There were eight teams at The Biggest Loser ranch this week when the show started and at the start Bob Harpergave his team a pep talk by the pool right before they went in to the weigh-in. At the same time Jillian Michaels
was giving her team a similar motivational talk. In one of the cut away, editorial camera shots, Jillian voiced her opinion that she felt sorry for the returning team members. She was afraid for the returning team mates because she felt as if they did not know what they what getting themselves into. The big difference this week was that there was a weigh-in within the first ten minutes of the show. This weigh-in was for only the returning team members. The prize for the winning team was immunity for the winning team.
After 30 days off the ranch the returning players each weighed in and these were the results;
Pink Team (Shannon) 277 pounds to 255 for a total loss of 15 pounds.
Green Team (Laura) 272 pounds to 265 for a total loss of 7 pounds.
Purple Team (Cathy) 281 pounds to 273 for a total loss of 8 pounds.
Yellow Team (Aubrey) 236 pounds to 234 for a total loss of 2 pounds.
Blue Team (Sione) 349 pounds to 324 for a total loss of 25 pounds.
The Blue Team took the win with the 25 pound loss with the total percentage of body fat lost at 7.16%
During this weigh-in Jillian was giving a pep talk to those contestants telling them that The Biggest Loser needs to be compared to the Olympics of Weight Loss. She went on to say that the Ranch kind of warps reality and that the pounds lost there are higher than what a person would normally lose when at home. Jillian went on to say that at home to lose 12 pounds in 6 weeks would be great. During that same little talk to Jillian there were a few more cut away comments where Jillian Michaels said that it is all B.S. to be told that if you only lose a few pounds that is because you gained muscle. She also made the statement that it is impossible to lose weight but not lose any inches on your body.
During a cut away shot of Bob he said that Carla is in this to win it because she was giving it her all. He was afraid that because of her teammate she had to work harder because Joelle was not working hard enough. Bob was afraid that Joelle would be the cause Carla would be sent home. Bob stated that Joelle‘s workouts were inconsistent and that meant that Carla had to work twice as hard to just ensure survival on the ranch. Later on Bob said it had to be 10X harder to survive the vote.
During a shot while in the gym Jillian cornered Aubrey of the yellow team on a treadmill. Jillian confronted her 2 pound loss in 30 days and told her it was all an excuse and that there was no way she had been working out 4-5 hours a day. Jillian stressed that they needed to get to the root cause of the weight issues Aubrey was dealing with internally.
The Challenge
The weekly challenge found all of the teams at a dam. They were not on the top, but down in the water overflow area which was completely dry. The winner of the challenge had the option of taking either a two pound pass or $5,000.
The challenge found a long pipe slightly higher than the waists of the players. There was a rope wound all around the pipe and the only way to unwind the rope that the players were attached to, was to climb up and over and up then under and then up and over and then under again. This had to be repeated dozens of times and was very tiring and a lot harder than it looked. After they had un-wrapped the rope they had to pull the attached rope a set distance to be the first to cross the finish line.
The winner of the challenge was the Yellow Team with the Blue Team not very far behind.
After the challenge there was the usual quick message from Jillian discussing how important it was to get to the root cause of a person being overweight. Jillian feels very strongly that the reason people are obese has little to do with food. Sure the person has to eat to get obese but she likes to get to the reason why people overeat. That is a Jillian Michaels trademark, weekly conversation with the contestants.
The Weigh-In
The teams weighed in as teams and their total weight was what determined who won and who lost. The Yellow Team that won the challenge chose to take the two pound pass and left the $5,000 in the hands of the host, Allison Sweeney.
The results of the weigh-in were as follows;
The Blue Team
Filipe: 331 to 308, lost 3 pounds / Sione: 324 to 316, lost 8 pounds
The Yellow Team
Mandi: 227 to 221, lost 6 pounds / Aubrey: 234 to 224, lost 10 pounds
The Silver Team
Carla: 348 to 339, lost 9 pounds / Joelle: 234 to 234, lost ZERO pounds
After Joelle weighed in the entire process kind of stopped. A cut away scene of Aubrey (Yellow) saying she was shocked with the results because Joelle had not GAINED any weight. Aubrey said that Joelle had not worked hard during the week. She went on to say that Joelle was full of excuses and that she did not know what she was talking about. Bob shouted out that he was not surprised by the zero on the scale. He stated that it was a reflection of her efforts and that the scale never lies.
The Black Team
Blaine: 312 to 303, lost 9 pounds / Dane: 345 to 334, lost 11 pounds
The Green Team
Laura: 265 to 252, lost 13 pounds / Tara: 252 to 240, lost 12 pounds
The Brown Team
Mike 339 to 330, lost 9 pounds / Ron 370 to 366, lost 4 pounds
The Pink Team
Helen: 225 to 216, lost 9 pounds / Shanon: 255 to 246, lost 9 pounds
The Purple Team
Kristin: 312 to 301, lost 11 pounds / Kathy: 273 to 268, lost 5 pounds
The results of the weigh-in were that the Brown and The Silver Team fell below the yellow line and both were up for elimination. During the one hour before the vote for elimination the entire house sort of attacked Joelle and her lack of motivation to work hard to lose weight. All during the heated exchange of words Carla chimed in to verbally assault Joelle and the fact that she did not care about being sent home. Carla was furious about the attitude Joelle showed the world when she hesitated to answer the simple question as to whether or not she really desired to be on The Ranch anymore. Eventually Joelle mounted a feeble defense about working hard and the entire house of players rolled their eyes in contempt for the words she was uttering. The quiet Shanon from The Pink Team blurted out that Joelle did not even know what planet she was on, let alone what ranch.
When Mike and Ron pleaded their request to stay, they both shed tears and clearly stated they worked hard and did not want to go home yet.
The Vote
The vote went quickly tonight with everyone voting to get rid of The Silver Team. The little placards they write the names on all had Joelle in big letters while Carla was written in tiny letters. The players would have liked to send home Joelle and kept Carla.
The person voted off The Biggest Loser February 3, 2009 episode was the Silver Team Carla and Joelle.
Joelle said she was offended by all of the remarks thrown at her and as the players all gathered around Carla to say goodbye, Joelle was ignored and walked out all alone without so much as a word to anyone.
