The Biggest Loser Quick and Easy Cookbook

When I heard there was ANOTHER Biggest Loser cookbook I quietly sighed to myself thinking about the shelf I already have stocked with Biggest Loser cookbooks.  I will be the first to admit that I have gone out and bought each and every of The Biggest Loser books and when I first heard about the newest book titled “The Biggest Loser Quick & Easy Cookbook” I said to myself that I was disappointed with them before and maybe I will pass on this book.  What I do want to tell you right here and now that this is one Biggest Loser book that will not sit on the shelf unused, like so many of the other books.

This one, which was written by Chef Devin Alexander is the first (and only) book in the Biggest Loser series of books to focus on what I have hoped to have over the years.  In fact, I find it amazing that it took the show this long to put together and market a book so practical as this one.  What has impressed me is that the book is full of 75 recipes that can be thrown together with 20 minutes of prep time or less. As you can see from the photgraph of my bookshelf above…I am a Biggest Loser fan and I think this Biggest Loser cookbook is the best book by far, of all the books that have been published thus far.  Hands down..this is the best cook book Biggest Loser has ever offered and it really is a surprise that a book of this quality only surfaced for the first time on Season 12 of the show!

The book starts off with ”The Biggest Loser” eating plan and then goes over five 20-minute workouts with tips on how to burn the most calories in the least amount of time. There’s also cooking and baking tips, as well as a shopping list to help you stock the pantry with healthy basics.  Here are a sampling of some of the recipes in The Biggest Loser Quick & Easy Cookbook.

Sausage Feta Pepper Breakfast Bake

Cold Dumpling Salad

Garlic & Herb Macaroni and Cheese

Spicy Cayenne Corn on the Cob

Coffee Crusted Chopped Steak

Crispy Pesto Cod

Meyer Lemon Seared Scallops

Chocolate Raspberry Dreamers

Honey Nut Apple Butter Rice Cakes

Blanca Arugula Pizza

Philly Cheese-steak Pizza

Asparagus and Chicken Apple Sausage Scrambler

The sub-title for the book is “Simply Delicious Low-Calorie Recipes to Make in a Snap” and that description could not be any closer to the truth!  This is one book that will not simply end up on my book shelf.  This is one book that will find its place on my kitchen counter and get stained and dirty because of being used.  The fact the cookbook will get stained would have driven my “ex” crazy, but I can’t help but use the cookbooks that I like and this book is one that will be used.  I have listed the table of contents from The Biggest Loser Quick & Easy Cookbook below;

9 Inch Diet Review: Best Price, Amazon.com

I must say that my wife is pretty smart.  She has been using a 9 inch plate for quite awhile now.  She and I have worked on IChooseThin.com for quite awhile and always have to work at our weight loss.  We are like everyone else because we have the ups and the downs each and everyday we step on the scale on the bathroom floor.  A little over one year ago she went out and bought herself a small plate and just today I confimred it actually is a 9 inch plate.  She said long before the 9 Inch Diet book was written that if you wanted to lose weight we have to cut back on our portion size at mealtime.  She has been preaching this long before Alex Bogusky and Chuck Porter wrote their bestseller.  My wife has been using her “tiny” plate everyday while I had to twist my wrist everyday to remove my 12 inch plate from the cabinet.

I was once again reminded about how smart my wife  was about 2 months ago when we were at  a chinese restaurant that had an all you can eat buffet.  When we went into the restaurant the first thing I noticed was that the plates were 9 inches in size.  I looked at my wife and commented about how small the plates were and she smiled and said it is because it was an all you can eat buffet.  She further explained that they use such small plates so you will not eat as much so as to save them money.  She then smiled at me and said that was why she used such a small plate while at home.   She then reminded me as to how intelligent she was and that if I would just listen to her I would lose weight even faster.  Oh I hate it when she is always right!

The interesting aspect is that the entire concept of the book is sound and the very fact that the plates in an all you can eat restaurant are smaller so you will eat less of their food.  If restaurants use smaller plates to keep their food costs down then why do we use 12 inch plates at home?  Why have plates gotten so large?  Maybe weight loss is as easy as just having a smaller plate, it really does makes sense.

