The Biggest Loser Recap; February 25th, 2009 (Part II)
The Biggest Loser Recap for February 25th, 2009 started off with a pop quiz that had large blowups of Prevention Magazine
and Liz Vaccariello asking questions related to health and aging. There were going to be 3 questions and the team that won would receive a free trip to a place that was referred to as The Fountain of Youth Spa. It was also during this time that there was a “plug” given to the book, The Flat Belly Diet. The 3 questions that were asked were;
Switching from regular soda to diet soda would help you live longer? The answer was between Mandy and Helen and they both chose True as the correct answer.
- Which change would help a person live longer, switching to a low-fat diet or a lower calorie diet? The question was answered by Sione (Black Team) and Cathy (Blue Team) with Sione answering lower calorie to answer correctly.
- Which exercise will help you live longer? Pushups or squats? The answer was fielded by Dane (Blue Team) and Filipe (Black Team) with the Black team winning by answering with squats being the exercise that will help you live longer.
The Biggest Loser and Sensa: Both Seeking Weight Loss
The segment then went right into a built-in commercial for a frozen vegetable that was shown as being good to eat, by Bob Harper. There is one point we wish to make here. The Biggest Loser is really starting to build the commercials into the show, as if they are part of the show. The entire first portion of the show was a commercial from Prevention Magazine to the frozen vegetable bit. We just hope the show does not get out of control with this type of advertising because sooner or later it will hurt viewership. We here at I Choose Thin.com think it really cheapens the worth of the show itself.
The next few minutes were devoted to exercise clips of Jillian getting Filipe to run 12 MPH and showing Mandy being afraid of her new trainer Bob. The cameras kept showing snippets of footage with the contestant’s exercising and sweating. The show then shifted straight to the weigh-in. Do not forget that since The Black Team won the challenge (last night’s episode) they had a 3 pound advantage. The results were as follows;
Blue Team
Dane 325/312, lost 13 pounds. He made history with this weigh in because he was the fastest contestant ever to lose 100 pounds in just 8 weeks.
Aubrey 216/211, lost 5 pounds
Mandi 210/203, lost 7 pounds
Ron 354/349, lost 5 pounds
Kristin 289/279, lost 10 pounds
Cathy 263/249, lost 14 pounds
The Total % of weight loss for The Blue Team was 3.26%
Black Team
Helen 205/198, lost 7 pounds
Laura 241/233, lost 8 pounds
Tara 222/211, lost 11 pounds
Mike 307/297, lost 10 pounds
Filipe 291/283, lost 8 pounds
Sione 296/286, lost 10 pounds
The Total % of weight loss for The Black Team was 3.65%
The Black Team won the weigh-in and that meant one of The Blue Team members had to go home. When the players all returned to the common area of the ranch Ron made the statement that Dane should be the one to be sent home since he had already lost 100 pounds and he would keep losing weight at home. Dane responded with the fact that the knee injury Ron had was a factor that would hurt the team at weigh in time. Then came the vote and the results are listed below;
Aubrey voted for Kristin because she knew that Kristin would not be voted off and Aubrey did not want to cast a vote to send someone home. Dane voted for Ron. Mandi voted for Ron. Ron voted for Dane. Cathy voted for Dane. Kristin cast the deciding voted for Dane. The person voted off The Biggest Loser Couples on February 25, 2009 was Dane. Dane responded with a tearful statement that he was sent home because he excelled….What can you say, it is a game!
The Biggest Loser transformation moment showed Dane and his wife training to run a marathon. Then Dane was seen finishing a marathon in 3 hours and 53 minutes. Dane stated that he may have run his first marathon, but it was not going to be his last marathon. As the previews rolled for next week’s show there were scenes of Mike doing what was referred to as “the most selfless act ever done on the show.” Also there were scenes of Jillian Michaels saying that it was “by far the meanest thing ever done”…to a player.

Biggest Loser Season 7 Couples
The Biggest Loser Season 7 Couples began tonight and it started off with a bang. There were contestants throwing up and Jerry, the oldest Biggest Loser player in history, passed out from low blood pressure. They were the fattest people ever to play the game and it also featured the youngest player ever for the 7 year history of being on American television. The contestants talked about having high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. Bob Harper
and Jillian Michaels
seemed very happy together, almost as if they were married, which they are not. Biggest Loser Season 7 Couples promises to be an exciting year filled with another round of incredible weight loss stories. Maybe we will even get Bob and Jillian to talk about those tattoos they both sport, but never mention.
To see players drop 30 and 40 pounds in just one week was incredible. Realizing that those kinds of numbers can’t be maintained week after week, it was still thrilling to see the look in the eyes of the players. It was not hard to see early on that Daniel, who is only 19 years old and weighs well over 450 pounds, is going to win the heart of America and will do well in the competition.
The big twist of the week was that almost every team, except two, had to send home one player. The rule is that is the one player that stays on campus does not get sent home, and then the team will be reunited on The Biggest Loser campus. If the person that stays on the campus gets voted off then neither of them can come back to the campus. The goal of the show is to show Americans that you too can lose weight even if you are not on the show. The overall theme of The Biggest Loser
is to show America that obesity issues are killing alot of people every year.
Also on the show it was interesting to see the contestants learn about BodyBugg, which is a state of the art techno thing that all contestants wear on their arm to track the amount of calories they not only burn but also allows the information to be downloaded into a computer. The amount of information you can obtain from Bodybugg
is awesome. I think my wife and I are going to take our OBama stimulus money and buy into that product. My wife and I do not get into all the weight loss toys but this is one toy that will really help. We will buy one in the not too distant future.
The start of The Biggest Loser had Bob Harper
and Jillian Michaels
tapping on the screen of your television telling you that it was time to wake up and realize that you needed to stop eating your ice cream and lose some weight because you, as a nation, are dying from a multitude of obesity related ailments. To hear Bob and Jillian tell the camera that 300,000 plus people die each and every year from obesity related issues should be enough to motivate you to make Season 7 the year you too become a big loser!

The Biggest Loser Couples Recap / Review 5 May 2009 Season 7
The Biggest Loser Couples Recap / Review 5 May 2009 Season 7 : Tonight is the last show before the season finale of The Biggest Loser Couples, Season 7. Learn how past season winners are on hand to cheer on the final four contestants. On this episode the players complete a full marathon before they step on the scale. Learn who was the final contestants and learn who will be The Biggest Loser finalists for Season 7. The show started with Allison telling each of the players what their starting weight was from the first episode.
The pictures we were shown of each player from the first episode looked almost as if they were now different people. I guess in a way, they have become different people. Each player was shown, in a fast forward sequece, of how they changed and it was amazing to see the visual change. The episode then interviewed the final 4 players and the excitement they had making it to the final four.
The first real scene of the show was Ron and Mike in a limo talking about how home had not changed but the fact of how they changed. Tara spoke of how she spent 17 weeks changing and now she was going home. Helen spoke of how she lost over 100 pounds and how her family could wrap their arms around her for the first time. Mike was almost in tears about how he had made the change at the age of 18 and now he had his entire life ahead.
Tara was shown walking into an auditorium and Helen went in one also, but in a different location. Ron and Mike went to a restaurant and were shocked at the turnout of all the friends and family. Helen was in tears when she told the crowd she lost 103 pounds. Mike explained how the final four had to go back to the ranch in 30 days for another weigh in. That weigh in was going to determine the finalist. The final test was how well they would do when they were at home.
