Health Insurance After Weight Loss Surgery; Is it Possible?

Gastric bypass surgery and insurance AFTER the surgery is a question that a friend of mine had to have answered and the answer was one that was not a good one.  He had gastric bypass surgery on his spouse’s insurance and since then he has had a divorce.  Since he is a private contractor he needed to go out and get some personal health insurance.  He tried at many different places and he was turned down each and every time.  This denial of health insurance was not something anyone ever mentioned and now he has a problem with no solution.

As of now he is ready to give up and accept the fact that as an individual he will not be able to be eligible for individual health insurance.  He is so much healthier because of the weight loss surgery yet he is finding it impossible to receive individual health insurance.

This may be something worth factoring into your decision to have weight loss surgery.  It is one that we have not been able to research on the web because ALL search results only provide information about coverage BEFORE the surgery.

If you are considering weight loss surgery then you need to ask questions about how your eligibility for health insurance will be affected two, three or ten years down the road.  How will your eligibility be affected if you change insurers?  We hope you ask, before you decide!

Fast Food On My Weight Loss Journey

I have to admit that losing weight is tough because I am a wimp when it comes to eating fast food. I find it so easy to satisfy my hunger by pulling the car into the drive thru and placing my order through the box on the pole. It is all too easy for me to rattle off my desires and be driving away in only a few moments with the aroma of burgers, fries or maybe even a fresh piece of fried chicken. The only problem is that I have done this all too often and the continuous intake of the harmful calories that fast food provides has made me gain too much weight and unfortunately…fat. The issue that is in my life now is that I still find it easy to anonymously swerve into the drive through even though I know it is harmful to my very well being. The question now is why can’t I stop doing this to myself?  Does this sound familiar?

There are many times that I look into the mirror and am fairly happy with the weight loss that I have achieved thus far. There are those days that I stand on the scale and congratulate myself for losing that pound. Unfortunately. there are those days that I get on the scale and start to regret that double burger with cheese I had the day before. As I start to travel through my day I start to listen to that voice of reason in my head that says I am on a life long journey and the occasional burger is not going to cut my life short, as long as I keep it in perspective. After losing over 40 pounds in the last year I can now look back and relax if I eat that occasional fast food meal. What is important is the realization that a successful diet is a lifelong journey that encompasses a series of choices. As long as I get out there and exercise a few times a week and eat more healthy choices than poor choices I will be alright.

I am not saying that it is alright to pull into the golden arch arena every day of your life but it is unrealistic to think that you will never let a slice of pizza past your lips again. Losing weight is and should be a lifelong marathon and not a sprint to the finish. Losing weight does not happen in the vacuum of a TV show but instead it happens in this thing called life. So, as you travel through your life and your weight loss journey you must not beat yourself up for every pit stop for a burger. By allowing yourself a treat every now and then you are really allowing yourself a better chance at success.

You know yourself better than anyone and you know when too much is too much. You, and only you, need to allow yourself a treat every now and then which will help you on your weight loss expedition.  Stop beating yourself up and go have that burger, after you lost those 20 pounds. Heck, one burger is not going to make you fat, it will motivate you to lose that next 20 pounds and before you know it you will have lost all the pounds you wanted to lose.

Weight loss is all about choices. Just make better choices more often and the weight will disappear.

How To Lose Weight Forever

If you desire to lose weight then you need to understand the entire weight loss process.  Unless you are going to be sealed off from the world that you know and enjoy you must resign yourself that you need to make changes in your life.  The changes you need to make are not to give up all the food that you love but that you must start to place some boundaries on the quantity and frequency that you eat those foods.  If you love to eat pizza it is unrealistic to believe that you will start a diet and never eat pizza again.  For you to be able to attain the body weight you desire you must realize that your weight loss attempt needs to allow you to eat your favorite foods every now and then, but with some new limits.

If you desire to lose 100 pounds then you need to not only adjust the quantity of foods you eat but also you need to increase your level of physical activity.  In order for you to lose weight you will need to choose better foods and those foods that are not as healthy for you need to be limited.  An example of this would be that after you lose 20 pounds and do a cardio routine 5 times weekly for one month, you will reward yourself with a night of two slices of pizza and maybe one Pepsi soda.  The point is that if you embark on a diet plan that is so strict that you can’t have a night out for the sake of true enjoyment you will learn to hate your new way of life.  One you start to resent your new lifestyle you will start to deviate from your weight loss goal more and more often.  If that were to happen you would have just completed the cycle of another failed diet attempt.

By changing your lifestyle with more exercise and smaller portions with one day of “binge” eating every now and then you will be more successful in the long-term.  The one problem with this concept is that too many people find it hard to limit the food of their passion.  You must ask yourself if you can be diet rigid for a month and then spend one night enjoying pizza and being able to be rigid in your goals once again the next day.  By allowing yourself one night of your favorite foods every now and then you will release some of the weight loss pressure while allowing yourself some emotional enjoyment as you achieve your long term goals.

Truly successful weight loss is that weight that is lost for the long term.  Anything less than long term weight loss will just be another fad or yo-yo diet.  I Choose Thin for the long term…..what do you choose?

Thin Blog, Weight Loss and Dieting

We have been trying to lose weight for twenty years and we have been losing weight for only one year. In our twenty year journey to lose weight we have wasted our money on a treadmill, a multitude of various diets, numerous diet books, specialized diet foods and so much more that we dare not even try to remember.  At the end of twenty years we have learned that the diets do not work, the treadmill bores us, the diet books contained information that we could not fit into the rest of our life and ALL diet pills were a hoax.  As time went by we grew frustrated with what we learned on the Internet.  Parallel with this time we started to learn about websites and the Internet.  We learned more about how websites rip people off more than anything.  At that point the birth of www.IChooseThin.com took place.  We were so tired of all the hype about weight loss and everyone hawking diet pills that were nothing more than a hoax.  An offshoot of our (wife and I) website has become the Blog we write in often that has become known as Thin Blog.  Thin blog is a place where you can go to gather knowledge on weight loss for free.  Thin Blog has become the gate where thousands of people have found www.IChooseThin.com

Main page w/o intro

Weight loss is not some destination in your life, it needs to beof a journey that winds back and forth between doing well and doing not so well. Stop looking at weight loss as a all or nothing extreme that ends up in self frustration. Weight loss is not about dieting or deprivation it is about choices that you make in the days that you wander through on a daily basis. Weight loss does not mean that if you eat that burger for lunch your “diet” is doomed to failure. Weight loss has to stop being an extreme that wanders back and forth between diet and deprivation.

If you really want to lose weight then you need to start stop making resolutions each and every year. You need to start just making better choices in the moment we call the here and now. If you eat a piece of chocolate it does not signal the end of modern day weight loss. It just means that you ate a piece of chocolate and that you do not have to eat the entire bag. It does not mean that you have to eat each and every treat that comes your way.

Weight loss is something that needs to occur in the moment. It means that you cannot change one thing you did last night or last second. True weight loss can only happen in the here and now and that means for you to lose weight you need to forget about yesterday and don’t worry about tomorrow. If you can just get through this moment in time you will be alright. This moment is all you have so what you do in the moment is so much more important than your history or even your future. Without this moment you have no future, Within this moment there is no past.

Weight loss is all about the here and the now. What choices you make in the moment are what shpe your future so stop fretting about the past and worry about the now. If you learn to just worry about this moment, the one that is happening this very second and in this second you make good choices, your future will be secured and weight loss will just happen.

It is all about choices and those choices are happening right now. Just worry about now and everthing will be alright for your desire to lose weight loss.