The Biggest Loser Moment
The Biggest Loser Moment was different this week. It started off with words on the screen that Carla and Joelle had not seen each other for months. The meeting quickly turned into hateful comments being hurled back and forth and Carla said that Joelle had not given her best. Joelle said that she was no longer friends with Carla and walked out of the room without another word. The meeting was not a pleasant encounter.
The Biggest Loser Moment went on to say that Joelle lost 31 pounds since she left the ranch and that Carla had lost 40 pounds.

The Biggest Loser: February 10, 2009 Recap and Review
February 10, 2009 episode of The Biggest Loser,Recap, Week #5: We here at I Choose Thin.com being the huge fans of The Biggest Loser and the message it sends about the common person trying to lose weight provide this update to keep the other dedicated fans in touch with what they may have missed. This being the 100th episode of the show sort of makes it a milestone that was not even referred to on the show, which was a slight surprise.
The show started with The Brown Team talking about how they fell below the yellow line two weeks in a row even though they had been each burning about 10,000 calories a day. Since they still had not lost the weight needed they knew they would have to do something different this week.
Allison walked into the house and announced there was about to be a challenge and the prize for that challenge was the privilege of a family member to visit on the ranch for 24 hours. As they walked out to the swimming pool area it was noticed there were team colored wooden blocks arranged in a group near the pool. These blocks were meant to be stood on with one foot until everyone fell off and the last one standing would be the winner and get to see their family. The results were as follows:
Brown Team Ron lasted less than 15 seconds, Mike also of The Brown Team lasted 22 seconds, Kristin from The Purple Team lasted 24 seconds and Dane from The Black Team held out 2 minutes 23 seconds. The next to fall off the wooden blocks happened in the following order and there were no posted times for when they fell. Tara from The Green Team, Cathy from The Purple Team and then Shanon from The Pink Team fell off and fell into her Mom Helen, and they were both out. Helen was quite annoyed as the camera cut away. Then Laura from The Green Team went down followed by what was heart touching and interesting when Mandy from The Yellow Team pleaded with Sione to step off so she could see her family. Sione from The Blue Team stepped off and then there was only Blaine from The Black Team and Aubrey from The Yellow Team. Mandy then pleaded with Blaine to step off and Blaine said he would as long as Aubrey said she would step off also. Everyone complied and that left Mandy to the one to win the challenge and allowed her to have a visit from her family.
Bob Harper then walked into the house for his first appearance on the show and he said that he was not surprised that the Silver Team was sent home and The Brown Team survived the last vote. Bob then said that The Brown Team needed to make some changes and then Sione chimed in stating that The Brown Team had to step it up or they might have to send them home. Bob then said that the reason The Brown Team was not losing weight was because they were not eating enough. Bob Harper then said “Stop thinking and (start) eating more.” Bob went on to say that since Ron had a bad knee that Mike needed to work twice as hard to save his father from being sent home.
The next scene was Jillian talking to her group and Jillian said that Mandy winning the challenge was the worst outcome because she thought it would cause all of her emotional problems to surface. Jillian went on to say that sometimes if one spouse loses weight the other non-losing spouse may cause problems. Jillian went on to say this win would only make it more difficult for her to focus on losing weight at the ranch.
After a commercial break Bob Harper was seen putting his group through the paces of a Yoga workout. Kristin from The Purple Team made a comment as to how spiritual a person Bob Harper was and Bob then cut in saying that yoga is a great workout because it helps a person deal with the mental issues of weight loss. Filipe then stated that Yoga may look easy but it made him sweat. Bob then made the statement that “Yoga is the fountain of youth.”
Jillian then was shown working out with Laura from The Green Team and Jillian made the statement that Laura is not the most motivated person in the house. Jillian then said that Laura was full of platitudes and that she was really half-ass and had little emotions in the statements she made. As the workout progressed Jillian had Tara come over and told her that if Laura did not perform her boxing workout correctly that Tara was to slap her team-mate. Once this was suggested Laura increased her workout intensity and there had to be no slaps given.
When the show returned from a commercial break an infomercial about Subway sandwich shops began. Bob told his team they had to walk to eat and ended up walking quite far. We will not repeat the infomercial because it really is just an anti-TIVO commercial, but that does not mean we do not believe in the healthy food sold there. It is better that a burger place.
The challenge started on a chilly night as Allison was wearing a fur coat, which she looked great in, by the way. The challenge theme was that each team had to hold up a bar, over their heads, while facing their team mate. Between that bar was another bar and if the bar that was being held up were to be let down, they would touch. This would cause a red light to turn on. The winner of this challenge would receive immunity from elimination. Blue Team made the statement that there were sure to win and then the challenge began. The challenge started at 8Pm and lasted for over 4 hours and 40 minutes. After the first hour the players were all there and then they were not allowed to switch arms any longer. At two hours they had to hold the bar over their head with both hands on the bar. The results were as follows.
The Blue Team was the 1st team out when they became distracted. The Brown Team followed soon thereafter and following them The Black Team was also out of the contest. This left only the woman since all the men already lost. After two hours The Pink Team succumbed and the Yellow Team was after them. This left only The Purple Team and The Green Team playing. As the comments were being made that the challenge was similar to the two teams left playing last week, Laura dropped the bar causing The Green Team to lose. The Purple Team won immunity by winning the challenge.
The next scene began with Mandy’s husband Rusty showing up on the ranch. They were apart 6 weeks and he said to her “Your face looks so much different” and Mandy said “I lost 45 pounds.” Mandy then cooked her family a healthy, organic breakfast before she took them on a workout and the husband agreed it was really hard to do.
As all of the teams were out walking when Bob Harper pulled up in a golf cart and was really happy The Purple Team won the challenge. He then gave The Purple Team a ride back to the ranch in the cart.
Bob later said to the camera, and America, that if The Brown Team falls below the yellow line then he has “met the first team he has not been able to help”. At the start of the last chance workout Bob Harper singled out Mike from The Brown Team and told him that he had to work harder to keep his Dad, Ron, on the ranch. Mike said that is why he was the first one in the gym and Bob said he needed to be the last one out of the gym also. Mike was soon shown to be in tears and Bob said “Mike was crying because of the reality of his Dad hit him”. This is Ron’s last chance and Mike needed to help him because it was a life and death situation for Ron.