When I ate in that restaurant I went straight home an ordered 9 Inch Diet and am glad that I did.  Since I have read the book I have learned alot and have no regrets about buying the book.  It is informative and a very easy to read book.  I am glad I bought it and my only regret is that my wife did not write it first, since she had the idea.

Weight Watchers In 20 Minutes: A Book Review

Weight Watchers is not about dieting, it is about living.  That is a phrase early on in this cook book which is much more than a typical book that is just stuffed with recipes.  This book is a fresh idea that has been long over due.  If you like weight watchers, then this book is something you need to have in your kitchen.  It is full of 250 recipes that are not just healthy but inexpensive and ALL of them can be completed in under 20 minutes.

If you are not a Weight Watchers member then this book can also be a useful tool in your weight loss arsenal.  The recipes that are included in this book are not only easy to make, they are healthy and they also taste great.  This book is a great way to add some zest to your meals and shake up the taste buds at the same time.  Tired of chicken the same way every day, then check this book out ASAP!

The book is spiral bound which means the creators actually designed it to be used in the kitchen. The spirals not only mean the book will stay open, it also means it is made to last.  This is the book that your children will one day phone home asking for the recipes out of because the meals are that tasty.  This book will not only keep you out of the kitchen, but will also be healthy and not add anymore flab to your body.

We do not give many books double thumbs up, but this book is one that you need to get while it is in print.  Weight Watchers In 20 Minutes is a keeper.

Dr. A’s Habits of Health (Book Review)

For anyone that is looking to lose weight and keep that weight off for the rest of their life…Dr. Andersen’s book “Dr. A’s Habits of Health” should be the book at the top of their must read list.  This book is written in a simple and easy to read style that is not dry like one would associate with what many perceive to be a textbook.  This review of Dr. A’s Habits of Health gets a double thumbs up from me because I followed the principles in it and lost over 100 pounds.  I applied what he wrote into my life and the rest has become personal weight loss history.

The book is such an easy read that helps the reader understand why they become overweight in the first place.  I had my first epiphany when I discovered that being obese was not all my fault.  I never knew I was being sabotaged by all the greedy corporations in America.  I was also amazed by the understanding of how corn syrup and corporate accountants have polluted our food industry.

Dr. A has written a book that I believe will one day be the textbook used to help people regain control of their lives and shed the weight needed to achieve what he calls “optimal health.”  Once the reader takes the time to absorb the material within his book they will cease the habit of being a yo-yo dieter.  Since I am acquainted with many people that have used this book, I must say that the contents are much more valuable than the price paid.  At the time of this publication the book was not available through an ereader, such as Kindle.

This book has the potential to help you prepare for your weight loss journey and well beyond.  For the first time I now realize that losing weight is really just the tip of the iceberg when trying to be healthy.  I now see our health care industry as a sick care industry that earns billions of dollars on perpetuating illnesses through prescription drugs.  This book, written by Dr. Andersen sheds light on the fact that we are no longer a nation that goes to the doctor to be healthy.  We just go to the doctor to not be sick and a healthy person really has no reason to even consult with a doctor anymore in America.

By reading Dr. A’s Habits of Health a person can prepare themselves to not only lose weight, but also be able to begin their journey towards a longer and healthier life that most people only dream about achieving.  The book goes into great detail about food intake and metabolism and explains how a person can drop dozens of pounds and how to keep them off.

I could go on and on writing a review extolling the positive virtues of this book written by Dr. A, but I would rather provide you with a link to Amazon.com and let you see all the reviews that are there that are positive.  At the time of this entry there was not one single negative comment about the book…which is impressive when you realize the topic is how to lose weight.

If you are looking to lose weight, then it is strongly suggested you read this book because it has the potential to change your life by helping you lose all the weight you need to lose.  In fact, this book goes well beyond weight loss because being a healthy weight is a given, when talking about optimal health.  This book is a great book and I give it a double thumbs up book review, even if you are just looking to be healthy and learn how food impacts your waistline.