Mike spoke about how he was a secret drive thru eater. How he would eat in a drive thru at least 1,000 calories on the way home, in secret, so no one knew. Helen said she never wants to go back to 257 pounds. Helen was shocked to see the large size clothing in her closet. She was in tears when she realized how she hid from life because of her weight. She told her husband she wanted to clean her closet and start a new life.
Ron told the camera that his children were obese because of they way he lived his life. Ron said he was going to help ensure the family will be able to change. Ron told his son Max that he would work with him to lose weight. Ron said he was at fault because he never wanted to do anything but sit in front of the television and eat. He said he was ready to change.
Tara said that until she started to lose weight she was not really living, Tara walked into her favorite restaurant and said she was scared. She used to eat whatever she wanted and now she knew better. She said her biggest obstacle was she never asked for help. She was hoping her friends would help her get through the thirty days and beyond. We never saw any of her friends on the show.
Things start to unravel as the 30 days began. Mike said he was hungry all of the time. Ron said he was afraid of slipping into his old routines. Tara then showed the world that the free kitchen make over she won, was given to her Mom. The kitchen she received was really cool. This scene went right into a built in advertisement for a food product. We hate these Tivo proof commercials.
Mike opened the front door, as did Helen and Tara to reveal a Biggest Loser package on their front door steps. Inside was a DVD and Allison was then seen telling the players that the next event was that all of the players were going to run a full marathon. Each of the players were in shock and Ron said he he does not think he ever even walked 26 miles in his life.
Jillian was then seen driving to see Mike’s home and told the camera that he better be at the gym when she gets there. When she arrived Mike was at the gym with his brother, on the treadmill. When she walked in Mike said “Oh Shi*” and Jillian said that was not the welcome she was looking forward to. Jillian asked how he was doing and then Mike told her “not good.” He said how he was trying to get ready for the marathon and still train with his brother. Mike said he was having a really hard time. Soon there was a scene with Jillian sitting in the home kitchen asking Mike how he was doing with his brother. Mike said he was upset because his brother, Max was pathetic. Jillian told him that he needed to stop identifying with Max and tell his brother that he was responsible for himself. She gave a hug to Mike and then the next shot was Jillian walking up to the door of Tara’s home. Jillian was shocked to see Tara’s bedroom was a huge mess. Tara had not even unpacked yet and then revealed to Jillian the fear that she was slipping into her old ways. Tara started to stress and cry with the story of how her addictions went from over eating to compulsively exercising. Jillian then told Tara she had to stop living in extremes and find the balance. They then went to a gym to exercise. Soon there was scene after scene of Jillian putting Tara through her exercise paces. Then Jillian told Tara it was time to go get a drink and something to eat. Jillian told her that in the game of life it was alright to have a drink and a dessert as long as you did not go over board.
Bob Harper then showed up at the home of Ron and said he had no clue that he was coming. Ron was in the kitchen with Max and was shocked when Bob walked in the door. Ron told Bob that shopping for food was the hard thing for him to do since he came home. Bob then met Max and said that he really wanted to see what made Max “tick.” Bob invited Max who said he was looking forward to it. Bob said “fresh meat.” Max was soon in the gym and was sweating alot, soaking wet. Max told the camera that he did not want to let Bob down and then Max started to puke while he was on the treadmill. Bob said that when he got done he would feel better. Ron said “and he would still be alive”.
Bob then asked Max to go get a meal that he would normal eat. He came in the door with what appeared to be a McDonald’s burger, fries and a shake. Bob cut the burger in half, took a fingerful of fies and a shot glass of shake and said that was a healthy portion size. They all then went to a Subway sandwich shop for a healthy meal and another built in commercial.
Jillian was then in her car driving to see Helen. While Helen was in a restaurant trying to find something that she could eat that was healthy. This was the place Helen said she got fat in and was in tears when she saw Jillian. Helen told Jillian she needed help. Jillian said she was there to help and “poof” they were in her kitchen preparing a healthy meal with vegetables and a lot of healthy looking stuff. Jillian said that it was time to have a glass of wine and Helen was shocked. Jillian said it was alright to have a glass because the calories were all under control. Helen was in tears as she said she was having a hard time keeping it all in balance. Jillian said she was having a hard time keeping it all in balance and she was there to help.
The second hour of the Biggest Loser began with the question of who was going to finish the marathon and who was going to be the Biggest Loser. Mike said he was just going to go out and just run further every day. Tara admitted she was not in marathon shape and Ron spoke of his fears of not being able to even complete the marathon. Mike said he was going to complete it. Mike said he was out running when all of a sudden his hip had extreme pain and he had to go to the hospital. Tara said she dreamed about not being able to complete the marathon in a dream she had each and every night.
Allison told the players that anyone who finished the 26 miles would get a $10,000 cash prize for their favorite charity. They learned that the course would be over all types of terrain. Mike said he was upset because his doctor told him he could not run and that he had to walk because of the hip pain he was experiencing. The run started at 7:00 AM. Mike said that he was shocked to be in a marathon so soon and Helen said one year ago she would not get off the couch. Ron said he was going to finish this challenge.
At mile marker 4 Helen met her husband and he started to run with her. Max met his brother and his Father and started to walk with them. There was scene after scene of each player and the hills were fairly impressive. Max was having a really hard time. Max had to stop and let Mike go on alone. The showing Max did was impressive. Mike was then telling the camera that he was concerned about where his Dad was. Ron was then saying how much his knees were hurting and he said he wanted to finish, but he may not be able to finish. Ron said his knees really started to hurt at mile number five.
Tara was jogging along and then came up on Ali, a previous winner. Ali then told Tara she was an inspiration and that inspired Tara. Helen was then fearful because her husband stopped running and felt all alone. Then she came upon Michelle, another Biggest Loser winner. That moment brought an amazing amount of energy back to Helen. Tara then finished mile 21, 22, 23 and the fact that she was doing it motivated her. Mike was then talking to the camera about how he was upset he could not run. Then he was met by Bernie, another Biggest Loser winner. Mike then told Bernie he did not feel like he was really doing a marathon. Bernie told him to stop griping becaue even though he was walking, he WAS doing a marathon.
At the last mile Jillian met Tara and Tara told Jillian to get out of the way because she had a marathon to finish. At 4:55:11 Tara finished the full marathon. A screen shot then showed her before she lost her weight telling the camera that you can manifest your own destiny. Helen then came through the line at 5:48 with an unbelievable look on her face. Helen then was shown before her weight loss talking about how she wanted to be able to run a marathon. The clouds then flashed past the screen and Mike crossed the line at 8:58:04 carrying the final Biggest Loser mile marker. MIke then said he completed the marathon and nobody could take that from him. They were then told they were still waiting for Ron. Soon Ron was shown sitting down and he was shaking and they took his blood pressure and blood sugar. His blood pressure was 202 over 90 and they were going to decide to take him to the hospital or not. Doctor H. then said it was up to Ron and he started to walk again. At the 17 mile marker all of the Biggest Loser previous winners greeted him and started to walk with him. At mile #21 Bob Harper met them all and started to walk with the group. Bob said he never saw Ron so determined. Bob said he was determined and that is what he needed. Ali was holding Ron’s hand as they were walking in the dark. Cop cars had lights flashing and traffic slowed as the group pushed on to the end. Ron said all the help and talking from the earlier winners and Bob motivated him to continue. Max was then seen joining the group and Max was in tears as he met his Dad. As Ron crossed the line with a cane at 13:16:19 Mike greeted him with a huge hug and Max joined in for what was a touching moment. Allison then presented each player with a big check to give to a charity of their choice. Allison said “see you back at the ranch.”