Soon we saw Jillian starting her last chance workout as a clock on the screen showed 8:00Am. Her workout lasted all day long as the scenes flashed 12:00, then 3:00 and as the scenes flashed it was 9:00PM. Jillian said “we have no votes” and we must not fall below the yellow line. Aubrey was seen breaking down in tears and Jillian then showed her emotional side, as she does weekly. Jillian then told the camera, and America, that she had to work her team really hard because they had less votes and that all of the drama in the house really sucked but she had to help them all and punish them through the weigh-in.
As the weigh in approached it was revealed that Mandy spent most of her time with her family and little time working out, as Jillian predicted would happen. Jillian said the family did become a distraction. The scene of the family leaving the ranch was fairly sad but from an outsider’s perspective she was crazy to risk her spot on the ranch when the entire goal of being on the ranch was to become healthy enough to live longer and see her family years longer.
The results of the weigh-in were as follows:
The Purple Team: This team had immunity and there was some definite game play because Kristin gained 2 pounds and that only sets her up for next week. Kristin shed a tear of disappointment but we here really believe it was all an act.
Blue Team: Filipe 303/299 lost 4 pounds, Sione 316/329 lost 5 pounds 3.37 %
Green Team: Tara 252/229 lost 11 pounds, Laura 252/249 lost 3 pounds 2.85%
Pink Team: Helen 216/211 lost 5 pounds, Shanon 246/241 lost 5 pounds 2.16%
Yellow Team: Mandy 221/215 lost 6 pounds, Aubrey 224/223 lost 1 pound 1.57 %
Bob then told the camera in a cut away camera shot that “my reputation is on the line, I think I’m gonna’ throw up.” As the Brown Team stepped on the scale…
Brown Team: Mike 330/317 lost 13 pounds; Ron 366/361 lost 5 pounds
The next statement Bob said was “see what happens when you listen to me America?” In reference to the fact that in order to lose weight a person has to eat and not try to starve it off.
Black Team: Blaine 303/299 lost 4 pounds, Dane 334/329 lost 5 pounds
The Black Team lost the weigh-in and the twist was that the vote would be to only send home one of the players on the team and they had one hour to choose before the vote.
After the commercial break the show resumed with Blaine asking to be sent home. He stated he only had 50 more pounds to go and that he could do that at home. This is when the show got good. The players started to bicker about how now they were being told to vote with their hearts, yet when they asked to send home Joelle the other team played the game and sent home a strong player. The arguing and emotions started to rise. It culminated when Kristin blurted out “Why did Joelle stay and Damien go home, your team tricked us”.
The vote was as follows:
The Pink Team: Held a grudge and voted for Blaine. The Brown Team had Ron pleading that if he were to be asking to sent home they would honor his wish, so he voted for Blaine. The Green Team picked Blaine as did The Blue Team and The Purple Team, which showed some character on Kristin’s part.
The player sent home for the February 10th 2009 episode of The Biggest Loser Couples was Blaine from The Black Team. He walked out amid a tearful and huggy goodbye.
The Biggest Loser Moment showed Blaine had lost a total of 86 pounds to date and spoke of his intention to participate in an iron man competition before The Biggest Loser Finale.
See you next week!
The Biggest Loser Couples Recap / Review Season 7 Finale May 12 2009
The Biggest Loser Couples Recap / Review Season 7 Finale May 12 2009; This is it! The final episode of the season. A three hour live event unfolds and we learn who the third finalist will be. Tonight is the night where we look back on the journey each of the players took, we find out who will be the winner of The Biggest Loser Season 7. This is the event everyone has been waiting for and we have it all here for you to read. Learn who will have the winning player, will it be Bob Harper
or will it be Jillian Michaels? Will Jillian take home another win?
The show started its live broadcast with the lights dimmed and spotlights glaring behind the final four players. Allison started talking about Pete and how four years ago he was over 400 pounds and now weighs almost half that much. Julie from three years ago looked great and Bernie who won $100,000 now runs marathons and how Michelle who dropped 14 dress sizes is planning a perfect wedding. Allison then spoke of how we will see the way the lives of players have changed and how we were going to see them live.
Allison went on to say how 22 people arrived to compete for this largest group of players yet. She said it was the season with the sickest, biggest, youngest and oldest of players. The look back on the season began.
Back to the day when all of the players arrived at the ranch on day #1. Each of the players told the camera that they were at the end of the line. That they needed help and they came to the ranch. The flashbacks showed Bob Harper yelling at Joelle and Jillian Michaels screaming at player after player. The challenges were shown one after another and how the players went from being obese to world class athletes. Helen told America that she would never doubt herself again. Kristine cried and told the camera she was worth it. After 179 days and almost 1,500 pounds later the players were getting ready for another weigh in to see he was not going to be in the final three players.
Ron told America that his kids were fat because of the fact that he made them and helped them become that way. This was the episode to see who would win the $250,000 and claim the title of The Biggest Loser.
Allison said there was one more weigh in and the only thing left between them was the scale. Before they got to that she had to reveal who was the one who got voted off by America. Before she did that she wanted to show America what the players looked like today.
The first player introduced was Mike. He lost more weigh on campus than anyone in the history of The Biggest loser. When Mike walked out he looked amazing. He looked slim and very trim. Mike said he heard everyone when he was backstage freaking out. Mike said he was thrilled to have his Dad with him and how his father helped him while he was at home.
Ron came out, busting through the paper photo of himself, looking not only thinner but must younger. Allison said he was the sickest player ever and now Ron said he felt great and wonderful. Ron said it did not matter who got to stay for the final three because they both won because they were able to lose the weight.
Allison then said she had the results from the American vote. They went to a commercial and when they returned she told the audience the player voted to stay for the final three was Mike. Mike was allowed to stay and the father, Ron was sent home. Mike became the third finalist.
Then Allison said that America would, for the first time ever, get to vote a player for the next season. The camera then showed a recording of Erinn who plead her story of how she became 239 pounds. She went through her journey of how she became obese and why America she vote her on to the next season of The Biggest loser. Then Allison introduced Erinn live on stage. Allison then introduced America to Amanda and then a recording showed Amanda at 19 years of age and 257 pounds. She spoke of how she was too embarrasses to attend senior prom because of her weight. She said her life was on hold because of her weight. Amanda and Erinn were both very cute blonds and they both wanted your vote. Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels both appeared on a big screen TV and told them they had to report the the gym right now. Jillian told them to get to the gym because one was going on the show and the other was going to the hospital.
