Bob Harper, Jillian Michaels, The Biggest Loser and 24 Hour Fitness

We here at I Choose Thin have been fans of the Biggest Loser since season one. My wife and I who are on a constant battle for weight loss actually go through withdrawals when it is between seasons. Sue (my wife) really would love to train with Jillian Michaels while I would rather work with Bob Harper. As we sat on the couch watching the episodes we were always thrilled with the no nonsense approach to weight loss that was presented throughout the theme of the show. What really thrilled Sue and I was the fact that it was all done through education, exercise and dedication. This down to Earth approach was the reason we started the I Choose Thin website. Having been tired of all the weight loss nonsense and knowing we would never be on the show we were looking for an outlet of weight loss knowledge. The Biggest Loser and the team up with 24 Hour Fitness with Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels was a match made in heaven.

Nowhere else in the world of advertising and television was the concept that the best way to lose weight was through education and then a whole bunch of sweat through exercise. Many viewers do not realize that the contestants spend 7, 8 or even 9 hours of their day in the gym. Many viewers sit on their couch eating ice cream thinking how great it would be to be on the show and do not realize what they are wishing. I equate it to wanting to become a United States Marine and forgetting a little place called Parris Island , where Marines are born in a concept called boot camp. When I watch the Biggest Loser I know how great it would be to be on that show not because of the get thin fast concept but because I know that is one place where weight loss would happen.

Being on the show would allow you to use the most advanced weight loss/exercise equipment available and that combined with the training of Bob and Jillian would provide the combination to allow the sweat to pour. That sweat is what pushes the weight loss but it takes more than an hour episode for that to happen. In order to lose the weight a person has to be committed to weight loss for the long haul. A person has to have that inner motivation that goes deeper than a one hour episode can achieve. Having been a follower of the show I have been saddened to see the weight gain by previous contestants but I do not degrade them because I know that life can get in the way of fitness and weight loss or even weight maintenance.

If you are a person seeking weight loss you must first have the motivation and then you must have some deeper motivation. Only then will that weight loss attempt amount to a lifetime of health. Only after you have made the decision to lose the weight should you ever think of spending money on equipment at 24 Hour Fitness. The products they sell are not cheap and deserve more than becoming a dust collecter in the spare bedroom. The products at 24 Hour Fitness will work the same way they work for the Biggest Loser and that is through the sheer fact that they are being used.

If you desire to lose weight then take the cue from Bob Harper, Jillian Michaels , the Biggest Loser and 24 Hour Fitness and get up and do something about it. After you start then just remember that you have to keep going and not give up.

The book “Loose your weight not your mind” suggests eating small meals every 2 hours instead of eating 2 or 3 heavy meals everyday. This is good for health. It keeps you healthy and active all the day. Also we should put aside at least 1 hour everyday for exercise.

If a person is not willing to help themself, there is really little anyone can do to assist. The best thing to do is not be a nag and make sure you are not hounding her because that is a complete turn off. You need to show compassion and start bringing heatlhier foods into the home and start going for walks to places such as the mall. If she insists on doing what she is doing then you should get affairs in order because at that body weight there are not many good things in store for the future. Professional help may be needed, your love is needed and weight loss is very much needed. Have you thought about, or addressed weight loss surgery? Whatever you do, she has to be a part of because it is her life, her body and ultimatly…her future.

The first thing you need to do is discover why you are over weight. Chances are food is not the ultimate cause. Granted food may be the reason you are putting the weight on but the real question is why can’t you control what you eat?

We do not know your entire story but more often that not you may over eat because of some need to eat past the point of being full. Maybe you eat when you are sad or stressed out. What we suggest you do is reach down from within and ask if you eat to live or wheter you live to eat?

If you are walking 18 to 21 miles a day that is great but if you are not losing weight then there may a medical issue. Have you consulted a doctor?

How long have you been trying to eat the right food? Weight loss is not a short or easy process and you need to persevere till the weight has come off and then be able to keep it off. I see in your tone that you wrote that you really want to make this happen and with that said you have taken the first step. There is a good article about Fitday and it is something that will help you.

What is suggested is that you add up everything you eat everyday and record it in either a notebook or FitDay. This will give you the tools to start making educated decisions as to what you need to do. The free version will work, but the paid copy offers more. I suggest FitDay because you need to make this happen and that is one tool that really works.

You need to stop beating yourself up. Losing weight is something that can happen and it happens one day at a time. Do not look at it as needing to lose 100 pounds but rather just 7 pounds this month. Set realistic expectations and ones that you can manage. The Biggest Loser is the olympics of weight loss and you are not in a situation that is even remote to being the same.

Stop beating yourself up and learn to take it one day at a time and one day will come when your children are all grown up and you were there to see it happen.

    Good Luck!

As you said “you must first have the motivation ” You do not need to be on a show for that. It has to be for you.
