Medifast Soft Serve Review: Video and Written
Medifast Soft Serve Review: Video and Written. We have created a short video review of how we make Medifast Soft Serve. I always call it ice-cream, but Sue (wife) corrects me, but I enjoy it so much that is simply how I feel about the stuff. We created the video because if a picture is worth a thousand words, then the video will be more than enough. We want to answer some of the things that were mentioned in the video, so please watch the video and then read below.
One of the first things to tell you is that yes, I am from Brooklyn, but it has has been a long time since I was there. Also, I was not annoyed or angry, I just look that way sometimes. In fact, doing stuff like this is what I really enjoy doing and has become a big hobby of mine. I talk to everyone about how great Medifast is for a person.
One thing Sue wanted me to stress in the video is that the the Walden Farms chocolate syrup and whipped cream is what we use because we can deviate from the program somewhat since we are just in maintenance mode. I lost over 115 pounds and Sue won’t let me mention how much she lost because….that’s what girls do, so I oblige! If you decide to use them, just be sure you are really, really careful about the portion size
because you do not want to get out of fat burning. Also, as with anything, if you go looking for ANYTHING to add to your food, make sure that there is NO sugar and also NO high fructose corn syrup. They try to sneak it in on you all the time.
If you have not noticed, we love the stuff and WE DO eat some everyday. We also favor the brownie and even the newer chocolate chip cookie soft batch. The stuff really does taste good and I still find it hard to believe that I can eat it 5X a day, and STILL lose weight!
This Medifast Soft Serve review was really easy to write because the stuff simply tastes great!
I Gained Weight With Medifast
I Gained Weight with Medifast, but that is not the end of the world, nor does it end my desire to use Medifast again. I have not written much here lately because I was so busy with the Holidays and a wedding, but now that is all over, I want to spend a few moments updating everyone about how I gained some weight back…again! I am not fat again by any means, but I have noticed a gain that makes me feel uncomfortable. Since I advocated throwing away the “old fat clothing” I almost found myself having to go naked! Since my wife would not allow me to do that, I decided that it was time to end the holidays and get the waistline back to what I know it should be! This post is simply my re-commitment to myself and being healthy!
I look at my closet with all the new clothing I had to buy and realize that the clothing is not as comfortable as it was before the holiday, and it is time to just get rid of the buldging waist…yet again. Sometimes I think I gain weight simply by smelling candy or donuts! I am glad that I have Medifast in my arsenal of weight loss tools because I now can rest in knowing that since it helped me lose 115 pounds, the weight I gained over the holidays is going to just fall off and disappear again!
I received my newest order six days ago and for the 5 full days I have been back on Medfiast I have lost 7 pounds. I was pleasantly surprised to see they added a new chocolate cookie type meal and I liked it as much as I like the Chocolate brownies. Now that I am back on Medifast I really wonder why I do this to myself? Why do I keep gaining weight by over eating, drinking and making such horrible food choices? I sat down tonight and had a really great Lean and Green meal and I wonder why I think having pizza and Chinese food is a treat?
It was more than one night, over the holidays, that I went to bed with a bloated stomach and had acid burp up through my nose while sleeping! I know that is really gross to write…but that is the truth and I have learned that by sharing what is really going on… can possibly help people know they are not alone. What I have learned over the past 5 years of blogging is that I have an eating problem! I love to eat and when I am in the eating mode you better get the food you want, because there will be no left overs. I have learned that I have an obsession with food and I have also learned that Medifast is the only thing that has ever worked for me. Even though I lost 115 pounds and gained a bunch back…I hold no grudges against Medifast.
I know Medifast works REALLY well, as long as the program is followed, which is really not too hard at all. What I have come to learn is that I like the program because I get to eat every 3 hours and that I truly enjoy the food. I actually am not afraid to say I like the Crunch Bars. I love the brownies and the pudding and the cheese puffs and a whole host of other meals. I will also say I HATE the Cream of Broccoli, but other than that, I find comfort in eating so often.
For the last 7 weeks, or so, I have stressed out over gaining my weight back, and I manifested it right back to my belly and hips! Since I threw away all my “fat clothes” I started to notice that much of my new wardrobe was getting too tight, and that was my signal to get back on plan and make the weight go away. My goal this time is to get the weight off and keep it off this time. What I will also say is that this time I am not concentrating on losing the weight because I have learned that is the easy part, when using Medifast.