Allison then brought out the first at home contestant to weigh in. That player was Estella and then her husband Jerry. They both looked great! Then Damien followed by Nicole who both looked really thin. The camera went on a flashback of how Jerry passed out while in the gym. That flashback showed a very obese Jerry and Jerry today screamed that man was gone. Dr. H. then came on camera telling America how great he has done. He told America how all of the medicines he was on he no longer takes. Jerry was now full of health.Allison then asked Nicole a question of her dress size and then told all of them to get ready for the weigh in. It was almost as if all the attention was on Jerry and the other players were just back drop. The show then went on to talk about the pound for pound challenge and how it was affecting America. The total pounds pledged was 2,926,027. Almost 3 million pounds have been pledged. General Mills then pledged that for every pound pledged, they will match it pound for pound. This offer is open till May 31, 2009. Go to Biggest Loser.com for details.
The first scene of Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels in their makeshift gym putting through the Season 98 contestants hoping to be voted onto the show. Allison then said it was time to start the weigh in. The first player to be weighed in was Estelle. Estelle told the camera as to why she needed to lose weight and then there were shots of her exercising and losing weight. Estelle was all smiles as she got on the scale. When she first arrived she was 242 pounds and now she was 159 pouds which means she lost 34.30% of her body weight.
Jerry then stepped up to the scale and we were reminded that at the age of 63 he was the oldest player ever on the show. The flashback scenes were of how he lost weight and how he sweat and how he was able to take charge of his life. He would be around for his grandkids now. When he arrived he was 369 pounds and now he was 192. He lost 177 pounds! He lost 47.07% of his body weight. WOW!!!!!!!! He took the slot of a possible win away from his wife.
Damien was then introduced and during his flashback he said he wanted to be fit dad and not fat dad. He said he now works out everyday and how he was doing it with his wife. Allison said he would look good in his tux at his wedding. His starting weight was 381 and he now weighed 245 pounds which means he lost 136 pounds for a total % weight loss of 35.70. He did not come close to pushing Jerry out of the winner’s circle, but he really did look great and his efforts showed.
Nicole then had her moment and she was shown how she needed to lose weight for her fiance and for herself. She said she needed to fall in love with herself again. She said she deserved to be in the wedding gown of her dreams. Her starting weight was 269 pounds and Allison told her to stop hugging Damien and get on the scale. Her current weight was 146 for a weight loss of 123 pounds and a total percentage of weight loss at 45.72%. She came close to beating out Jerry, but fell only a bit shy of knocking him out of the $100,000 prize.
Sione and Filipe were then introduced and they both looked great as did Carla Joelle. Joelle and Carla lost weight, but it was not as dramatic as the previous players. Joelle said that what Bob Harper did with her was alright and now she was okay and was happy. Filipe and Sione spoke of how they want to help their culture lose weight and how the program was going great. Sione and Filipe did a very cultural Tongan dance onstage. They looked very happy and Allison said you have never seen that on live TV before.
After the commercial Jerry was now 64 and still in the lead. Sione then stepped forward as the camera flashed back to how he spoke of how those of the Tongan culture had a weight problem and how he wanted to help his people. Filipe was shown working out with others and his children. His wife said he has returned to become the person he once was. Sione’s starting weight was 372 and now weighed 226, which means he lost 146 pounds for a total percentage weight loss of 39.25%. He looked and did great, but it was not enough to beat out Jerry. Filipe was then shown at his starting weight of 364 pounds and then was shown at that weight and he really looked fat. He then was shown as his journey progressed and how he was able to lose the weight. He went from a starting weight from 364 pounds to 229, for a total loss of 135 pounds and 37.09% total weight loss. He did not beat Jerry but Sione and Filipe did look really thin, slim and trim.
Carla was then introduced and that she weighed 379 pounds and was the biggest woman ever on the show. There was a few flashbacks of how she looked and how she was able to lose the weight on and off the campus. When she stepped on the scale she went from 379 pounds to 251 pounds having lost 148 pounds which is a very impressive and commendable number. Her total percentage lost was 33.77%. Jerry still had the prize of $100,000 in his sights.
Joelle was then introduced and the theme of the story was how she argued with Bob Harper and others. She said since she left the ranch she was sorry for some of the things that were done to her and also what she did to others. She said she had realized she was now accountable to the Biggest Loser. She started at 309 pounds and weighed in at 229 for a weight loss of 80 pounds. 25.89% was lost and anywhere but the Biggest loser this was a great number. She was happy and she deserved her moment because 80 pounds is great!!!
Next that came out was Blaine and Dane, who were cousins. Then Mandi and Aubrey strutted out on stage also in their suits and dresses. Blaine and Dane then spoke about how they ran a marathon and flashed medals as proof they ran. We feel as if this was stated only because they wanted redemption for not running a marathon and claiming they did earlier. Regardless, they did it and we love them and wish them the best. Allison spoke to Aubrey about being a parent and how great she was able to balance the fitness and families.
While they got into their Biggest Loser weigh in clothing Bob and Jillian were shown working out Erinn and Amanda. They each pleaded for a vote to stay for season 8 before they went to a commercial.
The next up on the show was Blaine to be weighed in and the flashbacks began of Dr. H. and how sick Blaine was and how he was addicted to food and how he had to stop and how it had to be now. Blaine said he was a much better role model now to his children. When Allison told him how many pounds he had to lose to beat Jerry, Blaine snickered because he knew it would not happen. His starting weight was 365 and his today’s weight was 249 for a total loss of 116 pounds for a total percentage loss of 31.78%. He did not beat Jerry, but he looked great.
Dane steeped on to the screen and the flashbacks showed him speaking of how his son was drinking alot of water to make his “stomach stick out like Daddy.” This was a moment that he decided he had to change. He told the camera that no matter what happens he already won in his life. His starting weight was 412 pounds and today he weighs 258 pounds which means he lost 154 pounds for a total percentage loss of 37.38%. He did not beat Jerry either. Allison congratulated him and then introduced Mandi.
