vacation bliss approaches you think to yourself that you may not be able to resist your chocolate nemesis or your double dessert desires.  If this is how you feel then let us be the first to tell you that you are not alone.  Sure there are a ton of articles out there that sound the trumpet of how to resist the deluge of calories and how you can come home as slim and trim as you are now.  Well…..we have a different take on the entire process of vacation and we encourage you to take a vacation from “dieting” .  The reason for this contrasting statement is because we do not even advocate you being on a diet in the first place.

All diets are doomed to fail because of two reasons.  One is the start date and the other is the end date.  If you decide to do on a diet you have set yourself up for failure because in order for a person to lose weight for life they need to skip the diet and learn how to live.  If you start a diet and lose say 50 pounds by not eating any carbohydrates what happens now that you have lost all the weight?  If you count every calorie you eat are you ready to measure and count your calories for the rest of your life?  If you are trying to lose weight the best way to make it happen is by changing your life style to include more activity and by eating better food choices.  This change of life style is something that needs to transcend a vacation.  If you travel to France and desire to eat a pastry that choice will not ruin your weight goals because once your travels are over you will land right back into your everyday life and that life includes better and healthier food choices.

If you have the lifestyle now that is truly geared at being healthy and losing weight then your food choices for a week or two will not destroy the goals you have put into place for the rest of your life.  If you love Mom’s pot roast then why not indulge in that second helping while on that visit.  Who knows how long Mom will be around for you to enjoy another first helping?  The point is that if you are really serious about losing weight then the best way to make that happen is to be intent on obtaining true health.  That health is what will carry you to a slim weight through the daily choices you make.  The choices you make on vacation will allow you to re-energize yourself and when you return you may have gained ten pounds but the mental attitude will be one of having been refreshed.

If you are going on vacation and are afraid of the choices you will make then stop worrying.  Your weight loss will happen by those choices you make in your everyday life.  Your vacation is not your everyday life so enjoy yourself while you live outside of your life.  Enjoy yourself while on vacation.  Your weight loss will be waiting you when you return so enjoy, refresh and reenergize yourself.

Pay Attention When Opening Your Mouth

Why is it that people who are battling weight loss spend all day long thinking about food. You think about what you can eat and what you can’t eat. You think about how much you can eat and even spend time deciding at what time you can and cannot eat. Most people set a goal that they want to lose a certain amount of weight and start charging down the road of diet planning. It may include subscribing to a meal plan or consuming the best weight loss pill currently on the market. Every action of your day is spent on what you eat, where you will eat and how much you will eat. Plan, plan, plan… every aspect of eating for the entire day that lies ahead so you can lose 100 pounds or what ever goal you have in mind.

Does this sound familiar? Well here is something else that more than likely is what you do every day and maybe even every meal. When you eat you become unconscious to the fact you are even eating!

When you have completed all of your food plans you finally sit down to eat. Then at that moment, the moment you have been planning for all day long, the big moment….THE MEAL! The great event that you battle every single day concludes with the fact that you eat. The sad part of it all is that when you start to eat you pay no attention to what you are doing! You turn on the television. You open a newspaper or a magazine. You flip open the laptop computer and you ignore the very object of your day long obsession! You sit down to eat and then pay absolutely no attention to what you are doing!

Did you ever think that your weight loss problem is due to the fact that you really pay no attention to what you are doing? This is a very real possibility with very real consequences. The first and foremost issue is that you will just shovel the food in your mouth and since you are not paying attention you will over eat. You will not be listening to your stomach as you are getting full. You will be eating right past the point of need and thrusting yourself into the zone that produces fat. You will be mindlessly chunking food into your mouth bite after bite, meal after meal. You will have eaten so fast your stomach will not yet have informed the brain you don’t need to eat anymore. Before you can process the messages you go back for another round of chow. Think of how many times you over ate while at a buffet? All of this can be avoided by merely slowing down.

Without the aid of any wonderful weight loss pill you can lose weight simply by paying attention to the act of eating. Take the time and slow down. Stop doing something else when you eat. Taste your food. Enjoy your food. If you were to put the fork down between each bite you would lose weight. If you put food in your mouth and put the fork down and chewed your food well and swallowed the bite before putting more food in your mouth you would lose weight.

It really is very, very simple.

1) When you eat pay attention. Put away the newspaper or the laptop and pay attention to the act of eating.