Tara then said this was the final weigh in before the finale. Mike said this event was the biggest thing he has ever done in his life. Tara was told she set the record for the most weight lost by a woman ever on the campus. Mike was told he lost more weight that anybody ever lost on campus. Ron and Helen set the record as being the oldest man and woman ever on campus. The final thee finalists were about to be chosen.
Mike: 224/214 lost 10 pounds 174 pounds total 4.46% for the week
Helen: 154/147 lost 7 pounds. 110 pounds total 4.55% for the week. She secured a spot in the final three.
We here at I Choose Thin love all of the players but if we can voice our opinion (Sure we can, we own the site) We would like to see Mike in the final three because of his age. He is young and this would be the greatest single thing in his life. Ron would love to see it too and we bet he would like you to vote for Mike too.
To vote to save Mike: 1-866-613-0002
Ron: 1-866-613-0001
Check back next week to see WHO IS THE BIGGEST LOSER for Sesaon 7!!!
What’s That Thing On The Arms of The Biggest Loser?
This blog has grown in popularity quite a bit. We have no official connection with The Biggest Loser at all, other than the fact that we think it is an awesome show. We love to watch Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels
do their thing and watch the weight fall off the contestants. We have been getting a lot of questions about what are the things that are on the arms of the people on The Biggest Loser. We get asked the question at least 50 times a day. The question may be different, but the theme of the questions are the same.
People ask what is the thing on their arms? What do they wear under the sleeves? Where do we get the device they wear? The Biggest Loser, Season 7: Bob Harper’s Meltdown
January 13, 2009: The Episode of The Biggest Loser that aired tonight was one that forced the members to vote off one of the two people that needed to be on the ranch the most. When the weigh in was done the two players that were below the dreaded yellow line were the young and most obese player ever, 19 year old Dan and the oldest player in history, Jerry. The decision over who to send home was at first an difficult one, but was soon decided and it turned out that the choice was the best one that could have been made.
Everyone was hoping that Joelle was going to be the one sent home after her behavior caused Bob Harper to have a Zen blowout. When Joelle was not able to do the demanded 30 second treadmill run the words exchanged between Bob and Joelle were the most explicative ever uttered by Bob Harper. It was almost comical to see the reaction from Jillian Michaels
as she bore witness to Bob’s emotional meltdown. The actual words used by Bob had to be edited out of the show and it makes one wonder just how much of a nice guy Bob really is when the camera is not rolling? Don’t worry Bob, America still loves you and your behavior was proven fairly justifiable by the results of the weight-in.
When the weigh in was done Joelle was caught saying that despite not falling below the yellow line it was nothing to be proud about. She was just above the percentage mark and she was not happy that she barely beat the oldest and the most obese person on the show. It is widely believed that this may have shocked Joelle into what weight loss reality is all about on the ranch of The Biggest Loser. Joelle may be seen in future episodes melting the treadmill with newfound motivation. Joelle may have realized that Bob Harper
was dead on right about her mouth doing all the exercise while her body did little of nothing in the gym.
At the end of it all the members decided to send home the older contestant, Jerry. They did this because they knew Jerry would have a support at home and Dan would never be able to sustain the weight loss unless he stayed on the ranch and worked with the trainers. When Jerry left and the show was ending the decision by the members proved thoughtful and true. Jerry and wife were doing fine and still were losing weight.
As we roll into next week it will be interesting to learn how Joelle performs. Will she step it up or will Bob continue to meltdown? Either way The Biggest Loser Season 7 is turning out to be a darned good show and I for one love to watch it unfold.
——————————————————————————–
There were some fairly profound statements on the show and we present them here.
To lose weight…”The reason why needs to be big enough.”
“The biggest competition is myself.” (When talking about weight loss”)
Although neither you nor I can spend as much time exercising as they do 6, 7 or 8 hours a day on the ranch, we can still lose weight using the same principles. Healthy eating, exercising and diet are all a person needs to do to lose weight. Bob Harper says it, Jillian Michaels says it and it is the theme of The Biggest Loser
and also here at I Choose Thin. Losing weight needs to begin in the mind, travel through the heart and manifest itself on the scale. In order to lose weight and be able to keep it off it needs to be something that happens inside your very soul first and foremost. The Biggest Loser
advocates healthy weight loss through proper nutrition and exercise and I Choose Thin only complements what you see on your television.
The Biggest Loser Recap: January 27, 2009
1/27/2009 Episode of The Biggest Loser. Bookmark this website for updates on The Biggest Loser episode scheduled for January 27, 2009. This site is a HUGE Biggest Loser fan and wants to provide you with the latest events of the show. We will recap and go over the entire episode. You will learn how the player was sent home and all the emotions that were involved.
Tonight was a pretty good show. The partners were brought back to the ranch to witness the weigh in, but were not part of the weigh in. The returning partners weigh in is scheduled to take place in the first ten minutes of the show that airs next week on February 3, 2009.
Bob Harper stated that Joelle was doing “excellent” and that he has seen an awakening in her spirit. Blaine left for two days to be with his wife for the birth of his child, who arrived healthy.
Australian Chef Curtis Stonearrived to show everyone how to make healthier food choices. There was going to be an award to the winner of the challenge for a two pound pass and a visit at their home with Curtis Stone. The contestants had to guess what the calorie content was for some dishes of food, without going over. These were the choices:
Chicken wings, ranch dressing and celery: Total calories were 991 and Dan guessed 800 to win.
Bread bowl chili with sour cream: Total calories were 1165 and Kristin guessed 834 to win.
7 Layer dip: Total calories were 1765 and Helen guessed 1500 to win.
The semi final winners then advanced to the final round where they had to guess the calorie content of Curtis’s meal. Dan guessed 230 to win the final round and the 2 pound pass for his home bound partner on the next weigh in. Having won the challenge they then went off to a Wal-Mart to buy groceries from the fresh produce center. It was interesting to see Wal-Mart on the Biggest Loser as we here have no memory of them ever being advertised.
It was at this point that a map flashed across the screen showing that the Biggest Loser Ranch is located in Malibu, California. (We only throw that in because so many people have asked where The Biggest Loser Ranch is located.)
Bob Harper then brought in some platforms to make his trainees jump up onto. He wanted to help them grow in confidence and to show them they could reach those heights from a stationary position and jump onto them.
The scene now shifted to a football field for all of the contestants to play against one another for team immunity. The challenge was for them to have to get five footballs in every other player’s box and be the last one on the field. To everyone’s surprise, Kurt Warner arrived on the scene and he is a football player extraordinaire. He has been the NFL MVP twice and was also the MVP for Super Bowl 34. He was there to motivate the players but he appeared to take a liking to Dan as it was seen in the distance him prodding him along to finish. The contestants received 5 balls in the following order. Filipe, Tara, Dane, Kristin, Mandy, Dan, Mike, Joelle, and the one who never received 5 was Helen and she won the immunity for herself and her daughter Shanon.