The flashbacks of Mandi spoke of how humiliated she felt and then there were scenes of her exercising and how great she felt in her new life. Her starting weight was 263 pounds with her current weight of 171 pounds having lost 92 pounds with a total percentage loss of 34.98%. Mandi did not push Jerry aside.
Aubrey was now introduced as having to take care of her five kids and flashbacks showed her children starting to become obese. She said that when she came home from the ranch, she gained nine pounds. Her starting weight was 249 pounds and she lost 55 pounds for a final weight of 194 pounds. Her total percentage weight loss was 22.09%. We expected her to not have the big numbers as the show was always talking about how hard it was for her with her five kids. Anywhere but on the Biggest loser 55 pounds would have been great. Sadly enough, this number was not nearly good enough for the standards of the ranch.
Jerry still held the lead with seven players left to weigh in. Mother daughter team Cathy and Kristine walked out Kristine had hot blond hair. David walked out with Daniel. David and Daniel looked like they lost weight, but they still were over weight. Kristine was then asked about what it was like to be on the cover of a magazine and she said it was wonderful. Mom, Cathy spoke of how she brought it home to the family. Daniel and David said it was a hard road and even if they lost 100 pounds, they were still obese. They had to realize they could lose 100 pounds and then another 100 pounds. They said they would never give up. After a commercial and a costume change the weigh in for Cathy began. The flashback showed how she was a recovering alcoholic and how she quit smoking. She knew that if she did not lose weight she would die. She said she was now powerful and ready for life. Her starting weight was 293 pounds and now weighs 198 pounds for a weight loss of 95 pounds for a total percentage weight loss of 32.42%. She was not able to budge Jerry holding on to the lead for the $100,000 prize.
Kristine then told the camera in a flashback how she weighed more than football offensive lineman. She said that the Biggest Loser has allowed he to live the life she always dreamed of living. Her starting weight was 360 pounds and her new weight was 193 pounds. Her weight loss was 167 pounds and her percentage of weight loss was 46.39%. She came close to beating out Jerry, but it was not enough. She received a standing ovation.and then gave Jerry a hug.
David then was shown how his journey has gone and he told America what a struggle it is for him to lose weight. His starting weight was 393 pounds and his current weight was 350 pounds. He lost 43 pounds for a percentage of weight loss of 10.94%. We are happy he was able to do that and we hope he does well in his future.
Daniel flashed back about how he was always picked on as a child. He was the heaviest person ever on the Biggest Loser and the flashbacks showed him working out with Jillian and how he did not want to be the fat kid anymore. He said he was ready to lose weight. His starting weight was 454 pounds. Today he weighed 312 pounds for a 142 pound weight loss. That came out to be a 31.28% weight loss and he should be proud of himself. That was alot of weight for a person to lose. GO DANIEL!!!
The next player out was Laura followed by Shannon and then Ron. The camera flashed back to the scene when Shannon was voted off the ranch. She spoke of how she did it for her Mother and she said it worked out well for both of them. Ron said he was going to be happy for whomever won the contest. These players went off stage to change clothing while Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels were seen working out the two girls trying to gain a shot on next season of the Biggest loser. After the commercial Allison said she was shocked that Jerry was still standing there as trying to claim the $100,000 prize. Jerry said the weight loss was easy once he let his mind go and let his body just lose the weight.
Laura was then shown how she lost weight and how she now liked to be the girls guys WANTED to dance with. Her starting weight was 285 pounds and she now was 199 and lost 86 pounds for a total percentage of 30.18% total weight loss . Jerry was still in the lead. Laura did look young and her smile looked even better.
Shannon was then shown in her flashback sequence of how she looked obese and now that she was thin, she said it was gone forever. Her starting weight was 283 with her current weight of 191 for a total loss of 92 pounds and a total % lost of 32.51%. Jerry was still in the lead with only Ron to weigh in.
Ron was shown at his starting weight and he said he was the reason why his family was overweight and they were not going to do that anymore. Now he said he changed his life and now he will be a role model in the other way, referring to being thin. His starting weight was 430 pounds and his current weight was 238 pounds for a total weight loss of 192 pounds for a total percentage of weight loss thatwas not revealed on the show. If you want to know, do the math. . Jerry won the at home prize of $100,000. He then picked up Jillian Michaels and then his grand kids came out and hugged Jerry. After having spent only two weeks on the ranch, Jerry was able to beat out all of the other players on the show.
Allison then spoke to Bob Harper and Jillian and Bob said how emotional this season was for him. Jillian then said The Biggest Loser was changing America and it was not just about being fat then skinny. Jillian said it was about being able to achieve one’s dreams.
After a commercial Allison introduced the winner of Biggest Loser Australia. The winner was 57 year old Bob who lost 193 pounds and Tiffany, his daughter (?) lost 119 pounds. They photos of before and after were incredible and he said he fainted on his first day also. How do we here in America get that cable channel? hmmmm
The next segment of the show was with Mike in a flashback of how hard it was to lose weight and how he was never going back again. Bob Harper told Mike he needed to work out all night if needed. Mike said he went from a shy timid boy to a man. Mike then said he wanted to help his brother, Max be able to lose weight. Mike then said he wanted to be in the finale and he was only 18 and he said he had his whole life ahead of him and he was not going to let anything stop him now.
The two season 8 hopefuls then were shown exercising and that it would be soon time to see who was voted to stay on the ranch for season 8. After a brief commercial Helen started to speak of Helen. The flashback sequence showed how she transformed herself from being really fat and how she began to exercise and lose weight. She said the first day was crazy and she did not think she was going to make it. Helen spoke of how important it was for her to stay on the ranch. She was 48 years old and she worked her ass off and kicked everyone’s butt because it paid off. She said it was the first time in ten tears she wore a dress. She said she felt beautiful again for the first time in a long time.
Tara was then introduced as having won 12 challenges and how she never went below the yellow line and how she set record after record on the ranch. At the first weigh in she was in tears and said enough was enough. She said the first workout was really hard and how she was changing her life. Scene after scene was how she won challenge after challenge. She told the camera she wanted to win because she did not want to fail. Tara did not look like the same person who arrived on the ranch. She said she has become the person she never was, but always wanted to become. She went on to say how she wanted to be on that stage knowing she did everything she could do to win. If she did win she knew she deserved it. Off to a commercial we went…..
