Being Overweight Is An Addiction

You are overweight and you want to lose the weight and you are frustrated about your lack of resolve to just get it done. You have tried to “diet” time and time again but each and everytime the weight loss journey looped you right back to the starting point and each time you felt a tad bit more dejected about your “apparent” lack of ability to lose the weight. Let me be the first to tell you that you are a normal person and you are definitely not alone.

Do you now know or have you ever know someone suffering from an addiction? When you allow your mind’s eye to rewind you most likely envision someone in a drab room going through withdrawals from drugs or alcohol. You may say to yourself “glad that is not me”, or “never will that be me”. Let us pause for a moment and analyze what the definition of an addiction actually is all about. A dictionary definition will tell you it is:

the state of being a prisoner to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming.

With that being defined let’s take a glimpse at your ability to eat healthier or lose weight for the rest of your forever. Have you tried over and over to shed the pounds? Have you tried diet after diet and only gained weight in the long run? Have you tried so many fad diets you can’t really remember them all? Have you spent money on diet pills that you knew were not going to work, yet you purchased them anyway?

What could be the issue here is that you are suffering from an addiction to food and you have this voice, or demon inside you that really does not want you to accomplish the weight loss you desire. Have you ever stopped to listen to that voice of failure inside of you that saps your self esteem and is like your evil twin convincing you that weight loss is never going to happen? Do you start your “diets” and there is an inner battle going on in that head on your shoulders? Is there like a voice that is in conflict with yourself that you are not able to conquer? If that is you, then do not worry. That person inside of you may be an addiction that you must overcome. Weight loss is not as easy as an outsider (thin person) would think. There are moods involved and emotions and desires and then the reality of the everyday world. What I want you to try to do is to find a quiet place and discuss the issues with your inner self. You need to dwell and meditate on why you have an issue with food. You need to discover yourself and investigate your failed attempts. You need to learn if you have an addiction to food or the emotional comfort so many people seek out.

Find your quiet place and discover yourself and explore the possibility that losing weight maybe more of an emotional addiction than a physical problem. I implore you to dig deep into your emotions and discover from what depth your weight loss issues reside at. Spend some time and learn all you can but most of all never give up. Choosing a healthy lifestyle is worth the trouble and you are more than worth the effort. I maybe a stranger here in cyber space but my heart travels out to you with the message that you can do it and you can be the person you want to become. I will never give up on that, or you!