We then switched to a staged scene, with all involved doing some bad acting showing us, the audience, the benefit for eating a certain cereal. Bob, quit the commercials, please!! Either that or get better scripts!!!
It was not until we were half way through the show before Jillian Michaels showed up on the scene. She said a comment about Dan that he was more talk than he was action and that he did n0t follow through on what he said he was going to do. Jillian was disappointed with him, or at least it seemed to show through to us, the audience. During a round on the treadmill Jillian kept yelling at Dan and then Dan fell down. Jillian just kept yelling at him to get up. Jillian made him get up and he almost started to cry and then Jillian went into one of her classic touchy feely what is at the core of your weight problem conversation. She got him up on the tread mill and then pushed him to a point of a run where he was able to achieve a completion. From that point on she stopped tearing him down and tried to help build him up. Dan was upset that he was never going to be able to achieve his dreams of being thin.
At the start of the weigh in all of the contestants that were sent home walked into the Biggest Loser Gym. The players were then weighed in and the results were as follows. Ron and Mike (Brown) lost 7 amd 9 pounds respectively. Blaine (Black) lost 11 pounds Dane (Black) lost 15 pounds, Filipe (Blue) lost 13 pounds and gave a heartfelt thanks to Bob Harper. Tara (Green) lost 12 pounds, Kristin (purple) lost 12 pounds, Mandi (Yellow) lost 10 pounds, Dan (Orange) lost 12 pounds, Joelle (Silver) lost 10 pounds Helen (Pink) who had immunity, lost 6 pounds.
The two teams that had the lowest percentage of weight loss for the week were the Brown Team and the Orange Team. The teams then went to debate who should stay and who should go home. David the home bound partner revealed he could lose the same amount of weight at home, and kind of sort of said, that he would not mind going home. This outraged some of the players.
Orange Team = Dan and Dave
Brown Team = Ron and Mike
The votes were as follows. Pink Team (Helen and Shanon) voted to send home Orange, Yellow Team (Mandi and Aubrey) voted to send home Brown, Purple Team(Kristin and Cathy) voted to send home Orange, Black Team (Blaine and Dane) voted to send home Brown, Green Team (Laura and Tara) voted to send home Brown. Silver Team (Joelle and Carla) voted to send home Orange and the Blue Team (Filipe and Sione) voted to send home Orange.
The end result of the vote for The Biggest Loser January 27, 2009 was to send home the Orange Team, Dan and David.
For the recap at the end of the Biggest Loser Moment ,Dan has gone on to lose 60 pounds and David lost 46 pounds. Dan no longer needs to take his oral diabetes medicine and David said he quit smoking

The Biggest Loser Recap / Review March 17 2009
The Biggest Loser Recap / Review March 17 2009: This episode of The Biggest Loser started off where last weeks episode ended, and that was at the elimination table. The tears and the emotions were running high as the elimination from the previous week was now freshly being shown as part of the start of this episode.
As the scene was ending Alison Sweeney said that it was not over yet and then The Black Team walked into the elimination room. Alison then said someone else was going home and then it was announced that everyone was returning home to be in their normal lives for one week. Then the scenes shifted back and forth between the players who were mentioning that they had been on the ranch for ten weeks now and how they were excited and yet afraid of returning home. Alison wished them all luck and then reminded them that their friends and families would be a distraction and they had to return in one week for the next weigh in. Helen told the camera that she was afraid because of all the bad choices she had made the last time she was off The Biggest Loserranch.
Soon there were scenes of airplanes and the destination of all the players as the planes were flying and as they traveled through the airports and all the way to their front door. Then there weree scenes of each of the players walking in the front door of their homes.
Tara, who has lost 94 pounds was greeted by her teary eyed mother who cried out that she “looked like a different person.” Aubrey, who has lost 49 pounds was met at the airport by her husband and he did not even recognize her. Laura, who lost 58 pounds was met by her Mom who was amazed. Helen, who lost 68 pounds was saying that she was “always a yo-yo dieter” was met by her entire family wearing pink shirts. Her husband was amazed and stated that he “can’t believe how thin she got.” Sione who lost 95 pounds walked in with Filipe who lost 91 pounds. Filipe’s wife said “it was as if 1/2 of him was gone and he looked like a different person.” Cathy who lost 51 pounds was met by her husband who said “I had to take a double look” to be sure it was her. Kristin, who lost 97 pounds was met by her sisters who looked almost as if they were twins. Ron, who lost 93 pounds was met by his wife who said he looked incredible and that he looked fantastic. Mike who lost an incredible 110 pounds was met by his brother Max who is very over weight. When Max saw how much weight his brother and father lost he started to cry. It was at that moment when Max realized that he was the now the heaviest person in his house. Ron, the Dad, said that “his reaction made me feel bad.” Up until this point of the show, it was by far, the most touching moment.

After a commercial break the door bell started to ring at the homes of all the players. When they answered the door, they each had what appeared to be a large Biggest Loser cookie tin right outside. When the tins were brought into the homes it was revealed to contain nine large sugar cookies and one DVD. The DVD had Alison explaining to all the players that there was a challenge about to start. They each had to run a 1/2 marathon, which consisted of 13.1 miles. The person with the fastest completion time would win a $10,000 prize. The only catch was that if a player ate a cookie, then they could tack on five minutes onto the time of any player they chose.
Sione stated that it was not about the money, it was about a life change. He said he was not going to eat a cookie and he would run and give it his best time. Up until this point the only person who appeared to have eaten a cookiewas Helen and she said she was giving the five minute penalty to Tara.
The next scenes were of the different players out running. Some were outdoors while others were inside on tracks. As the scenes progressed there were many shots of the players in a struggle to finish the run. Tara said she just had to “keep going” while Sione, at the 12.6 mile mark said “finish this.” At the final 200 yards Sione could not run anymore as he was getting cramps in his leg and he had to lay down on the road. He said he never felt such intense pain before and he had to stop. That cramp cost him some time which caused the final results to be as follows;
Tara: 2:24:19
Sione: 2:25:57
Helene: 2:49:19
Aubrey: 2:53:02 (Mandi, who was voted off last week ran with her)
Cathy: 3:15:21
Mike: 3:19:38
Laura: 3:24:00
Filipe: 3:24:05
Kristin: 3:43:45
Mike: Completed a 4 mile walk in 1:52:34 and stopped because of his bad knee. He said that he never had any expectation to go the full 13.1 miles and was proud that he was able to walk the four miles.
The next few scenes were moments of the life of the players in their everyday moments. Seeing Aubrey loading her five children in the family van was a job in itself. During this time she discused how important it was for her to find the time needed to exercise and take the needed time for herself. Kristin was shown leading her family on a treadmill saying “I need to stay focused.” Laura told the camera that she was taking Jillian Michaelsadvice to do “cardio, cardio, cardio.” Mike and Ron were in a pizzeria with some really tastey looking pizza and cookies. (They both resisted the food) Laura told her husband to chew gum to help his cravings for sweet stuff. Helen showed the most emotional scene as she was shopping with her husband in a grocery store. She said she was afraid of returning to her old ways of “cake and bread” and was afraid to be in the store. Helen then said “something clicked” and then said “I started to make the right choices, I got this!” She was in tears as she stated this to the camera.