The three remaining players then introduced. Mike was then back on the stage and then Helen was seen for the first time and she looked realllllly thin. She was wearing a tight, hot and pink dress. She spoke of how she trained with tractor tires and stair running, She said she worked out like crazy and Allison said she looked great.
Tara then came busting through her fat, life-size photograph in a tight green dress, with blue sides that fit like a glove. Allison told Helen and Tara thaty could talk later. Tara said it was hard to do it at home and yet she did her best because she was a competitive person. Allison then said the order of weigh in was up to Tara and she chose Helen, Mike and then Tara herself would weigh in. After the commercial break, the final weigh in for season 7 would occur.
When the break was over the two player hoping to be on season 8 were brought on stage. Allison said the one who did not win would get a Biggest Loser at home program. The winner to stay on the show was Amanda. The first person to be known to be on season 8 of the Biggest loser was, and is Amanda.
The show shifted to Helen talking about how hard she worked on the ranch and how she worked her ass off. When she spoke her voice was echoed for the effect of having been in the past. The final weigh in began.
Helen stepped on the scale with a starting weight of 257 pounds and her current weight was 117 pounds which means she lost 140 pounds!! WOW!!! Her total percentage of weight loss was 54.47%
Mike was next on the scale and his flashback said he did everything he could do. He said he was on top of the world. The echo effect was there again as he said he wanted to be the Biggest Loser. His starting weight was 388 pounds and he was sarcastic in his snicker when told how many pounds he had to lose. I guess he knew he would not win. His current weight was 181 for a total weight loss of 207 pounds. His total percentage of weight loss was 53.35%. He was not able to beat Helen. Allison said he lost more weight than he weighed right now.
Tara was the last one up and Allison did the flashback intro. again. The echo effect had Tara talking about how she was going to lose weight and how she was not EVER going to fall below the yellow line. Tara said she was proud of herself and when she walked up to the scale, she looked like a model. Allison said Tara and Helen competed in more challenges than any player befor in Biggest Loser history. Allison said she was unbeatable all season. Her starting weight was 294 pounds and her current weight was 139 for a total weight loss of 155 pounds.
Helen won The Biggest Loser Season seven (7)) . Once again the Pink Team won. Once again Jillian Michaels won and beat out Bob Harper. Jillian Michaels has never been beaten on the Biggest Loser. Helen was the winner of The Biggest Loser of Season 7
There was no mention of what the next season of American Biggest Loser would be like or when it would start. Thanks for stopping by IChooseThin.com.
The Biggest Loser Recap / Review April 28 2009
The Biggest Loser Recap / Review April 28 2009; Tonight was the last episode on the Biggest Loser Ranch before the final episode. In this show the remaining players get to train Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels and make them sweat for awhile. With this being the last show before the live episode next week we will explore all of the scenes play by play and provide you with a full and complete recap of not only what happened, but also the emotions behind the scenes.
The show started with Helen talking about how happy she was to still be on the show. Helen said Thanks! to all and Filipe took a bottle of water, wrote Kristine’s name on it and put in on a shelf with all the other players names that had been eliminated in earlier shows. Ron told his son Mike that he was glad Mike was still on the show. Mike said his Dad was a master and has been playing chess while everyone else was playing checkers. Filipe said everyone was gunning for him to be out of the house. Filipe said this was his last chance to prove that he could do it. He said he did not want to let Mike win the game.
Bob Harper came in and said Ron had a hand to get rid of Kristine. Bob said he respected Ron throughout the whole process because he wants his son to win. Bob asked Ron flat out if he had a hand to get Kristine off the Ranch and Ron flat out lied to Bob Harper. Ron told Bob he had nothing to do with the vote. Bob told the camera he knew Ron was not telling the truth and he was disappointed that Ron had lied to him.
Allison then broke out video from the early days in the gym on the ranch. Tara said she did not know what she was doing in the gym when she first got to the house. Filipe said watching the way he was when he first got there made his resolve even stronger. Helen was shocked she was crying from doing a push up. Helen then wanted to know why nobody told her about her hair style, then laughed. Ron said he was fat and Mike said he forgot how big he was. When Mike saw the film of himself you could see the tears welling up in his eyes watching himself in the film. Ron said to watch his son in those early days really hurt him because he (himself) was a poor role model. Tara said she did not realize how much she needed the ranch. Ron then interjected how much they were able to do in just 17 weeks. Ron further stated to say he would never be that big again. Allison then said this was the last week on the campus and that all would be going home at the end of the week. Ron mouthed the word silently “wow.”
Tara wondered if she was ready to go home. Ron wondered if he was really ready to go home because he had so far to go. Each player flashed back to what they did on week # one and then discussed how much easier it all was to do now. Each player, one by one said it just took 17 weeks to accomplish what they thought would take a lifetime. Filipe showed the camera how much easier it all was now to move around in the gym today. The sun set over the hills and then the camera showed a conversation in the bedroom of Tara or Helen talking about how far they had come and that they would never go back to being fat again.
Tara had a little black dress she bought in London and tried it on for the first time and said she had met her goal and then Helen then tried on an outfit and really looked cute in what she whispered was a size 8. They then went downstairs to show the other players. They went to the common area and said they were wearing their goal clothing. Mike went and got his goal jacket which fit very well, and then said he was wearing a size 36 pants size from what was a 56. He also said he used to wear a 5X shirt and now wears a large. He was so happy it brought tears to those who were watching. All of the players looked great in their goal clothing.