This time around I have decided to prepare the mind to be able to keep the weight at a healthy one and not do this yo-yo diet thing. It may have taken me 20+ years to find a weight loss program that works, and for finding Medifast I am thrilled. I now look forward to the next event in my life which is remaining thin for the duration. Sue and I have decided to set a stress free goal for when we will run a private Marine Corps PFT. We will not get the same score we did in boot camp, but the fact that we have set a goal and a challenge, with a date, is really all we want to do.
If you are looking to lose weight…Medifast works really well. Whether or not Medifast works is really not the question you should be asking. What you really should be asking is will you be able to keep the weight off AFTER you lose it? The weight loss goal is simple, with Medifast, and now I need to beat this over eating thing once and for all. As soon as I get back into all my nice clothing that is!!!!
What Do Biggest Losers Wear On Their Arms?
You have just watched the season premier of The Biggest Loser and you have noticed the thing on the arm of The Biggest Loser players. You may have even heard Jillian Michaels or Bob Harper give a commercial plug to the BodyBugg and now you wonder what that BodyBug thing is all about? We are here to tell you today that BodyBugg is the most advanced calorie management system in the world today, outside of being in a clinical study. What you see on the arms of all the players is an elastic band that is holding the BodyBugg in place, on their arm. In the photograph above you can see a what you caught glimpses of on The Biggest Loser. As you study the photograph you are seeing what is the correct position of wearing the unit. There is a strap (internal link that explains the strap / armband) that is visible and the BodyBugg itself is out of view from the camera. The “brain” of BodyBugg is actually a set of sensors that monitor the level of physical activity that the wearer is engeged in during any given moment. (Internal link that explains how the sensors work) BodyBugg is actually an ever vigilant calorie counting device that keeps a running total of how many calories you burn during the moment by moment course of your life. Whether you are exercising or whether you are sleeping, BodyBugg is there keeping track on how many calories you burned doing anything at any particular time of any day. It is always there and it never rests and it is extremely accurate. (Internal link that discusses how accurate BodyBugg is, or can be.) The important information is that it helps a person make real time diet and/or exercise decisions. It has the ability to track, record and advise you during the day how well you are doing when it comes to not only calories consumed, but also calories burned.
We could go into very great detail about BodyBugg but we just provided you some links above, so as to not have to explain it all again. We just wanted to answer the question you asked…”What do The Biggest Losers wear on their arms?” The answer to that is simple….it is BodyBug by 24Hour Fitness.

Medifast and Sleep Apnea
It was not too long ago that sleep apnea (OSA) was a daily part of my life. My snoring was out of control and my wife had to fall asleep before me, or the roar of my snoring would prevent her from falling asleep. In an effort to get my snoring under control my doctor suggested I go to a sleep center to be evaluated for a sleep apnea machine. I went to Pensacola and had all of these wires hooked up to me and was told to go to sleep. The experience was horrible and the outcome was that I needed to get a sleep apnea machine. I soon found out that the reason I needed a sleep apnea machine was because I was obese, as my BMI was well over 35. Looking back at those early days I am astonished that the medical emphasis was placed on getting a machine and not solving the overall problem. What I mean by this is that because I had medical insurance everyone was more than happy to provide me with what amounted to a “FREE” sleep apnea machine. Despite being told that I could die in my sleep and despite the fact that death is often fatal…the machine was suggested so much more strongly than just losing weight! All of this occurred well before my days of learning about Medifast. This period of my life was well before what I learned in the book by Dr. Anderson. This period of my life was a very dark period for me because I did not realize that, in my case, sleep apnea was 100% curable… if I followed the Medifast weight loss program.
When I read the book I was shocked to realize that the medical world today is nothing more than a business and I (and you) are nothing more than a customer. Everyone is just interested in making money and that is why doctors “threw” a machine at me instead of harping about the simple fact that I had to lose weight to CURE my sleep apnea. I wore that stupid Darth Vader look alike mask and endured countless nights of tethered sleeping and yet never realized I had the power to free myself simply by losing weight. I mean I knew I was wearing the CPAP, but I never knew that I could really lose the weight. That was before I discovered Medifast.