There was then a quick commercial with Bob Harper talking about Bayer Counterto test your blood sugar level as the second hour of the show started. This hour began with Aubrey walking into the home of her father and it was revealed that he is well over 500 pounds. Aubrey tried to speak to him about his weight problem and told him that he will die soon if he does not get started. Despite the rebukes by the dad about how he was starting, it was obvious it was not really his intention. Chances are, he will more than likely do nothing and die before his time and become part of the obesity statistics of the world. It was very clear to the camera that Aubrey did not get her message through to him. It was a very sad momnent indeed.
Next there were scenes of the players packing up to return to the the ranch and as they arrived Alison met them in the gym to reveal the outcome of the 1/2 marathon, and who won the $10,000. The times of the players revealed that the only two possible winners would be either Tara or Sione. It was soon revealed that Tara had the best time ,but unfortunatly for her, Helen was the only one to eat a cookie, which applied a five minute penalty to cause Tara to lose and Sione to win. Tara was shocked and angry all at once because Helen had no reason to eat that cookie and assign the points to her, as she had no chance of winning. Once again it revealed the lack of maturity, or common sense of Helen. She really ticked off Tara, who had good reason to get angry at Helen. Sione won the $10,000 and said when the show was over he planned on using the money to take his family on along vacation.
The next scenes were the first scenes with Jillian Michaelsand Bob Harper. By the lack of their presence on the show it is starting to become obvious that the viewing audience is being weaned off their presence on the show. It is starting to become obvious that they may not be back for the next season. Jillian told the camera “They won’t know what hit them” while Bob said “back in my house.” He then voiced his frustration as to the fact that The Blue Team has not won a single weigh in. It was an odd workout for all because of their absence from the ranch. Everyone was just trying to get back on track.
At the weigh in, it was once again The Blue Team against The Black Team. The results were as follows;
BLACK TEAM
Mike: 278/270 lost 8 pounds
Laura: 226/220 lost 6 pounds. Jillian told the camera “She changed (referring to her @ home) Thank God!!!
Tara: 200/198 lost 2 pounds. Jillian comforted Tara telling her she over trained. Jillian then became annoyed with Tara because she was not listening and became so upset over only losing 2 pounds and told her “you are not the trainer, Listen to me.”
Sione: 277/273 lost 4 pounds. Jillian made the statement that he had such a poor showing because he was not working out with her anymore. She stated that was a reflection of his “horrible weight loss.”
Helen: 189/182 lost 7 pounds
The Black Team lost 34 pounds for a total of 2.35% body weight lost.
BLUE TEAM
Aubrey: 200/195 lost 5 pounds
Ron: 337/327 lost 10 pounds. This was an emotional scene as the son, Mike, walked up and gave his father a hug. Mike then told the camera how happy he was and how proud he was of his father. He bragged about how old he was yet still able to lose so much weight. Bob Harper said “Can I get an Amen, Thank you Jesus!!!” Ron had now lost a total of 103 pounds.
Kristin: 263/264 GAINED 1 pound. Bob Harpersaid “Kristin is not ready to go home yet.”
Kathy: 242/241 lost 1 pound.
The end result was that The Blue Team lost again. They have never beaten The Black Team. As Bob was leaving, Kristin was in tears and she said to Bob “what if there is no next week?” Aubrey was upset because she “had an awesome week and yet she could not celebrate.” Ron said “losing is getting old” while Aubrey feared that her success at home may cause her to be sent home tonight. Cathy said that “she was ready to go home, to protect her child.”
The players then went to the elimination room to vote off the next player and the vote was as follows;
Aubrey voted for Cathy and Ron voted for Cathy also. The real tear jerker was when it came time for Kristin to vote because she wantted to honor her Mom’s wishes, but did not want to vote her home. Then Kristin revealed she voted for her Mom and Cathy became the next player to be voted off The Biggest Loser. Kristin was the player voted off and sent home on The Biggest Loser March 17 2009.
The Biggest Loser Transformation moment was touching as Cathy revealed that it felt so good to be healthy as she is a recovering alcoholic and that she went from one addiction to another. Booze, then food and then exercise and finaly being healthy.” She said “you can change your life” to the camera. She went from 293 pounds to 215 pounds, as of tonight. Then, her other daughters were on the screen telling they lost weight since Mom came home. One daughter lost 15 pounds, while the other lost 48 pounds.
Thanks for stopping by today and be sure to visit next week when The Biggest Loser reveals who will be the first woman to lose 100 pounds while on The Biggest Loser ranch.
The Biggest Loser Update and Review: February 24, 2009 (Part I)
The Biggest Loser episode that aired on February 24, 2009 was sort of interrupted by a speech by the President and the final portion of The Biggest Loser will be on TV tomorrow, February 25th, 2009. That is the episode that will determine what player is sent home. Only one hour of the show aired tonight and what happened is reviewed here. As the show started there was an interview with Helen, from The Pink Team talking to the camera about her doubts that her daughter Shanon went home. There was alot of talk “on the street” about how selfish Helen was to have let her daughter be sent home. That selfishness did not show on this episode, at least none we feel needs to be mentioned in this recap of the show.
The teams soon learned that they were all going to be split up and new trainers would be assigned. How this was all going to work out was through a challenge and then the flip of a coin. The challenge consisted of starting from the prone position, which really meant lying in the mud, the player had to get up and jump to touch a coin hanging over them. After touching the coin the players were then required to get back into the mud in the prone position. The first player to touch The Biggest Loser coin 100 times would win the challenge. The winner of the challenge would then be allowed to choose the trainer and then that choice would also include the team mate. The player that came in last place would HAVE to use the other trainer while everyone in the middle would have their fate decided by the flip of The Biggest Losercoin.
The race was a runaway with the only real competitors being Sione and Tara. It was really close and it all came down to less than just a couple of seconds with Tara muscling it out to claim victory. The mud that was on the ground made this a very difficult challenge because the water and the mud really wore the contestants down quickly. The outcome of the entire challenge was The Blue Team being in second place had to flip the coin to decide whether they keep their trainer or have to switch. The coin flip was not merciful and The Blue Team Sione and Filipe were forced to switch sides to become Black Team players. Sione and Filipe were really not happy about having to train with Jillian. They were not being disrespectful to Jillian Michaelsin any way. They were just very upset that they had to leave Bob Harper.
The Biggest Loser should explore Sensa as a Weight Loss Option
The Yellow Team (Mandi and Aubrey) ended up being on the new Blue Team with Bob Harper while Dane went over to the new Blue Team. When it came to The Brown Team Ron and Mike had the choice to decide which team they wanted to be training with. It was shocking to see them decide to split up and Ron went to The Blue Team while Mike went to The Black Team. They both agreed it would be best if they split up because that would give Mike a better chance at staying on The Biggest Loserranch longer. The Purple Team (Kristin and Cathy) just ended up together on the Blue Team.
New Blue Team members: Ron, Kristin, Cathy, Aubrey and Mandi.
New Black Team members: Sione, Filipe, Dane, Mike and Helen.