All of the players then went back to the doctor for a checkout visit. They met with Doctor Huizenga, Associate Professor of Medicine, UCLA. Dr. H. said this group was the biggest group of people ever accepted on the show and that they were all really grim when they arrived. He took the players in to show them the results. Helen lost 106 pounds of hydrated fat. When Helen saw the photos of the fat hanging over her belt she almost cried. Dr. H. said her age when she arrived was a 60 and now she was an age 50. She turned it around and added at least 10 years to her life. Tara saw the photographs and all the red stretch marks on her belly and then told the camera how bad she used to feel about her weight. Tara said this was a life change for her and she would never go back to her old life. Filipe went from 58 inches around to 43 inches around. Filipe said he was not here for the game, he was here to fix what was broken. Mike was told when he arrived he was not only the youngest, but also the sickest. He had a size 65 inch waist and when Mike saw it he became very emotional. He is now 54% smaller today than he was when he arrived on the ranch. Mike said he was so thankful to be on the show because he would have died too young. Ron was reminded that when he arrived he was too large to fit in the MRI machine. He then looked at the film of all the fat that was in his body and how much of it is now gone. Ron was amazed by what he saw and how much a few short months of diet and exercise helped him more that everything he has tried before. He said he had his jaws wired shut, he had sleep apnea, he is off most of his medication. He was stunned by what the doctor reported to him.
The next scene they appeared to be in a desert and Allison told the last five remaining players they were at their final challenge. She told them they had to carry all of the weight they had lost duting the time on the ranch. They were in a sand quarry and they had to climb sixteen hills and at each hill, discard the weight they lost during the corresponding week on the ranch.
Helen had to carry 96 pounds, Tara 117 pounds, Filipe, 120 pounds, Ron 132 pounds, Ron had 153 pounds. The winner of the challenge would take a $1O,OOO prize or a one pound advantage. The twist was that whoever came in 2nd place got to claim the prize the winner did not choose. The weight they carried was in a big bag that was like an over sized backpack. Tara was struggling and said that she could barely move the bag and wondered how she lived that way. Filipe was in the lead andMikewas in a close second. Tara was tied for last and said to herself she had to work harder. Filipe said he had to stay focused and Mike said he was only focused on getting him and his Dad in the final four. Tara then passed Filipe and then Filipe said “good luck, you can do this.” Tara told the camera that she just had to move faster and that this was when she had to dig deep. Tara started to shed the weight and then dug deeper and pushed harder. Today Tara said she believed in herself andasshe threw her final weight off the last hill she yelled “never again.” Tara said she finally believed in herself. Ron came in second place andsaideven that was a great prize because he still might get the one pound advantage. Filipe chucked his last weight over the hill and told America, never again.” Helen said she was done with it and she was moving forward with her life. Ron was having a rough time going up and down the hills so Mike went back to help his father. Filipe also went back to help and Ron said he would never be that big guy again. Ron said he was good with what ever prize he got.
Jillian Michaels then said she was going to kill her people in the last chance workout. The players then laughed because it was train the trainer day. Bob said he loved train the trainer day. Bob said he liked to hear Jillian cry. The players were then yelling at Bob and Jillian and tried to get them to crack. Filipe kept telling Bob to work harder and Bob kept telling Filipe to shut up. It was a friendly exchange of words. Bob then told the camera as he was hanging over the treadmill, soaking wet, that the players still had a last chance workout and that he was going to “kill them.”
That was the first hour of the show which was more or less a trip down memory lane. The second half of the show started with the last, last chance workout. JIllian said she was going to kill them. Bob said Filipewas more focused than he had ever seen him before. There were then scenes of Tara wondering if she should take the 10K or the one pound advantage. Jillian told Helen that she was a 48 year old woman that the whole world was watching as an example. Ron told the camera that he was in alot of pain this week because of his knee and then Mike said that he was putting it all on the line this week. Filipe said he was working really hard this week because he did not want to go below the yellow line. Filipe was sweating like crazy and Bob told him he could do it andthen Bob said everyone wants to send you home and that he better work harder. The scenes then sped up and each player passed before the camera with scenes of exertion.
The next moment we saw all of the players walking to the gym for the final weigh-in. Tara told the camera that she knew everyone stepped it up this week. Allison told them they lost over 600 pounds on the show. She continued that this season had the most players and was the longest season yet. Jillian said they were all athletes now and they were different people now. Tara said she was excited to be on the Ranch and it was not about the game, it was about getting her life back. Filipe said it was more than a game and no matter what, he was going home an was going to educate those he loved.
Allison then asked Tara if she wanted the pound or the money. Tara took the pound and Mike was 10K richer. Each player then stepped on the scale and the results were as follows:
Ron: 298/289 lost 9 pounds. Ron said “wow”. He looked back and said he was surprised he made it that far. Lost 141 pounds in 17 weeks. He lost 3.02% for the week.
Filipe: 244/234 lost 10 pounds. Filipe gave a yell and was very happy to have a double digit loss. 130 pounds in 17 weeks for a 4.1% for the week.
Helen: 161/154 lost 7 pounds. Helen was almost in tears and thanked Jillian. Lost 103 pounds while in the ranch. Everyone kept saying how she was 48 years old. She lost 4.35% for the week.
Mike: 235/224 lost 11 pounds. Mike was safe from elimination and said that he and his Dad made their personal gaol of losing 300 pounds. Mike was on top of the world and on top of the chart, but pushed his Dad below the yellow line. Mike lost 4.68% during that week.
Tara: 177/169 lost 8 pounds. Tara never fell below the yellow line during the entire show. Tara was then told she lost more weight on campus that anyone in Biggest Loser history. She lost 5.08% for the week.
The two players below the yellow line were Filipe and Ron. Bob Harper was upset that Filipe fell below the yellow line and was so upset. All five players lost over 100 pounds while on the Biggest Loser campus.
Tara then told the camera that she has never been in an alliance. Ron told the rest that he should be in the finals because he was less of a threat than Filipe. Filipe said he wanted to be in the finals because he was always the fat kid that came in last. Filipe said he wanted to compete and that the easy way out was to vote him off and let Ron stay. Helen said she had no loyalty because Ron and Filipe both voted for her in earlier shows. Helen said she had no loyalty and that she was going to play the game and do what was best for her. Tara asked Helen if she was enjoying the moment of power. Helen laughed and said she was.
At the table of elimination the votes were.
Mike: He told Filipe he was voting to save his Dad and that Filipe knew why.
Helen: She said she had to play for herself and that she voted for Filipe because he was the bigger threat.
The person voted off The Biggest Loser on April 28 2009 was Filipe.
Filipe said he could not go home and that he hoped he was going inspire those that were watching the show. He was in tears and said that from that moment on he wanted to be a inspiration to those who thought they could not do it for themselves. Filipe left and received hugs.