If you are currently wearing a CPAP machine and are tired of trying to sleep through the night then let me be the first to tell you that if you lose the obesity, you most likely will not need the machine any longer. I will not sit here and tell you that Medifast is the only thing that will work, but I will tell you that Medifast is the only thing that has ever worked for me. Before I started Medifast and realized just how effective it was, I believed I was forever doomed to wear that stupid sleep apnea machine.
I do not want you to think I am just out here trying to push Medifast on you, I am simply trying to get your attention and tell you that you have the power within yourself to make weight loss a reality in your life. Whether you use Medifast or some other method, you can free yourself from the horrible night after night of wearing a CPAP machine. Once you realize that you have the ability to become that thin person, you are on your way to shedding the sleep apnea machine for life.
You know that sleep apnea can cause you to die in your sleep, and yet you still choose to remain overweight. You know that sleeping without your machine can cause your death and yet those nights come and go where you say to yourself “one night will be okay.” You need to realize that you do not have to play Russian roulette when you go to bed….you only need to lose weight. It is really not that difficult of a choice when you strip the issue down to the barest elements. Weight loss, sleep apnea, CPAP machine or death.
Maybe it will not be today or tonight, but if you do not make a change soon, why would you expect there to be a different result? I chose to make my change through what worked for me and that was Medifast. What will you choose?
Weight loss?
Obesity?
CPAP?
Death?
Ultimately… there really only will be one answer.
How Many Calories Should Have a Day?
Since I am very well versed in weight loss I have noticed a trend in the question how many calories should have a day. What I have noticed is that the average person looking to lose weight starts to focus in on how many calories a food contains and sometimes that glancing search may wander over to carbohydrates or proteins and even the sugars portion of the nutrition chart on the back of all the food you eat.
As I speak with people looking for information about what to eat, or how much to eat I always drag the conversation to the statement that must be understood about food and nutrition. I always begin my answer with the statement of fact that to lose, or gain a pound of fat the number 3,500 calories must be plugged into the equation.
It must be understood that to lose one pound of fat, a person must burn off 3,500 more calories than are eaten. To gain one pound of fat a person must eat 3,500 more calories than are burned off, through exercise or movement. This number must be understood and plugged into the question of how many calories should have a day. Once the dieter understands that ALL weight hinges on that number, the attention turns towards the nutrition chartson the food even more. It does not take long before the average person gets information overload and gets stuck on total fat, sodium, total carbs and protein. Once the total lack of understanding kicks in…the focus of attention zooms in on the simple term of the massively underestimated calorie.
To lose weight and achieve actual weight loss is not a matter of how many 100 calorie snacks you could “settle for” in the course of a day. The most important question is what TYPE of calories should I be eating when I am restricting my caloric intake? How many calories should have a day is really a lopsided question because to answer it a person needs to receive the information of what type of calories need to be eaten. I could write an entire graduate student paper on the subject with an answer that would bore you to abandonment long before the needed understanding takes root in your thought process. After all…you really just wanted a simple answer to the miss-typed question of how many calories should have a day.
I will skip all the boring information of how you need the right mix of calories to allow the metabolism in your body to release the fat from the cells. I will skip the boring details of why you get hungry after consuming a salad so quickly and why a turkey salad is so much more settling for longer-term appetite suppression. I will skip a number of calories completely and refer you to the weight loss program that does not count one single calorie. I used to be so confused about types and quantities of calories, while I was losing my 115 pounds, that I knew I was in over my head. I found a way to lose weight, without much exercise and without counting a single calorie.
What I will say is that I learned the word MEDI is in Medifast because the science has been perfected over the last 30+ years to allow a meal replacement program that facilitates weight loss, without having to wonder how many calories should have a day. I could answer the question with the amount of calories you will be eating a day while on the Medifast Weight Loss Program but that answer is not what is important either. What I can say because of my weight loss story is that when using Medifast the important concern has nothing to do with counting calories because the ingredients are what facilitates the weight loss, and those ingredients work in tandem with the calories.