The change of trainers and team mates was not received very well by anyone on either team. Bob pulled his new team together and started to cry. This was portrayed as Bob Harper’s cracking and he stated that “it was the hardest thing he ever had to do on The Biggest Loser.” There was a lot of crying by both Bob and the players over the split. It was interesting that Jillian Michaels did not get that upset and that all of emotions by Bob Harpershowed, were in direct contrast to his emotions during Bob Harper’s
meltdown with Joelle. It has left some here wondering if this episode of crying by Bob Harper was nothing more than a silent request for redemption with the American public? Maybe all the heat Bob took made him want to show the world he really is not a raging, raving and cursing person. Who knows. Just a thought!
After a commercial break the episode lead right into a series of commercials built into the show. The opening scene showed a player opening the new Biggest Loser book; 30 Day Jump Start. The attention then shifted to Jillian Michaelsplugging Ziploc
storage bags and how they will benefit people trying to keep fresh, healthy food fresh.
The next scene was a first in Biggest Loser history. They players were required to keep two bikes going for 24 hours. The team that had traveled the greatest distance in 24 hours would win the challenge and that team would gain a 3 pound advantage at the weigh in. As the 24 hour clock ticked to zero there were scenes showing all of the different players getting on and off the bikes. There was alot of complaining and griping and at one point The Blue Team called for a truce to just stop. At the moment when it looked like they were all going to quit, Sione stepped in and said he would not quit. He said that he wanted to finish it for himself. He said that he has always given up on losing weight in the past and this was not going to be like that. Sione rallied everyone to go all the way to finish the 24 hour bike run.
The winner after the 24 hour challenge turned out to be The (new) Black Team with 301.9 miles to The (new) Blue Team having gone 264 miles. Tara had rode an incredible 58.8 miles, all by herself, to lead her team to the victory.
Then the show just ended and the next thing we saw was something about The President making a speech. Not that we are not interested in what he had to say, but that is not why you came here. The Biggest Loser Couples Recap / Review March 31 2009
The Biggest Loser Couples Recap / Review March 31 2009; The show started off with a flashback to last week’s episode and the discussion of who needed to be sent home. The discussion revolved around Ron saying that Filipe needed to go home and this really annoyed Filipe. Filipe said that he wanted Ron to be sent home. This seemed out of revenge and the viewer could tell this was a simmering emotion that Filipe was carrying inside of himself.
Kristin was then speaking to the camera and said that you never know what is going to happen on The Biggest LoserRanch and the next scene showed all of the players walking onto the gym. When they were walking into the room they were greeted by Ali Vincient, who won two seasons ago. She was also the first female to win the contest of The Biggest Loser.
The players were met not only by Ali but also the rules of what was about to happen. Everyone was told that everything was about to change on the campus and that three players that were sent home earlier in the year were about to come back for another chance to be on the show and come back to the ranch. With that said Nicole (Red Team), Estella (White Team) and David (Orange Team) all came walking back into the room. Estelle had lost some weight and it was disappointing to see how little weight David had lost. What was a real shocker was to see how much weight Nicole had lost while she was at home. She looked really thin and healthy.
What happened next was a mini-weigh in of the returning players. As it turned out, Estella lost a respectable 45 pounds and David lost 46 pounds and still weighed in at 347 pounds. What was a real shocker was the fact that Nicole had lost a whopping 87 pounds and that amounted to losing 32.34% of her body weight. Nicole was the player that earned the right to return to The Biggest Loser Ranch. It was also revealed that Nicole had the second highest % of weight loss among all of the players at the ranch, other than Tara. This fact shocked the entire player roster into a state of shock, especially Tara and became the topic for the rest of the show. Everyone now feared Nicole as the biggest threat.
Tara stated there was “a new person in the house.” and Helen showed Nicole around and then got her alone to warn her of how hard the game was being played. This scene quickly gave way to a series of scenes that showed player after player having a private conversation with Nicole. There were scenes of all the players giving Nicole advice and it ended with Nicole telling America that she just needed to watch her back.
Soon it was early morning and Nicole decided to go for a run. While on that run she met Tara and Tara was shown almost in a frenzy talking quickly about facts and statistics of the players on the ranch. Nicole later told the camera that Tara was talking so fast and that she really did not trust Tara at all. This entire conversation took place on what was called The Presidential Mile, which apparently is the road that approaches the ranch. We only mention this because we have no record of it ever being discussed before.
Bob Harper then appeared for the first time of the episode and we saw him walking into the house and his mouth was wide open when he saw Nicole and how much weight she had lost on her own, at home. Bob Harperwas in complete, un-staged and utter shock at how skinny Nicole had become.
Jilian Michaelswas first seen having a conversation with Tara. It was apparent that Tara was about to have a complete emotional breakdown. Tara started to ramble about how she felt about life on the ranch and then Jillian was talking to America about how Tara had all these emotions bubbling inside of her. Tara then confided to Jillian that she was afraid to go home because she did not want to go back to her old habits and gain all her weight back again. Jillian said the conversation was really good because Tara was able to see the fact that she had emotional issues with weight loss for the first time.
Bob then walked into the gym with Kristin and Sione. Both players expressed concern to Bob about the fact that if Mike fell below the line, that he would vote to save Mike. They just acknowledged to Bob that they were concerned with the loyalty of Ron to their team. Bob Harpersaid they were right and they had better just start exercising.
Next there was a commercial built into the show with Jillian promoting a cereal and the importance of breakfast. Then lo! and behold! she just happened to have a convenient box of cereal in the cupboards that she suggested they eat for breakfast. Gosh how we hate those Tivo proof commercials that are built right into the show. This commercial transitioned into scenes of all the players working out and then we saw Ron walking on what we were again told is The Presidential Mile. Ron approached Bob and told him he was having chest pains and was dizzy. Ron said he felt like “someone was standing on his chest.”
Soon we saw Ron leaving the campus in an ambulance and being told that he was suffering from internal blood loss, and they did not know why. He was met by Dr. Huzienga who told Ron he needed to have a double balloon enteroscopy. What we soon learned was that he did not have a heart attack but instead was suffering from two bleeding ulcers in a portion of his stomach area that he no longer used. Ron had weight loss surgery years ago and the section that had the ulcers were the area that had been bypassed. He was also told that he was a very lucky man. He was able to return to the ranch but he would be returning with a severe disadvantage. The hospital had filled him with nine bags of saline solution, which is just salt water, and also two pints of blood. The salt water could prove to be a huge problem at the weigh in as it could have a major impact on his weight.
Soon there was the challenge and the players were all walking out towards a large swimming pool in the night time air. There were greeted by last season Biggest Loser winner Michelle Aguilar who was hosting this challenge. This contest consisted of 40 ropes strung across the width of the pool for each player. These ropes all went under an individual player’s wooden platform. Each player had one rope hanging vertically over their head that they could hold onto with one hand. The players had to see who would be able to balance on their platform the longest as individual ropes were pulled away from underneath the boards. As each rope was removed it became more and more of a challenge to remain balanced and not fall into the pool.
One by one the ropes were removed and the players started to fall into the pool below. The order of their falling was as follows:
Mike, Filipe, Laura, Tara, Helen, Nicole, Mike and then soon all that were left was Kristin and Sione. Sione then gave Kristin what could only be referred to as a “death glare” because he had an intent to remain long enough to win the contest. After the one hour mark Kristin lost her balance and fell into the pool. Sione had won the contest and the right to have a one pound advantage at the weigh-in.