Allison told them they were all going home and in 30 days the would return for their final weigh-in.
Filipe said he was going home to inspire his culture to become healthier.
The Biggest Loser Transformation Moment showed Filipe walking into his home and family and his wife said he looked like a new man. His father said he was amazed. Sione said he was amazed in how much more weight he lost in three weeks.
Moneh, Filipe’s brother was seen and he was a very large boy who spoke of his culture being consumed with food. Since he was home he lost 13 pounds and then his Dad had a stroke and that inspired him to work even harder. He started to have classes at his home to help others exercise and loss weight. Levila, his wife, said she was proud of her husband and then Filipe said he wanted to change his culture and he knew it would take some time.
The Biggest Loser: February 17, 2009 Recap and Review
February 17, 2009 episode of The Biggest Loser, Recap and review for Week #6: The Show started off with Dane (Black Team) reflecting on having to be alone since his partner was sent home the previous week. He stated that he was now alone and realized he had to push even harder now that he was all by himself.
Jillian Michaels showed up and was shocked that Blaine was sent home and not Dane. As she was speaking her voice was played over clips from the previous week when Bob Harper
was saying goodbye to his players. Revisiting the previous week it was revealed that Bob basically ordered his team to send home Dane, and nobody else. When Bob walked in and saw they disobeyed his request he was quite shocked. Bob asked his team why they did not listen and they all responded with how they were honoring the wishes of Blaine. Bob responded with “okay, you may not be playing the game, but the game is still being played.” Then he abruptly said that was enough and changed the subject.
Bob Harper would never approve of Sensa Weight Loss, but why?
The first challenge of the show had all of the players competing to walk up a large hill to fetch a key to one of the two padlocks on the gym door. At the top of the hill were 100 keys that all looked the same. The players had to walk up the hill and fetch one key. They then had to take that key back to the gym and try to open the padlocks on the door. If they found the right key they would be the winner. Only one team player for each color had to find the key for both of them to be a winner. After both keys were used to open the padlock, the game was over. The four winning players won the privilege to use the gym for the entire week while the others had to figure out where they were going to exercise elsewhere. After many trips by each team up and down the hill with players throwing up along the way, the winners were The Pink Team and The Brown Team.
Jillian was not very happy about not being able to use the gym because she…”was not really an outdoorsy type of girl”. Jillian stated she did not like to get her sneakers dirty and that she really liked to use “stuff”. She then said she was going to make a home gym for everyone to workout in during the week.
The Pink Team who won use of the gym was fairly foolish by wasting time putting signs up saying members only and setting up chairs and a table with fruit bowls and saying it was now a lounge. When Bob walked in the gym it was now time for them to work harder. He was concerned because the few people that were in the gym were at such low workout levels. Bob made the statement that “a gym needs life, it needs energy and that was hard to get”…in the gym the way it was with only four players using it to exercise.
While Jillian was working out her team Tara, from The Green Team, started to whine about how Laura was going to drag her down. It may have been the first time they showed her complaining about her teammate, but it sure was not going to be the last. Then they players saw some outside water sprinklers running and started to get wet and then wrestle and commenced bathing themselves in the mud and doing basically silly things.
Bob did some infomercial for some product that hung from a tree before the scenes of the challenge began. The challenge was at night and there were rowing machines set up that were plugged into lights. The object was to keep the lights green by rowing. If they slowed down the light would turn yellow and then red, which would disqualify both members of the team. The winner of this challenge was Dane. Dane won immunity from the possibility of being sent home from elimination.
Bob Harper had a heart to heart talk with Ron, from The Brown Team. Bob said he was heading to the beach for the last chance workout and Ron should not participate. Bob was worried about the knee problem Ron had and told him to spend the entire day swimming in the pool. That was one way that Ron could burn calories without damaging his knee further. While Bob had his team at the beach he had them run and carry logs and crawl and pretty much anything else he could think of having them perform.
Jillian was working her team out in a courtyard area and Tara whined about Laura again and Jillian was not happy with that complaining. Jillian told Tara that she needed to get her act together and that every bite a person took was a choice and now she was choosing to make excuses and not exercise. Tara kept whining and crying about being sent home because of Laura.
Last week we wrote about how we wrote” The Purple Team: This team had immunity and there was some definite game play because Kristin gained 2 pounds and that only sets her up for next week. Kristin shed a tear of disappointment but we here really believe it was all an act. ”
With the results in this week we really think that Kristin guzzled water last week because she had immunity. Last week she gained 2 pounds and this week she lost more weight than anyone else. We said it and we believe it more now than last week and her numbers point towards that statement. Also this week since Dane had immunity we also suspect he drank water because his weight loss was the lowest of them all and he worked really hard. We state that Kristin had game play last week and this week we are pointing the finger at Dane. We do not say this is wrong because it is a game. We are kind of just thinking out loud.
The results this week were as follows:
Green Team: Laura 249/241 lost 8 pounds, Tara 229/222 lost 7 pounds 3.14%
Yellow Team: Mandy 215/210 lost 5 pounds, Aubrey 223/216 lost 7 pounds 2.74%
Blue Team: Filipe 298/291 lost 7 pounds, Sione 305/296 lost 9 pounds 2.65%
Brown Team: Mike 317/307 lost 10 pounds, , Ron 361/351 lost 7 pounds 2.51%
Purple Team: Kristin 301/289 lost 12 pounds, Cathy 264/263 lost 1 pound 2.3%
Pink Team: Helen 211/205 lost 6 pounds, Shanon 241/238 lost 3 pounds 1.99%
Black Team: Dane 329/325 lost 4 pounds, 1.22%
The player that won immunity for this week was Dane and he had the lowest % of weight loss. As we suspected with Kristin last week, we suspect Dane doing it this week to set himself up for a great week next week.
During the elimination vote everyone honored the wishes of The Pink Team and voted off was Shanon. The player voted of The Biggest Loser episode of February 17, 2009 was Shanon from The Pink Team. The vote to send her home was unanimous.
During The Biggest Loser Transformation moment it was revealed that Shanon has lost 85 pounds to date and now participates in Roller Derby, as a sport. She has dropped a total of ten pants sizes.
Next week we get to see Bob Harper cry after a coin toss. Come back soon for that review also.