How many calories should you have in a day? It is a great question and it is one that you really do not have the time to take the college course that is required to understand. Instead of trying to separate and appreciate what a calorie is and how ingredients impact those calories…just check out Medifast and your understanding will become crystal clear. Medifast has already figured out all the science and you just need to wrap your head around the answer in your head that is holding you back from reaching that goal. Weight loss is only a mystery to you because you have not reached your goal yet. Reach that goal and you will understand.
Lose weight quickly and safely with Medifast.
Top Five Weight Loss Myths
There is so much misinformation that is circulating around the internet about weight loss that it is hard to decide what is good and works and what is bad and does not work. You sit in your chair and not only feel bloated you are getting depressed about your weight gain and the feeling of being powerless to be able to take control of your life. There is a really good chance that the reason for your budding depression is because you have been led around with incorrect and inaccurate information. Let’s look at some weight loss facts and let you be the judge!
1) Diets Work In The Long-Term
All diets fail as you can attest to because here you sit today and your weight is still there. You have tried so many fad diets and yet you still think that maybe that one diet will come along that works. Give up on the diet and start on your new lifestyle because any diet is doomed to fail. Diets have a start date and an end date. What happens if you stop eating carbs and lose 100 pounds? If 100 pounds was your goal and your diet was a “success” what now? Do you go back to carbs or are you ready to give them up forever? More than likely your diet will end long before your weight loss is forever. Quit looking for a diet and start a “live-it.” Start a program that you can lose a pound here and there and stick with it for the long haul. This is how a weight loss plan lasts for a lifetime. True weight loss is not a dash to the finish line. True weight loss is for the rest of your life!
2) Not Eating Will Help Me Lose Weight
The uninformed weight loss attempt will include eating fewer calories during the day. If you want to lose weight you need to be able to give your food the energy it needs to survive. If you just cut back on the food supply it is not healthy and actually defeats the purpose. When a person cuts back on calories their body goes into a sort of starvation mode and starts to restrict the burning of fat and starts to increase the burning of muscle. This hurts your weight loss attempt and actually when you start eating normal again you will add more fat than when you started to try and lose weight. You MUST eat to lose weight, which leads us to the next myth.
3) Three Meals a Day Is Best
If you want to lose weight you should not eat three meals a day. If you want to lose weight you should supply only enough calories every four hours to get you to the next mini-meal. If you eat 2,500 calories at one meal your body takes what it needs to operate and then converts the rest to fat. If you eat less more often then there will no excess calories to turn into fat and since you are not hungry your body will burn fat and not muscle. If you want to lose weight then you need to eat to lose weight.
4) I Can Do Without My Favorite Foods
If you love pizza are you planning to never eat it again? What about chocolate? What about Pepsi? Every time people start diets they start off with rigid rules and make absurd rules like no pizza ever again. What this results in is the event of having a slice and then feeling as if you are a failure and that you can’t make your diet work and then you just give up and stop trying. If you really want to lose weight it is not a dash to the goal, it is a marathon. If you are trying to lose weight then you need to go back to myth #1 and work that slice of pizza into your life. You are foolish if you think that you can go through life without ever eating your favorite foods again. If you ate a couple of slices of pizza tonight that is not the end of the world. True weight loss is all about choices and choosing a reward ever now and then is not failure. If you are losing weight and eat pizza one night and get back on track the next day the weight loss world will not crumble. You can’t deprive yourself from food and be a success for the long-term because in the long-term you will surrender to your desires and then you will feel like a failure and give up. By incorporating your favorite foods every now and then you are setting yourself up for long-term success and also staying away from fad diets. It all goes back to your diet not being a diet, but a live-it.
5) Everyone Can Lose Weight But Me
The chance of you having a medical condition exist and should never be over looked but chances are that if you really tried to lose weight you could make it happen with the proper motivation. For some people that motivation may be heart failure or the death of a sibling or a spouse. Whatever your reason for reading this here and now it proves you have some motivation. You too can lose weight but only if you educate and apply yourself. If you really want to lose weight then you too can make it happen. Join a support group and just start getting more active. If you really want it bad enough then just go for it and make it happen. You can lose weight but you have to want it bad enough for that motivation to last. You need sustained motivation.