Soon there was another cheesy built in anti-Tivo commercial about storage containers. As the show progressed we heard Bob say he was going outside to do their work out and went to Muscle Beach at Santa Monica, California. Jilian Michaelswas seen in the gym stating this weigh-in was “fear based” because the odds were stacked against her and her team. Nicole was seen crying at the beach to Bob because she was so happy to back on the show. Then Bob told her that she needed to settle down because if she remained so stressed, it could affect her weight loss.
Ron soon walked into the bedroom of his son Mike and it was a joyful reunion but Ron told Mike of the big disadvantage he would have at the weigh-in because of his hospital stay.
The weigh-in began and Alison Sweeney was back and it was revealed that she had her baby and was glad to be back on the show. The weigh in then began and the results were as follows;
Nicole: 182/187 GAINED 5 pounds
When Nicole stepped on the scale and it was revealed that she gained five pounds the faces on everyone was that of shock, Tara had a faint smile and Bob said it was all the stress she held inside of herself and Helen made the comment that “light bulbs went off” as the other players realized that they each had a better chance to stay another week. Nicole had lost her immunity since she gained weight.
Kristin: 255/251 lost 4 pounds
Laura: 213/214 GAINED 1 pound When she saw she gained weight she started to shed tears, but was able to hold them back.
Tara: 195/189 lost 6 pounds. She said she “finally got it” about weight loss and that she knew why she was there and why she got there and the fact that she never wanted to be overweight again. It was the “aha moment” that Jillian had been hoping Tara would one day have.
Helen: 177/171 lost 6 pounds
Sione: 266/260 lost 6 pounds
Filipe: 262/256 lost 4 pounds
Mike: 264/253 lost 11 pounds. He was very happy with that weight loss and someone in our audience made the comment that “hey he is not a bad looking kid.” It was obvious the physical changes that were going on with him at this weigh-in.
Ron: 317/320 GAINED 3 pounds.

The elimination had come down to the recently returned Nicole and the loving father, Ron. The next scene showed the players pleading to stay and the arguments went as such:
Nicole; ” I am trying really hard to be strong and not break down.” She went on to talk about how everyone was so loving to her when she arrived and that she hoped they would all be true to her and how they spoke to her on the day she recently returned to the ranch. Ron said “Week #4 I asked you to save my son, now I am asking you to save me” Mike (the son) then stated that his Dad needed to be on the ranch.” Ron then revealed to that he has now been below the yellow line 5 times already. The vote for elimination went as follows:
Mike: Voted for Nicole ”My choice was easy.” He voted for Nicole to save his father.
Filipe: Voted for Ron. Mike got upset and semi glared at Filipe and then there was discussion as to whether Filipe had lied about how he was going to vote. Sione defended himself and stated he never made any promise to save Ron.
Laura: Voted for Nicole because “Nicole scares me and Ron needs to be here.”
Sione: Voted for Ron and said all the discussion about who needed to be there was nonsense. He went on to state that soon everyone would soon be home and they needed to be able to live off the ranch. Sione said that he did not care if he was sent home because “I’m gonna kill this at home.”
Helen: Voted for Ron and said “I was glad to see Nicole” and that she voted with her heart.
Kristine: Voted for Nicole because “Nicole deserves to be here, but does not need to be here.”
The person voted off The Biggest LoserCouples 31 March 2009 episode was Nicole. She had only been back on the ranch for one short week and again she was being sent home.
The Biggest Loser Transformation Moment was centered around the fact that Nicole was going to purchase her wedding drees. There were flashbacks to when she went shopping when she was a size 24 and then she was shown in her dress today, which was a size 12. Nicole had lost a total of 105 pounds and has the goal to get down to a size 8 dress.
Next there was the scene that spoke of the deal for anyone who signed up for 24HourFitness. They were advised that if they mentioned The Biggest Loser the initiation fee would be waived.
Next week’s previews were shown very quickly and it has something to do with the players eating alot of cupcakes on some sort of binge that really upset Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels.

The Biggest Loser Couples Recap / Review April 14 2009
The Biggest Loser Couples Recap / Review April 14 2009; This episode was the one that the contestants on The Biggest Loser Ranch look forward to the most. After many weeks of sweating and workouts they were treated like royalty and Hollywood stars. This is really the first time they get to show off the new bodies they have worked so hard to obtain. This episode is the one where they receive a complete makeover from head to toe. They all had their hair done and receive all new designer clothing and generally just had fun. Fashion guru Tim Gunnhelped transform the players in this “makeover” episode.
The show started off with Filipe missing Sione going home from the previous week. Filipe sat down with Kristine and talked about the goodbye note he received from Sione. He said Sione was not just a partner, but one of his family. Sione was all choked up as he spoke to the camera about how he had to become a better competitor. Kristin and Filipe said that Jillian had not lost a single player in seven weeks. Both of them agreed that they were not going to let Bob Harper down this season and were going to bring home a win for him.
The next scene was everyone walking out in the hills and approaching a canyon. Alison Sweeney told them they had to cross the canyon on a rope. They had to be on a rope holding on to one rope while walking on another rope. They were about as high as a 10 story buiding. All of the players spoke of how they were afraid of heights. Kristin told America that you had to be there to realize how high they really were.
When it started Mike said he felt he was going to die. Ron quit after about 40 feet because of his knee. Filipe and Mike had an early lead. Tara lost her footing and fell off, but her safety line saved her. Filipe took off since Tara struggled so much to get back on the rope. Tara actually started to catch up with Filipe while Mike said he felt like he was still on the starting platform. Filipe and Tara were in what Alison said was a “horse race.” It came down to a battle and to the wire for the last 100 feet. The final few feet came down to being all uphill and Tara caught up and passed Filipe and snatched the victory from Filipe in the last few seconds. What she won was a $25,000 home kitchen makeover. Mike was happy to finish and felt proud that he just made it to the other end. After the very end Alison told everyone that this was going to be the make-over week on The Biggest Loser.
All of the players said they were thrilled to receive a makeover. Filipe joked that a haircut alone would knock 3 pounds off his weight. They all arrived in Macy’s and met Tim Gunn, who is well known for project runway. He also told the players they were getting a complete makeover so they can be at a Hollywood movie premiere. Tim Gunn said that when a person needs an entire new wardrobe it can be a shocking and difficult experience.
Mike said that when he used to shop for clothing he never put much choice into what he picked because he was happy to just get what fit. Tara said it felt like it was like the days she used to model. Helen told Tim Gunn that she was overwhelmed and it “was happening” and she was ready to choose new clothing. Helen was in tears and Tim Gunn said he would help her and gave her a big hug.
Soon everyone walked into a room and the clothing they were getting was on mannequins. In the pockets of each outfit were $1,000.00 Macy’s gift cards for them to use when they went home.
For the fashion makeover portion they started to cut their hair and and primp and tweak all portions of their hair and how they wore the style of hair. Next there was a scene of a movie marquee that read “The Biggest Loser The Movie” What was being done was the movie premiere was actually going to be a story of their journey on The Biggest Loser.
Helen walked into the theatre and met her husband and she and her husband were in tears and Helen told him she lost 88 pounds. It was a tear jerker of a reunion. Tara was met by her mother. Whan Tara came down the theater stairs Tara really looked good and Tara was shocked that her Mom lost 40 pounds. Tara then noticed The Biggest Losermovie poster and then commented, in tears about how lucky she was to be on the show.