2) By paying attention you can learn to slow down and this act alone will allow your stomach the time it needs to tell your brain it is full. This will help stop you from overeating as long as you listen after each and every mouthful.

3) Repeat.

By paying attention and slowing down you will eat less and this alone will help you stop eating too much. By following the above steps you can even have some pizza or whatever you desire. Just pay attention, slow down and stop when you are full.

Now that is a diet I can live with….no it is not a diet, it is a “live-it”. You can spend the rest of your life enjoying the foods you like and never be hungry and never, ever feel deprived.

How To Lose The Last 20 Pounds

If you are trying to lose weight and have reached a point where no matter what you do those last few pounds will not come off, you are not alone.   You wake up everyday and you go through your familiar routine of weight loss efforts to no avail.  You exercise and you watch what you eat and it seems that no mater what you attempt to do you are making no headway on losing those last twenty pounds.  You have reached a point in your weight loss attempt that you are starting to feel as if you will not be able to lose anymore weight.  You are starting to think that maybe your body has settled into what is the weight you need to be even though it is not the weight that you want to become.  If you have been trying to lose those last 20 pounds and have tried and tried to shed them
with little success there actually is a fairly simple and a somewhat radical solution.  That solution is to stop the diet plan for a week or so and eat the choices that you have been avoiding.

You have been doing all in your power to lose those last few pounds and have hit the proverbial wall.  The method here is rather sound even though some may consider it a radical idea.  You have reached what some call a plateau and the frustration level is not only manifested in your body but also in your thinking.  What has happened is that your body has become accustomed to the daily exercises and the daily consumption of specific and routine foods.  Your body is built to withstand many dire circumstances and the physiology of the human is designed to fight off starvation as long as possible.  As you try to lose weight your body “believes” it is fending off total starvation and fights to keep each and every ounce of fat that it has stored.  A rather simple and effective solution which is also enjoyable is to indulge in a few days of diet vacation.

Take a week or so and stop exercising and start to eat a few of the items that you have deprived yourself from enjoying.  Eat some chocolate or wash that pizza down with a Pepsi and take a few extra pieces of bread, have a chunk of cheese. A good example of this would be to do what you do on a cruise. This”diet vacation” will trick your body into thinking that the famine is over and we have survived another day.  Your body will quickly adjust itself and your metabolism will begin to shift and adjust also with the addition of more food and less exercise.  After a few days of enjoyment, which does not need to exceed seven, you can then jump right back into your familiar routine.  You will be shocked at how easy it is to gain weight back but do not dwell on this fact.  The very fact that your body gains weight so easily just points to more validity of the statement that your body is trying to prevent what it perceives as starvation.   At the conclusion of your “vacation” you then go back to your exercise routine  and your food choices that will carry you to that desired weight.  After the initial shock of the weight gain you will be able to drop weight fairly quickly and soon you will have pushed through that plateau.

There is a hidden danger to this approach and that is that you will be unable to pull yourself out of the weight gain mode.  The fear is that you will become so embedded into the mind set of eating that your attempt to lose those last 20 pounds will be forgotten.  This concept of eating to lose weight really needs to only be attempted after you have tried and tried to lose those last few pounds and your frustration level has started to endanger your weight loss motivation.  It would be a complete shame of effort and self esteem to be chugging along for a year trying to lose weight only to give up and start eating and then never complete the weight loss journey.  The only way for this plateau buster idea to work is if you get right back on the diet bandwagon. After you go on your week of metabolism altering journey you will not only cause your metabolism to shift, you will also see a shift in your emotions.  You may even learn that the foods you once enjoyed were not as much of an enjoyment anymore.  You may learn that all that fried food causes acid reflux and the soda leaves you with an unsettled tummy.   You may not like the feeling of overeating as much as you thought you
once did.  As you travel through your week of eating you may realize that you no longer like what you thought you were missing.  At the end of this little experiment you may not only realize that you were able to lose those last 20 pounds but you may also be shocked that you do not miss the soda and water is what you now really enjoy.  You may not only be able to break through that plateau by churning up your metabolism but you may also realize that you have become a healthier minded person.  You may realize that you missed those daily walks or that you really no longer missed those bowls of ice cream.  You may realize that you have grown out of the old you and the new you has taken hold.  You may have learned that not only could you lose those last 20 pounds but somewhere along the way you were no longer on a diet but were now actually on a “live-it”.