Filipe then met his wife and he really cleaned up good. The tears were flowing from both Filipe and his wife. She comments how proud she was of him.
Kristine then met her husband (Nick) and they were both beaming with pride. Kristine told him she lost 115 pounds and he said “WOW!”
Laura was met by Monica, her best friend. Monica gave her a hug and said it was like hugging only 1/2 of her since she lost so much weight. Laura really did look pretty.
Ron came down the steps and his wife was shocked he shaved off the beard he had for 20 years. He told her he lost 122 pounds. When Ron saw his over weight son it was sad because he (son) was still dealing with extreme obesity. When Mike hugged his brother (Max) the moment was filled with tears and sadness because Mike had achieved victory and yet his brother was still suffering from morbid obesity. The brother Max was crying because he said he “was the big one” and he had done nothing about it. Mike told Max that when him and Dad returned home they were going to help him. Mike sat down and said “you feel helpless” to Max and then Mike said you have the ability to change and that “you are not stuck like that.” Max cried he wanted to be thin and normal. Mike said that 15 weeks ago they both tried to lose weight and failed. Mike repeated through tears that when he returns home they will show him how to lose the weight. It was really a touching moment to witness and we almost felt as if we were violating their privacy. Mike then told the camera that America could lose the weight if they just made the change.
Soon we saw camera flashes and a red carpet walk at the L.A. Theatre and Mike said it was weird to be interviewed as a celebrity. Helen said she was living a dream. The lights were dimmed and then they all sat in the theatre to watch a movie about their journey so far on The Biggest Loser. There were scenes of how they got on the show and flashback scenes of how they looked when they first appeared on the show. Kristine said she saw no sparkle in her eyes as she watched her first weigh in. Tara said that it made her sad and that a person does not weigh 294 pounds by accident. Laura saw herself and realized how much she had changed in 15 weeks. Ron and Mike watched scenes of one another helping and hoping for the other. Mike said they were the characters in this movie and it was amazing to see it. There was scene after scene of how the players got there and how they lost the weight. It was like watching The Biggest Loseron speed. Each player then told America about how they were not going to return to their old ways and how they happy with their new bodies.
For the second hour of the show there was an injury that was going to “rock the campus” and then we saw Bob Harperand Jillian Michaels
for the first time of the show. Bob told everyone that they needed to work extra hard and they needed to put their sandwiches away and go to the gym. Bob warned Kristine that she was still the biggest girl in the house and that made her the biggest threat. Bob dogged Kristine, Ron and threatened to “kick the ass” of anyone that went below the yellow line. There was scene after scene of weights, sweat and movement. Bob even dropped the “F” bomb and said he was going to work his people until the bled. It seemed to go on for quite awhile and although there was no mention of how long they exercised they more than likely went at it for six or eight hours. Maybe even longer. In the past these workouts lasted in excess of 12 hours.
Jillian then told the camera that she thought there was a problem with the hip of Laura. It turned out that Laura had the early signs of a fracture. Laura had the signs of a fracture and that all risks had to be minimized and that she could not run for three months. Jillian said that this was the worst sports related issue in the history of The Biggest loser. Laura said she was afraid that she was so close to the finish line and then have everyone pass her by.
The show then had one of their built in commercials with Jillian and Helen. They were talking about metabolism and milk with milk being the product that was paying to be on the show. It was mentioned they needed to drink at least 3 glasses of milk everyday.
Jillian said she had to kill her players during last chance workout and that she had to make them bleed. Jillian then kept screaming over and over “last chance workout”. There was scene after scene of Helene and Tara and Jillian and Mike and the sweat was just running down the shirts of all the players.
The next moment all of the players were walking into the gym for the weigh in. Ron commented on how the odds to stay on the show were getting worse. Alison said they, as a group lost 765 pounds and that Mike had to lose 5 pounds to break a record on the show.
Mike: 248/243 lost 5 pounds. This made him lose the most weight ever in 15 weeks. He broke Rodgers record and planted himself in history. 2.02%
Ron: 308/302 lost 6 pounds. He said for this week it was a good number and said he has not been this thin since he was 13 years old. Mike said he was never alive to see him this thin. 1.95%
Tara: 186/182 lost 4 pounds. She was safe from elimination. Lost 112 pounds total 2.15%
Filipe: 252/247 lost 5 pounds. He dedicated this week for Sione and he said he could have done nothing better. 1.98%.
Helene: 169/162 lost 7 pounds. Helene said “Oh MY GOD Where did that come from?” She then said “I can do this at home.” 4.14%
Kristin: 245/243 lost 2 pounds. She was below the yellow line and it sounded as if she was already pleading with the other players to not send her home. At 0.82% she knew was was in trouble.
Laura: 205/208 gained 3 pounds. Jillian could not watch as they had to carry Laura up to the scale. Jillian said it was sad to watch as someone who was such a mess that worked so hard to get it right, be in her situation. She was not able to work out at all and because of her hip injury she was unable to exercise. As they carried her back to the line Jillian said it was really sad but it was time to send Laura home. Jillian was in tears and hugged Laura as she told Laura how she was not a quitter and that this injury was not her fault. She gained 1.46%
The two that fell below the yellow line were Kristine and Laura. Kristine said that she should not be sent home because she needed to be there. Mike told the camera that keeping Kristine on the campus might be the biggest mistake that he could make. Laura was in tears and told the players she wanted to be there and she had a major injury and yet she did not want to go home. She asked everyone to vote as if she was not injured. Kristin pleaded she needed to be there and she did not want to go home because of game play. She cried she needed to be there not to win money but because she needed to be there. She was begging and crying and pleading to remain on the campus. Kristine said she was not interested in anything but her health.
Tara pleaded for Laura to stay and yet Ron said she needed to go home. Ron said it was not about keeping her here to help her and this was not the place for her to be to get the help. It was surprising to see Ron plead to send home Tara after so many said he was all about game play. Ron said that it was silly for him to keep Kristine on the ranch because of the threat. Filipe chimed in that he was afraid Laura would crack her hip. Mike repeated how hard it would be to vote for Laura because he thought Kristine was the big threat. It was interesting to see how game play was involved by some, yet others were interested in the health of Laura. Ron really shined in this moment and anyone who said he was just there for the game were just proven wrong. The fatherly side of Ron really shone through while Tara argued to keep Laura on the ranch. This was going to be an interesting vote.
The Vote Results
Laura: ” The past 15 weeks have been amazing” She said she did not want to send anyone home. To no one’s surprise she voted for Kristine.
Ron: From a game play point he would have been smart to send home Kristine, but instead he voted for Laura because it was the best thing to do for her health and the rest of Laura’s life.
Mike: ” This is difficult.” Despite this being a bad decision for the game, the decision is about the rest of Laura’s life and that is why he said he was sending home Laura. He did not want to see her get a life long injury. Mike voted for Laura.
Helen: Voted for Kristin and we (I Choose Thin) feel as if it was based on pure gameplay and the tears were staged. Helene is all about the game.
Filipe: He voted for Laura because he felt as if Kristine was his sister since day #1.
Alison said that Laura was not going home alone because The Biggest Loser was going to send doctors with her to make sure she was well and safe.
The person voted off and eliminated for The Biggest Loser episode on April 14 2009 was Laura.
